2. I would try and find a second hand ibanez soundgear they have really nice necks and on my sr500 my action was crazy low with no buzz whatsoever. I would look for a sr300, second hand I have seen them around the £200 mark, which is a good deal for what you get.
3.
All this 24 hr quarter turn stuff is bull. Especially on a natural finished neck. A good neck should move instantly with maybe slight adjustment later on.
Ok, I'd still be careful though all wood takes time to adjust
4.
Have been trying to use the Basschat mobile site, to see if it makes a difference but can't find it
On my phone I can switch from mobile to web and vice versa right at the bottom of the page, theres a link which says "change theme" it's a pain to see on a smaller screen but on a kindle you should see it.
5. Have a vintage v4 myself they are great basses and very nice to play, interested to see the pics if you manage to fix the problem! Good luck with the sale Edit: Looks great very nice job
6. Firefox is definitely the only browser worth using.
7.
Had a wee noodle on one of these in a shop when I had some time to kill - absolutely stunning amount of bass for the money. Played like a dream, had a cracking sound, too. I've played basses worth twice the money that aren't half as good as this thing. Once I sell some odds and ends I'll definitely be taking a punt on one methinks. xx
You made me want to try it more!
8.
Better to ask than doing a wrong thing with the neck, main part of Bass IMO. No differences on lefty instruments. When you turn clockwise the trussrod screw you make your neck convex. You have to do that when your 20th to 24th frets are buzzing. When you turn counterclockwise you make your neck concave and it fixes a buzz on 1st to 4th frets.... VERY IMPORTANT : when you turn a trussrod DON'T screw more than 1/2 turn a day. Otherwise you may crack your neck. In other words, let time to wood to slowly follow. I learnt this from a famous luthier, i want to share it. Keep on grooving
I would only do 1/4 a day
9. Been considering buying one myself for a while now sadly I have never seen any in shops to try one out and would like to get the chance before buying one.
10. Have one for sale, although they are nice guitars not really my thing
11. Ages since this thread but thought I'd add the solution to help others, the poster below was right, an extremely tight winding on the A string is essential unlike other basses I have used. Lesson learnt.

Hey

Hi I'm Chris, been playing bass for about 2 years (self taught so far) I play in a band called First In Line we have a done a few shows and tomorrow night we are playing our biggest yet (2 40 min sets) Started out with a plain p bass copy, bought it from my friend for £15 was quite a nice bass but obviously nothing special. Then after a couple of months I went to a music shop and ended up buying an Ibanez Sr500 it was really nice to start out with. Though since then I bought a MIM fender 08 pbass, which is even nicer to play despite being slightly cheaper but i just the design, tone, everything. (actually selling the ibanez - making a thread later.) I have one of those little 25W hartke's at home (a HMA25) In our band room/what I use for gigs I use an ashdown MAG300H head for now and a self built cab. (the cab is much nicer then anything I can find for the price it cost to build it, I guess I'm kinda proud of that haha) But that little setup is more than enough for what I need for now. So I guess I'm here to socialise and have a look around so HELLO oh and sorry if this grammar is awful im totally exhausted D: (multiple edits coming up)
