There are quite a few pictures of elves playing the bass and apparently that was his favourite. However there aren't many of the eds 1250s about now

I'd really like this authenticated.  I don't think I've ever seen an elf playing bass!

Early 80s pop - Wham, Duran, Spandau, Culture Club etc. As a teenage punk I hated all that whereas now I think it’s great.

I was a teenage punk/hair metal fan in this era, and I too hated Wham, Spandau & Culture Club.  I thought Duran were OK. (nothing special though, but just OK)
Nowadays, I'm 52, and I AM one of the old fart generation, even though I don't feel it (mind you, ask me again after a late night listening or playing loud music in a pub full of half-whizzed twentysomethings and you'll get a different answer)  I've mellowed as a listener, and my tastes have broadened.  I now listen to jazz occasionally, and I've been known to have a little boogie to some of the current chart fodder once in a while, but dig deep into my heart and you'll still find my core is full of 70's & 80's stuff!

My least favourite amp of all time. I've owned two.

If it's not a daft question; if you don't like them, why did you buy the second one?  The first could be put down to bad luck, but the second seems to be the triumph of hope over experience!

I did a gig and the in-house engineer seemed to have the hump with me from the off and he was unhappy with everything I had brought and played through.  He was complaining that my cab was causing masses of bottom end boom in the room... I politely pointed out that at the time I was simply going from bass to HIS DI and my amp was still on stand by; any issues were down to him/his PA.  Oh I felt smug but I swear he didn't even put me through the PA during the gig.

And you probably sounded better for it.  I've worked with a few soundmen who've got no business going near a PA system.  Numpties!

  5. We need to reverse this worrying trend of bassless bands!
As bassists, the responsibility must lie with us to stop these skinny-stringed interlopers.
We need to educate people about the great qualities of the bass, and bring the works of guitarless bands like Ben Folds Five or Morphine (RIP) into the limelight!
