5. Cheers guys, I can feel my hands have had a great workout!! I want to add it to our set for the covers band as my guitarist has a roland gr55 midi thing he keeps wanting to play with. He can for instance turn it on and play that lick and a horn section comes out, its pretty cool!
6. Iv been working on the unison lick in Sir Duke on and off now for a while and tonight I put that final bit of work in and can now play it up to speed. Rather ecstatic about it, this lick has been my demon for so long!! Ha x
7. Only got my one bass which is the sterling by music man 5 string. im starting to find it a bit heavy but generally my workhorse and I do love it!!
8. cheers for that will give it a go. im not too happy with the neck so far it feels really smooth but some scratches and scuffs can't seem to remove!
9. probably don't fit the bill for the woodworking skills to very fair! / don't have a clue :-)

15.
If you have an android phone there is a free App that plays a note then you have to work out what it is. Also does scales and chords too (although that is above me) Might be worth it for any free time.
I download Perfect Ear whilst on night shift last night , nothing better than sat in a van trying to stay awake trying to recognise major / minor 3rds. Quite impressed so far for a free app
16. So the reason im hoping to change pup is the factory ibanez is a bit rubbish. I had a east UK u retro fitted which sounds awesome. I can only assume that a better pickup will add to the tone rather than remove any from pre amp. Iv had a look and the EMGs fro example come with their own tone controls etc so i hope i can link them with my pre amp
17. Awesome news thought I was going to struggle there. Do you now what EMGs are like and what similar ones are about? Dunno if i have a choice?
18. Im refurbing my ibanez edb 500 (the ergodyne one) but pickup spaces and pickups are huge. Space is 38x117mm so far closest size wise is EMG 45 and bartolini mk5. Problem being is most pickups for this space is for a 5 or 6 string. Now not knowing much and limited info available will popping a pickup for a 5 string in work on my 4
19. And iv decided to leave the neck as an unfinished finish, nice and smooth with a bit of lemon oil. Its currently quite scratched due to previous sanding which was a bit aggressive!
20. Final coats of white, really pleased so far. Leaving the lacquer until Monday. I need to replace pickups and the factory ibanez ones are huge, ie slightly bigger than EMG 45s. Can you use 5 string pup with a 4 string bass?
21. I have a U-retro in an old bass Im revamping, cant wait to hear it again. Cant stress what a great bit of kit John makes, and the service he gives is second to none
