1.
Thanks! Please note that I might consider trades but as I already have other amps I'd only consider basses, and ones with 5 or 6 strings - ideally something plus a bit of cash from the buyer's side... e.g. Yamaha TRB, Warwick Streamer, Fender US Jazz 5, G&L L2500.
Any interest in a Bongo 5er?

  2. Not to feel left out, in chronological order:

    Westone Thunder 1
    Aria MAB 4
    Aria MAB 20/5
    Home-made Franken-P
    Carvin LB75
    Chinese Plywood Upright
    No-name Acoustic
    Fender MIJ Sting '51 P-Bass
    Wish Bass Peanut 6
    Carvin XB75P
    Ashbory Mini-Bass
    Warwick Thumb Fretless 5
    Fender MIJ Jazz
    EBMM Bongo 5
    Atelierz Mini-CUB
    GW Signature SC-1 5
    Stingray 4
    Zeller carved Upright

    18 That I remember....

  3. Since the receipt of my 'real' bass, this has sat and gathered dust - so it's time to move it on.

I will post, but at cost. It's heavy, and in a soft case, so I'd prefer local pickup - I can deliver in the city or within spitting distance of Surbiton.

This is a Japanese make, and it probably one of a handful in this country: I bought it there and imported it when I moved back to these shores. The web-site (in Japanese) is here: http://www.atelierz.co.jp/cubpassive.htm

New these retail for ¥169,000 (about £800) - but given the advent of the Stagg in the market I think the market value has dropped somewhat.

It is bow-able, and it's one of the most upright-like of the EUBs I've seen but with a slightly shallower fingerboard radius (I've taken some photos next to my upright so you can see the difference).

I'm open for trades. Not sure what I really want so try me!

More photos & detail available on request.

    FS / FT - £275 + shipping (local pickup City / Surbiton)

  4. The last time I bought something from Bob (a bass wheel) I got stung for VAT at 17.5% and an £8 charge from the shipping company for clearing it through customs - so factor for that at least.

  5.
OK, how about £250 for the combo and I'll come to Surbiton to get it?

Also, you mentioned at the top of the thread you're looking for cabs with 10's, 12's or 15's? I could PX my Ashdown MAG 2x10 cab if you're interested?
Deal.

  6. I don't mind splitting. £125 for the 1x15 and £275 for the combo seems about proportionate.

I've never had any issues with the combo. At extreme volumes (run without the extension) with a maple boarded stingray, when popping, I've very occasionally seen the tweeter protection circuit kick in, which looks quite alarming, but at least we know it works (see http://www.eden-electronics.com/info/manua...NSPSpeaker.pdf)
The rear (inside) of the connection panel also houses the crossover and tweeter protection system. This system uses an aircraft grade light bulb in a circuit that is designed to absorb current, that is in excess of the power handling ability of the tweeter. In cases of very high levels of high frequency information (such as feedback from facing the cabinet with your instrument turned up), the bulb can glow brightly enough to illuminate the interior of the cabinet and shine through the speaker surrounds. While this is a rather dramatic display of the protection circuit, it should not be done intentionally (find a better way to impress the drummer), as excess amounts of current will cause the bulb to act like a fuse and fail. This requires replacement before the tweeter will function.
Compressor works fine. All speakers are good.

    Let me know.

The gig bag for my DB has rucksack type straps, so I carry it about on my back. It's not always ideal, but it is definitely better than carrying it in your hands.

The trolley/stool thing looks good, but is a lot of money, and in certain situations the rucksack way is superior, e.g. going up/down stairs.

My case has rucksack type straps too, but I end up wandering along looking like the hunchback of Notre Dame.

I plumped for the wheel eventually.

  8. Up for sale is my Wish peanut 6-string fretless.

    Here's the web site: http://www.wishbass.com/

I warn you: the neck is a touch on the chunky side and there is no truss rod on this bass (Wish doesn't believe in them). Only one pickup is wired (although both work).

Chance for all you Wish skeptics to try one out.

    EDIT: Now on EBAY:

  9.
nice collection - that Carvin looks really nice, and the GW too (I had to look them up http://www.gwbasses.com/index.shtml) - how did you come by that one?
I spent six years living in NY, USA - when I fell in with what I'd describe as a 'bad crowd' at www.uglybassplayer.com

One of the initiation rites to the club is you have to order a bass from Grandon & then wait for over a year for it to arrive.

It is the nicest player of the bunch by some margin: it just sounds flat. There's no top end 'zing' to it. Shame really because otherwise I really wouldn't need another bass (at least, that's what I tell myself...) Tempted to replace the electronics with those from the Bongo to see what happens, but the PUPs are just completely the wrong shape.
