1. Thanks, @Happypants 🙂 I will do my best to get a video recorded and uploaded tomorrow!
2. Hello, Here for sale is my 2020 Alleva Coppolo LG4 in Candy Orange. This bass was made for Groovemania, a shop in Italy. I believe I am this bass’s third owner (after its original owner in Italy and then Scott Devine over here in the UK). The bass is in excellent overall condition, with just one little ding/ scratch (which I’ve done my best to highlight in one of the pictures). If you’re not familiar with Alleva Coppolo, the instruments that they make are inspired by vintage Fenders, albeit with some modern refinements. Their LG4 models are based on 60’s Jazz Basses, meaning they use the same sorts of woods (alder for the bodies, maple for the necks and rosewood for the fingerboards) and pickup spacing. The LG4 basses also feature a 2 band preamp, specifically a bass and treble boost. On a personal note, I absolutely love this preamp, simply because it feels musical. If you crank either the bass or treble (or both) to their max settings, it doesn’t sound excessive or over the top, rather it feels usable and tasteful. Here are some specs: Scale length: 34” String spacing at bridge: 19mm Nut width: 38.1mm (1.5”) Fingerboard radius: 7.25” Weight: 4.5kg Neck shape: Vintage taper Hardware: Hipshot (chrome) Finish: Candy Orange (Urethane) Pickguard: Faux tortoiseshell The colour is quite interesting: in almost all light (bar particularly bright light), the bass looks very similar to Candy Apple Red. When the bass is bathed in bright light, the orange colour comes through. I’ve done my best to capture the colour in the pictures (the close-up shots have a closer likeness to the actual colour). This bass is a real dream to play. I’ve been lucky enough to play quite a few 60’s Jazz Basses, and with all sincerity I can say that this bass absolutely nails the sound of those instruments. There’s a real richness to the sound, one characterised by fat lows, slightly scooped mids and sparkling top end (I will do my best to get some recordings up over the next few days so that you don’t have to rely on my poor descriptions). The one thing that is noticeably different, however, is the feel of the neck on the Alleva. It has a real even smoothness that old Fenders (even well-played instruments) don’t get. It feels exceptionally comfortable up and down the instrument. The instrument also comes with a mismatched F Bass gig bag. Allevas usually come with ProTec Contego gig bags, but clearly that’s gone missing somewhere along the way… Regardless, the F Bass case is sturdy and well protected. The asking price for this bass is £3,800. Respectfully, I’m not interested in trades or part-exchanges at this time. Any questions, please just let me know. Thanks.
3. Would you mind explaining the preamp controls? I'm not familiar with John's stuff (which may amount to heresy on here 😅).
4. Here's a bit of a mystery for the bass connoisseurs out there: from this image, can anybody figure out the brand of this bass? A colleague is trying to find the answer and I've been struggling! Initially thought it could be a Schecter of some description, but that doesn't appear to be right. A long shot, I know, but thought I'd ask on the off-chance. Thanks

Just for some closure, I got an email back from Jordan (the bass player in the picture) confirming that it is indeed a Carvin. Appreciate you all - thank you!

Nah, it's a pretty cool one I think 😎

5. Thanks, @John Fox Bass- just sent a message via your site.
6. Does anybody know whether or not Cog Effects will start making pedals again? I really hope so - I've been really keen to try one of their T-16 octave pedals!

This has been discussed a few times over the past 18 months or so and it would appear that Tom is not making pedals at this time. I’ve tried contacting him directly regarding issues with a custom pedal I have, but have had no response.

Ah, okay - thanks for the heads up. I've tried getting in contact via their website and FB page but to no avail. Appreciate your response.

7. @binky_bassAll good! Appreciate the interest! And get some pick n mix (if that still exists...) with that pound 😅
8. @N64Lover Ha! Thank you for your interest all the same 🙂
9. Thank you, both 🙂 It's a lovely instrument for sure.
10. * THIS BASS HAS NOW SOLD* Hello everybody, For sale is my beautiful Fodera Imperial Elite 5-string. I ordered this bass in early 2013 and took delivery of it in early/ mid 2014. This is an incredibly versatile instrument, one that I've had the great pleasure of playing at home and abroad over the last seven years. Whilst it's always challenging to accurately describe the sound of an instrument, this bass strikes a really nice balance between sounding deep and fat, yet still articulate. One thing that I've always been really impressed by is the mid-range of this bass; even in large and noisy bands, the sound of the bass really manages to cut through, which is always nice! Relatedly, the onboard preamp is really powerful: in no particular order, there is a stacked volume/ tone knob, a pickup pan, knobs for adjusting bass, mid and treble, an active/ passive switch, a coil tap switch and a mid-range switch. As you can see, there are lots of parameters that can be tweaked... Visually, the maple burl top is really stunning in person; I've tried my best to capture it in the pictures - hopefully it comes across on screen! The bass also comes with the Fodera Teardrop case (as shown in the accompanying pictures). Whilst I have taken very good care of this instrument, there are a few light dings/ scratches, which I've done my best to capture in the pictures (specifically, in pictures 6-10). Other than that, the bass is in good condition. On the subject of pictures, if you would like any additional shots taking, please just let me know. I will work with the buyer to find a suitable method of getting the bass to them, although any shipping costs will be at the buyer's expense. Given the price and weight of the instrument (which, incidentally, is 10.8lbs/ 4.9kg), I would be more than happy to discuss hand-delivering the instrument (depending on the buyer's location) or finding a mutually convenient place in which to hand over the instrument, if appropriate. Any questions about delivery, or anything else related to this bass, please feel free to drop me a message. Please note, I am not interested in trades at this point in time. 11. Good luck with the sale, man. It's a beautiful bass!
12. Hello. Here is the second bass that I am selling: my beloved 1975 Fender Precision. I bought this bass for £2,000 back in February 2013 from Nick's Guitars (http://www.nicksguitars.com/) and it has been my go-to bass ever since. I bought it, as you see here in the pictures, with no pick-up or bridge covers and no original case (I actually bought it without any case at all). I am selling it WITH the Mono Vertigo case you see in the pictures below. Everything on this bass is original: the pots, tuning pegs, bridge, pick ups and scratchplate, in addition to the body and neck. Since being in possession of it I have restrung it with flats and that is all. This bass has a bottom end so pronounced it would make Beyoncé blush. I've used this bass on jazz standards and blues gigs and it works perfectly: playing around with the tone knob and plucking the strings close to the neck give it a pretty convincing upright sound. But this bass really comes into its own when playing Motown and soul music, as one would expect. It has that classic round and percussive sound at its core with sufficient midrange to ensure that it doesn't get too muddy. I've purposefully kept the action fairly high because I personally quite like the sound that's produced from really digging into the strings. The condition of the bass is fairly good. There are a couple of little dings here and there (I've tried to show this in some of the pictures) and on the reverse of the body there are 3 mystery circles... Other than that, the frets are in good shape, the input socket is quiet and the intonation is good. If you would like more pictures then just ask and I can send some more your way. At this time I am looking for money only (just to reiterate: I am NOT looking for trades). Bank transfer would be ideal although I am willing to talk with potential buyers about a payment method that works for them. I am based in Leeds and would welcome local pickup, or I am willing to travel to potential buyers (within reason). If the bass needs to be shipped then I am willing to split the cost of the shipping with the buyer. Any questions then please just let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for your time.
13.
These high end Zons are quite simply some of the best instruments I've ever played and the cost of them has risen considerably over the last 2-3 years. I'd estimate the wait time would be 18 months plus for a new one too! This also has to be one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen
Thanks for the kind words, Barrie. Yes, I've managed to play a few over the last two or three years and they are just wonderful instruments. They are also really pretty instruments and this one is certainly no exception.
14.
I've played this bass several times and it's one of the nicest basses I've ever played. It sounds incredible and the set up is superb. It really is a fantastic instrument and Jamie is a top guy to deal with and has really looked after it.
Thanks for the kind words, Geoff. It really is a wonderful bass and I hope that it can go on to give another lucky owner the same pleasure that it's given me.
15.
Sure Op doesn't mind me posting a link to where he got it, some really nice pictures in the thread! http://www.talkbass....e-woods-754674/ Very tempted by this?!
Not at all: I was going to post myself, but I wanted to show some shots of it in the flesh, as it were, rather than the studio quality shots shown in the original post linked here. The thing I've not really been able to get across entirely is just how nice the spalted alder looks like up close: I described it as not dissimilar in appearance to burnished gold and I think that description is pretty accurate.
16.
I had the pleasure of studying briefly with Todd Johnson a few years ago, and he let me play his bass. These are amongst the best basses you'll find anywhere. Pity this isn't a 6 string otherwise I'd be straight on the train up to Leeds .
It genuinely is one of the nicest basses I've played. It has a clarity to it that's even across the whole range of the instrument, something the you rarely find in other basses. Playing with Todd must have been quite an experience!
