£345 from Andertons and GAK etc.

I suppose it fills a niche, it is good to have physical controls, it looks tough, and the DI XLR could be useful.

Not for me though, I think things have moved on from these sort of designs - something like the Boss GX 100 (£449 from Bax) gives a whole lot more control/editability in a similar sized and priced unit.

I agree there's "better" tech out there but this probably sits in the middle: great sound quality but physical controls so you don't have to be programming for hours on end. I can see the appeal of both.

    Hey!

Been looking for one of these for a while. Do people think this is a good deal? Anyone delt with this shop before?

    Cheers!

I had the lefty version, very, very nice bass. I'd say that's a decent price too, everywhere else seems to want a lot closer to £1000 for MIJ basses these days. Mine had a solid neck but not too thick and chunky, decent hardware, great clarity of sound. I'd snap that up if I were right handed with £825 to spend on a p bass.

LOL, I wonder if you could mean "In the stars" by Benson Boone. That one is actually about the passing of his grandma. It's been played on national radio here in the Netherlands a LOT and I can't stand it.

That's it!!!!  It was a few months ago and I never had chance to look it up. Just listening to it right now. Guess I wasn't concentrating enough to understand the message but listening now... Yeah, I misread that one!

I just cant imagine, even how epic this record is it would be played on mainstream radio stations today

Agreed. When I need to use my wife's car I suffer Radio 1, I am forty so it's not aimed at me but the sheer vacuousness of the presenting, the music, and even how they have to explain the news... It's quite sad really. One Sunday morning they were playing Wet Leg and then a song came on, some singer songwriter type thing where this lad sings about breaking up with a girl he met in church and how that made him question his faith and it really hit me. Not because of the message itself but because it was on Radio 1 at hangover time and I thought it was incredibly profound for that station at that time of day.

    I have a katana 210. It's superb.

Seems weird to then launch a class d version and what looks like a watered down version of the features of the 210?

Probably a smart move though. Some won't want the features but do still want lightweight and "five hundred watts" (please, nobody touch that can of worms).

Looks like they've now covered what they wanted to make and what a wider range of people will want to buy.

Interesting that the matching 1x12 cab takes 500w so it is a proper portable rig without needing a second cab to get the full Welly... From what I understood.

  6. In my office, where all my music gear is kept, I have a Positive Grid Spark for practice. It's a great piece of kit but doesn't really have any heft at all so I've got an SWR Working Pro 10 which is a fantastic little wedge combo amp and is adequate for gigs where there's decent PA with subs.

...so it could a very simple and battered, two strings missing... A bit like it could be found from George O's book. You could name it as Truth, maybe?

I also have a big brother.

I have two older brothers but only one of them is bigger than me.

  8. I don't have one... Yet. 1984 for me so it's Fender P bass special (would LOVE one), Aria SB series, Ibanez Musician, MM Stingray... Probably a handful more. Any good quality examples of these will be pricey, any that are affordable are likely knackered. I'm not going to go hunting for one.

cheers. I’ve not played a ashdown before I’m not sure of the tone.

If it's a Rootmaster then you can bypass a lot of the EQ etc and get it sounding fairly neutral, run your MLD pedal into the input and you get the sound of that pedal.

  10. I'm interested in this too... I don't have a Tele bass, sadly, but for purely cosmetic reasons I'd love to stick one or two of these pickups into my P bass. Would be great if they sounded half decent too!

I think we're doing alright for just getting going. Played 2 in Bristol so far, got another 3 (Newport, Bristol and Swindon) coming up. The Newport one came up as we sent a load of messages to other bands to drum up some gigs. One of the ones we messaged had to pull out and suggested we play. And then they offered us the Swindon gig to play with them too!

Love this!! Whether originals or covers I always thought it good practice if we can't do a gig to refer another band we know. That way you help out the venue, whether they've booked you and you had to cancel or whether they offer you dates you can't do, and helped out another band. What goes around comes around so if we all take this approach we should eventually receive what we give.
