Is 'lightweight and portable' even in the same ballpark as Ampeg?  I thought the two were mutually exclusive!
I know the more recent stuff's been getting lighter, but Ampeg are never going to be competition for Barefaced are they?

Am I alone in missing the days when the lightest part of your stack was the head?
Don't get me wrong, I'm in no hurry to return to the old days when moving your rig meant risking a hernia, but where's the heft gone?

Barefaced cabs are built by Alex Claber, who posts on this forum.  They're ridiculously light, crazy loud and sound good throughout their full range.

They're not cheap, however, but the level of engineering and craftsmanship used in them is seriously impressive.

I'd give serious thought to a Barefaced Super Compact.  They're built by a guy who posts on this very forum and they're light, loud and compact (as you'd expect).

My self-built PA cabs are painted with Tuffcab, applied with a sponge roller.  it gives a textured finish, a bit finer than Tolex, but fairly attractive and, as the name suggests, tough.
Generally one coat is enough on the front surface of ply, but on the edges a first coat should be applied before the finish coat, as the endgrain soaks up the moisture in the finish.

I had a felt tip pen with a hexagonal lid that was a perfect fit.  Poke the lid in, and spin the tape around like a lasso, and you'd be rewound all the way in under a minute!
