Having read through the posts it all sounds so familiar. The music business is a minefield!
Great thread!

By the time I actually had serious disposable income for musical equipment...
I've been playing for 45 years and still haven't arrived at this stage yet!

Overrated: Rickenbacker's. Overpriced one trick ponies that are a mare to set-up with soft fretwire.
Underrated: Rickenbacker's. Regardless all else whenever I've hated mine then sold them I've immediately missed them.
Weird!

Sincere condolences and I wish you all the best. Hopefully this fine instrument (lovely old girl) finds a nice new home.

IMO. She was just incredible. No vocal aids. Totaly live . This vid says it all. Just straight up vocal power and control she got from church.
I agree.

Very good basses in my experience. I reason if they had the 'F' word on the headstock they'd sell in large quantities at double the price.
It's worth noting that the necks fall into the skinny category and may need a regular tweak upon the truss rod.

Got to admit, when I saw the topic I thought this thread was going to be Spinal Tap related ...

I have total admiration for the capabilities and creative vision of the musicians involved - and the fact that they are making a living doing what they love - but that was a tough listen (and I like modern jazz).

I went to see Rush on the Hold Your Fire tour in 1988. The Clockwork Angels tour in 2013 was a completely different show.
1988 was 3 guys with longish hair and some lights. 2013 it was quite a bit more. Aside from additional orchestral members the video display and lights did not compare.
On reflection, I've seen Rush many times...the first being the Hold your Fire tour in 1988. For me the HYF tour was my favourite with the others incrementally tailing off. Law of diminishing returns?
Don't get me wrong I'm a Rush diehard however, I found it almost painful at the end given Ged's loss of vocal range.

Just had a look at the Glasgow date, and it says that you get a copy of the book with the ticket price.
I'm hoping to be there👍(God willing).

As ever, bands require people and in almost every circumstance people are a problem.
What's the answer? To be honest, I don't really know. You can never control external influences (especially other people) but you can control how to react to them.
I reckon it comes down to two choices:
Compromise. Accept and be prepared to repeatedly take their inadequacies and foibles on the chin.
or
Leave and try to find people who better fit your model of the way you'd like things to be.

A stunning bass and an endearing sales pitch 😉
Best of luck with the sale!

I don’t think a Stingray needs 2x mid controls really
Personally I don't think a Stingray even needs one mid control 🤔
Best of luck sorting this issue though.

Congratulations on a magnificent looking instrument! As a Chris Glen and Entwistle fanboy the image is striking...
However, totally impractical for me in the context of my own musical misdemeanors 😉
Enjoy 👍

Some here would argue that isn’t strictly true but, I think there is some truth to this.Well, it's just my own thoughts but I could be wrong

So I’m sure many of you are in the same boat of trying to find that elusive “the one” bass or trying to chase a tone in your head that may or may not exist.
I am a self confessed bass junkie and it doesn’t matter if I buy a £400 bass or a £4000 bass, I’ve never managed to really bond with any to the degree that I could say ‘OK, this bass is a keeper’ or think ‘I definitely don’t ever want to part with this bass’.
The only bass I can think of that came close was an early 2000s Warwick Standard Corvette 5 I had which was my first high end bass and took me through music college and many gigs and foolishly, I sold it some years back. Thinking back on it, I feel like that bass was ‘the one’ but, I didn’t realise it at the time. Hindsight eh?!So does “the one” bass actually exist and who here can claim they have actually found that bass?
It doesn't exist. It's an idea not a reality.
