Due to a very recent wrist operation and one still to have on my other, I've decided for the next 12 months I'll be going back to four strings (ive a Sire jazz 5 that's 34" and easier to play, in case I need a 5) I'll need to move this on, as it won't be played.

This is a 2011 Spector Euro 5LX, in natural. It is 35" scale neck through with an Alder body and a walnut centre piece, and a very well figured (for an older Euro) quilted maple top.

Pickups are the later CS (ceramic/steel) TW dual coils, which are splittable (via push/pull vol) into standard EMG single coils, so many different  tones are available. These Pickups are far warmer and more organic than the usual very bright EMG dual coils used, but still can be bright with the tone pump (with trimpot) adjusted. The bass has a satin finish and has a tone very reminiscent of a Ken smith,I've used it for soul and rock and sounds huge.

This bass has very much been a road warrior and his been gigged loads in its life, and as a result has a lot of bumps and dings, as well as some of the finish worn away above the front pickup( its a satin finish, so they ding easier), and a  chunk out of the treble side of the neck. This looks unsightly, but in no way interferes with the playability of this bass. I was going to get it filled, but it didn't bother me at all, to be clear it's a workhorse, and priced as such, you won't get a full fat neck through Spector 5 at this price.
The hardware, neck, and everything else about this bass works perfectly, currently strung with fairly new DR blue coated  strings and the weight is 4.46kg (just under 10llbs)

I will ship this to the UK only in a  stagg gig bag, and properly boxed for £1050

  2. 3Leaf Audio Proton - Version 3 (in funky purple) boutique envelope filter pedal from the USA, based on the Mutron.

I've not had this long and bought it from a lovely member of this forum. I've had a few 3 leaf filters and found this the easiest to dial in a great slurpy sound.

I'm needing a new rig,(an operation imminent on both wrists, is making me rethink my gear) and keep buying things with my gig money, so I have to move some gear on. I literally don't use envelope on its own, just with an octave on one tune, so owning this is really overkill.

Its in fantastic condition (velcro on bottom) and comes with  the original Box and manual.

From the manual  "The Proton is a modern homage to the classic Mutron III envelope filter. It has a wide frequency response that sounds great with every instrument. Version 3 has increased input sensitivity to work better with low-output instruments, and it adds a tone knob for variable control over the filter cutoff frequency."

Haha yes, Gary has an MBass too (he's my uncle). He's got me into Marleauxs massively now so I'm never going have any money ever again. I'd keep this one if i could but can't really afford to keep two.

I'm out with Sold to The Sky if that's who you think I am? 😝 Sadly I'm in Wrexham so wont be there at the Gaunt next week, Jonno is stepping back in for me. I'm assuming its Rocket Queen you're out with? Should be a good night that!

Lol! Yes I got it right 🤣

I play with Rocket Queen, I'm looking forward to it. Shame, I'll hopefully meet you another time 😊

Lovely bass, out if my budget, but someone will be very made up.

OK, so full range should be similar to MB - which is where mine sits.  The manual says "Compressor Ratio min/max: 1:1 - 5:1" ... my compression knob sits at around 10 o'clock, perhaps 10:30, so in simple logic, the 3:1 will be "familiar"... the "Attack Time (80%): <10 ms" doesn't tell me if it's fast, slow or medium rare (I really should know more about what goes on under the bonnet of my gear 🙄)

OK.... points in favour of the compressor I think

What have you hearrd?  While I did like the clarity of the MB2 - I used both channels together for "all" the tone hahahaha

I'd be interested to hear what you've heard!!

And thank you kindly, for replying

I've had a look online, and cant find what it was! but it was likely subjective Talkbass musings. I remember reading the core tone wasn't "as good" now the newer version is based on the HD360. While the MB2 was based on the HD350, I think the mids were revoiced or something. The MB3 looks a great piece of kit, and solves some of the MB2'S shortcomings (one channel only drive and mids, the other treble/bass with the tube sim and bright/enhance filters) and no auxiliary in (you could use the FX return though) tbe comp abd tuner is a fantastic addition. The build quality on the MB2 is fantastic, as ive not tried the MB3 I've No basis for direct comparison.

  5. I have an MB2 and it's been part of my sound for years. AFAIK the compression circuit is the same as the one in the heads, which I also used for years without any complaint. The difference with the multicomp is purely that its simpler. It is the full range (no MB or tube sim) and has a 3:1 ratio and a slow attack hardwired! Sounds great but limited for the tweaker, a tuner is a tuner. I'd be tempted to upgrade myself, but ive read that tonally it's not as good as the MB2 (totally subjective of course).

So if you only use full range on the comp and a low setting, it'll do what you need. By the looks of things they've improved the A/B functionality too.

  6. These Marleaux basses are sublime,Gary at promenade has a gorgeous one too (Mbass?) he let me have a go, beautiful build and they sound amazing.

If you are who I think you are we'll be sharing a bill next week Danny! 😊

I look forward to hearing the Mbass.

Bump for a fantastic bass, in a great colour.

  7. The EBS is one of my favourite filters! However I do NOT recommend the first version. It does not trigger well, making the downsweep unusable. Get the one with "true bypass" written on the front, its thevV2 abd they vastly improved the sensitivity. The new blue label, I've yet to try but bits on my list.
