2. ok then answer me this shall I go ahead with the perfect cond, as new Sennheiser e865s (rrp £170) for £80 or a SM58 for £75 ? I'm assuming the Sennheiser e865s will be better due to being rrp almost double the cost
3. I use a Ux2. Its awesome, best interface i've used. The model up from it is a waste of money though, its just the same with some garish dials on the front (:
4. cheers guys for all this , Im buying a S'heiser e865s RRP £170 for £85 in as new condition, only used twice I think ive found a deal

7. Thanks guys for your thoughts on this SM58 seems like a decent option I'll probably pick up one on the weekend if I dont come across a better deal by then The beta is going to be a bit out of my price range at the moment but I will look into those in the future. Is there much difference in the quality of the cables and if so, what sorta thing should I be looking at ?
8. I know this isnt the ideal place to post this, but I know you guys would give me good advice ! I've started doing main/shared vocals in my band whilst holding down the bass duties and now need a mic that is going to be built well and last touring/ intensive gigging. I dont know a hell of a lot about the different standard of mic's out there and would really appreciate a bit of insight from anyone with more knowledge than me in what would be a good buy.
9. Yeah, thats him ! They are really really good and yeah the singer does look like Daltrey If youre looking fora decent The Who tribute band then these are the guys you should see
10. I went to see these guys about a week ago, they cover The Who (if the name wasnt too obvious) The bassist was really tight and just generally impressive Didnt know what to make of his orange Bongo though Anyone else seen these guys before ?
11.
Cat-face ?
LOL cheers for the input guys. keep em coming speding the best part of tonight trying to find something
12. Ive got a new band and were really stuck for a name. We want a one word creation and we need it pretty soon due to a massive level of interest we have gained since forming. We play a strange, unique mix of Progressive/Groove/Southern/Melodic metal. Mastodon as the closest thing we can compare it to sound-wise. I'd really appreciate some help here as we have been looking for a name for ages and its becoming a bit of a nightmare. It dosent have to be anything obviously metal ( we want to avoid any stereotypical "brutal" names e.g. decapitated). So yeah any suggestions would be a huge help ! Cheers!
13. Welcome Lex, your streamers are awesome.

16.
I have found is that many bass players assume they have to play with a heavy pick "cos they are for bass" but you should get a whole pile of them and try different types and thicknesses.
+1 I have only ever used picks but am starting to learn to use my fingers I find the best pick for me is a Dava control, but i also like using the stubby triangles from time to time
17. If I can get there ,which is pretty much 50/50 atm ill bring my ESP B-254 ( not too interesting i know, just felt like i needed to contribute somehow )
18. HAHA sorry, I totally missed that somehow Its a vintage Peavey rig that consists of: 1 x Peavey Mark v111 Bass head 2 x 2x10 vintage peavey cabs (cant remember the model number) cheers Dan
19. Im sat in college trying to avoid coursework so i thought id write a follow up to my recording tips thread and an explanation of the band's situation now Right so heres the score Just after we booked the dates for recording, we parted ways with our guitarist who was impossible to work with. Our reviews at the time were pretty much stating that we sounded like killswitch engage / machine head. Anywho .. the recording didnt happen as we broke up soon after this and went on a break and I felt pretty bummed about the whole situation. So, last Tuesday the drummer, one remaining guitarist and I went for a jam in a local studio and some kind of magic happened. We wrote a 4 minute song which completely pisses on everything we had done before and has the sound of old school Metallica but in straight D. After being completely blown away with this practice, we decided that waiting for the next tuesday wasnt an option so we went back to the practice studio on the friday. After 20 minutes of playing old stuff including the song from the tuesday before, we started jamming a riff that in an hours time would be another awesome song. I never thought it would be the case, but a break was the best thing to happen to us and are now forming a fresh band with a new lead guitarist and vocalist . Were now left looking for a vocalist (Swindon) who is influenced by old school thrash/metal/hardcore. And now, we are finally going into the studio during mid April ! Cheers to everyone who has given their advice, im looking forward to putting it into practice. Dan
