I like Ibanez. I did go and look at the fourstring version of this as I liked the shape/look of it. (It must be said that I didnt look at a black one) However, it was really heavy, I was surprised!
Nice bass none the less.

2. Just wondering if anyone else tried this for the first time after reading the set up article in BGM. I tried it and its worked out very well. Im really pleased. Makes a huge difference with my left hand now not getting so tired (cue the jokes)
If you havent tried it, it is well worth the read. Obviously, all you pros have been sorting your basses out for a while, so this isnt aimed at you!

Cheers
Matt :)

3. WPD.
There's some good advice in some of those answers. I think that if you were to pick and chose who you did the work for you'd be pretty happy with making some decent beer(sic!) money. The man was right about disposables tho, dont forget those costs as well as power, 'cos it all adds up. How many hours did it take you to do your own basses?
I suppose its worth pointing out the blindingly obvious to some people that you are not providing them with a custom hand built bass as well!

Otherwise, I think you'll be busy!
Cheers

brilliant!

5. I've been teaching the very little I know playing bass to my partners daughter and she is loving it. She has learnt a couple of very easy songs. She is 11. Does any one have any suggestions for a suitable smaller bass which would be good for her to learn on as she is finding my bass a bit big right now.
Thanks in advance

6.
I'd also go along with lefty's suggestion of Guitarpro as it is also a very useful tool for learning songs from already available GP files on the net as well as knocking up your own. It's gone up in price though, I recently bought vs 5 and with the poor euro/pound exchange rate it was nearer £60 in the end.
THanks kevB
I think there is a free tial thing, so will have a look.
thanks very much

two versions one free one costs ya, I downloaded the free one just to try, and think its great.
the program allows you to compose your own music, and then listen to it in any instrument you so desire.
eg: compose a bit of music and then select, electric bass, finger style, or upright bass, acoustic bass, whatever.
There is a tutorial on how to use it but I just blundered around until I worked it out, I'm lazy like that... :)
Try it,... you will lose nothing. !
thanks very much for that , I'll give it a go.

Thanks to everyone for their input!

8.
No, you can't. If you create a profile (free) you can save them to your site profile to load up later, or share with other JamStudio users.
There is a payed version available which has more features, not 100% sure what they are though.
Ah well!
I find this pretty easy to use, so am happy, thanks for the tip.
Cheers

9.
Band in a Box may be useful. Its not great but as a sketch pad, it can be quite effective in allowing you to put in chord sequences and hearing them with different feels. The samples are weak and the rock stuff particularly poor but, as I said, as a sketch pad, it has merit.
Thanks Bilbo.

10.
FL Studio (Fruity Loops) is very good for knocking out accompaniments very quickly. The piano roll sequencer is really intuitive. If you don't need audio recording it costs $99 (US), if you do you need the Producer Edition at $199. You can find a lot of free vst instruments and effects around to use in Fruity.

There are some free sequencers about that would do the same job, but I don't know them, so i can't say how easy they are to use.

Hi
many thanks for that. It seems pretty straight forward.
perhaps im being a bit slow but can you save the tracks to a different hard drive or disc ?

12. Hi All.
can someone reccomend some really easy music making software for me please.
I use PC not mac.
I dont play any other instruments other than Bass.
I want to be able to create some simple chord progression with some possible drum effects music to jam along with on my bass so that I can help my improvisation. It just needs to be really basic so I can keep up!

I hope that made sense.
cheers
Matt

13. I must admit that Reverb has been indifferent, but sort of Ok after a fashion. Certainly it could do with a boot up the arse.
Rickaxxe isnt really worth bothering with. I haven't tried Absolute yet but although i know one Bc'er has had some difficult dealings with them, I'll reserve judgement until I go in there. Drum bank on the Gloucester road is ok if the older chap is in there, the kids dont care much.
It must be said that I still see myself as being very new to this. I might not be the best person to comment. However, I used to work in the retail trade and I understand selling and good attitude as opposed to bad or uncaring.
Cheers
Matt
