2.
One for sale on here : http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...l=peavey+zodiac
Yes - I'd seen this. It appears not to have the S/D Quarter Pounders, however, which surely would be pretty desirable over the stock Peavey pups?
3. Hi, I'm still searching for a half-decent P/J bass. The G&L SB-2 is a possibility. I've just come across this: http://www.jbsmusic.co.uk/view/1517/ Peavey Zodiac DE Scorpio with solid alder body and Seymour Duncan quarter pounders. New for £214, including delivery. I'm a bit of a fan of Peaveys - I have an '87 Fury which is a storming J bass. All opinions of the Zodiac DE scorpio gratefully received. Thanks, Steve
4.
I'll speak to my mate who is from Anglesey. (he's away at the mo) There is a bit of a music scene in the area although I dont know how vibrant it is. Worth thinking about that Bangor is just over the bridge from there also. check out http://www.linktowales.co.uk which has a lot of north wales musicians frequenting it.
Thank you - I'll ceratinly be willing to travel to Caernavon, Bangor, Y Felinheli, Beddgelert, Pwllheli, Abersoch, Criccieth. I'll check out the link you sent me.
5. Not quite sure which forum to post this, but here goes anyway. I'm considering a move to Anglesey soon. Can anybody tell me about the opportunities for a realtively inexperienced but mad-keen bass player in Anglesey/North Wales, please? Ideal would be a pub covers band of some description. Are there any well-known venues in Anglesey for pub-rock/classic rock music? Don't want to move there only to find there's nobody tp jam/play/rehearse with... Steve
6.
PM sent mate.
Thanks. Reply sent.
7.
I've got a G&L Tribute SB2 and love it. Really solid sounding bass that can sit well in a bandmix. Took me a while to find the right strings as the pickups are very hot and it can sound a bit trebly. Once I got used to it however and put nickelwound strings on, I was really glad I got it. Unfortunately, I've developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and for some strange reason my other basses seem easier to play now so I tend to leave it at home when gigging.
Oh dear - I'm sorry to hear about your CTS difficulties. At least it hasn't stopped you playing everything. If you're not playing your SB2 and you want to sell it or trade it, please drop me a PM. Regards, Steve
8. Hi, I have a G&L SB-2 bass in my sights. Decsribed as "the cheap version of the Tribute L200". Apparently the SB-2 has a J-profile neck. I've looked at the Harmony Central reviews which seem pretty positive. Any body got one? All comments on the tone and playability most welcome. Thanks, Steve
9.
Does that resemble it?
Not really - I think that's the all-black '54 reissue crafted in Mongolia, Batsaikhan Borijigin signature model with black hardware, although it's a little difficult to tell from your picture. I need to emphasise that I have Absolutely Nothing on offer here. I've been somewhat overwhelmed with offers, but nobody seems to have anything that I truly don't want, or I could not exchange something for, with no adjustements in either direction. Anybody have any suggestions for Beedster and me? If not, I'll have to seriously consider not going on Ebay. Actually, I've already posted bugger-all there, but somebody bid zero for it. Typical.
10. I'm in a similar position. Perhaps we could help each other out here. How about: You don't send me anything and I'll exchange that with nothing? I should point out that my end of the trade is zero-rated VAT AND it's free post and packing. Complete bargain. Must be Christmas.
11. I was going to contact them. Shan't bother now - I'm 51. Way to old for anything.
12. Quick update: I sold my SWR 100W combo to a friend. I tried the Marshall MB4210 and liked it. But, it weighs in at 33 Kgs! I decided I'm too old and unfit for humping that about. Also, I decided I wanted simple, rather than complex - I'm a beginner bass player, not an experienced sound technician. I didn't really want to go down the seperate head/cab route - all getting a bit too technical for me. I wanted plug 'n' play. Finally, many of the seperate cabs I could afford weighed just as much, if not more, than the combo's I was considering. So, looking for a (relatively) lightweight, well thought-of 300W combo from a reputable maker that wasn't ridiculously expensive, I found this: http://www.rockingrooster.co.uk/product_info.php?PID=1803 Harmony Central reviews are good, price looked very good, weighs 25 Kg, and I'm hoping it's loud enough to keep up with the drummer. Delivery expected today. I've already warned the neighbours. Steve
13. Price reduction bump.
14. Thanks for all these helpful comments. Since I'm useless with anything remotely technical, I think I'll heed the warnings here and stay away from cobbling things together in some sort of heath-robinson lash-up. If it can go BANG, it will do if I'm around. The Marshall is very enticing at that price. Will somebody please buy my SWR, (make me an offer around £180) so I can go and buy the Marshall? Steve
15. Still struggling to upload photos. Sorry. Hang on - might have done it:
16. Is it this model? http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/ccl-210/12514 180w standalone?
17. Bit big for me, but might just suit somebody else. See: http://manchester.gumtree.com/manchester/90/30236790.html Steve
18. I have a 3-month old 100w SWR LA15 for sale for £180! Straight swap?? I'll PM you Steve
19. Thanks to everybody for your suggestions. I'm hoping to try out the Marshall combi during the week.
20. Hi, I already have an SWR LA15 100w combo. Here's the technical spec. http://www.bandland.co.uk/catalog/product_...roducts_id=1969 It's a great practice amp, but it's not loud enough for pub gigs, so I'll have to upgrade. I don't really want to sell the SWR since it's vrtually new, and it's a good, portable practice amp. So - is there a way I could link the SWR to give me, say, 300W? If I bought this Marshall combo: http://www.imusician.co.uk/acatalog/info_0...m_term=00061838 and use it for gigs, is there any way I could use the SWR as an extension speaker for the Marshall if ever I needed more than the Marshall's 300W? Is this possible? Sensible? I'm trying to save costs here, and in some way use the SWR that I have already. All advice gratefully received. Please don't get too technical - I'm not in any way an engineer! Thanks, Steve
21. My learning curve continues... I bought this combo new 3 months ago to replace my 20w practice amp. The SWR is a belter - 100w of rich, classic SWR tone. I've only used it for bedroom practice and for 3 rehearsals, so there's not a mark on it anywhere. I still have the original delivery box for it. Basically, it's "As new" It's a smashing practice/rehearsal amp because it's portable (great top-edge handles) and gives such a rich tone. However, to be honest, it's not loud enough for pub gigs. So, I need to upgrade. Here's the spec: http://www.bandland.co.uk/catalog/product_...roducts_id=1969 I do have pictures which I can email. Once I've worked out how to post them here, I will. It's exactly like the one in the Badland ad. above. I'm looking to sell it for £155 or trade it for a good, light powerful combo (Mark Bass mini CMD?? cash + cash adjustment), or trade it for a small, lightweight, pwerful head/amp worth up to £350, plus cash adjustment. I'm in Stockport. I'm happy to drive to meet somebody within 30 miles to hand the SWR over. It could be packed and couriered too. Thanks, Steve
22. Thanks to all the replies and suggestions so far. Still unsure whether to go the combo or head/cab route. In any case, my 4 month old, never-gigged, 100W SWR LA 15 combo is going to have to be moved on. £150, if you're interested. Steve
23. Hi, I've decided that I need a bit more than 100W for my upcoming first-ever pub gig. I've spotted this: http://www.imusician.co.uk/acatalog/info_0...m_term=00061838 Seems a really good deal. Anybody seen or have one? Any good? Steve
