1. Ahhh sorry guys, cheers mate haha!
2. http://soundcloud.com/vanzandt17 Hey guys this is the link to my soundcloud account. its the first bassline i have recorded and put up on there. Its only a real simple minute and a half little run, just wanted to know what you guys think. Im aware there are a couple mistakes, i just had some time on my hands and wanted to try this out quickly. Any comments are appreciate, constructive criticism is desired over any harsh remarks. Thank you very much The above is the ammended link, cheers!
3. ......mmm very nice mate may be interested, weighing out these or a squier......
4. Hey, I have a Dean Electro-Acoustic Bass, which cost about £180 new. I think it puts out a pretty decent sound, especially for the price, an amp would obviously help though when you're playing along with others. I think the reason that the sound is kinda big, is because of the size of the bass. The body is HUGE! And it allows for a big booming sound. This is great as it doesnt cost too much and sounds pretty loud unplugged, a downside is that finding a case for it has proved difficult. I've had it for almost 2 and a half years now, and my search hasn't been successfull. There are some online when i last checked in the US, but they dont ship to the UK, and for a hard case (along with shipping and maybe customs) I'd probably end up spending as much as I had done on the bass itself. The size of the guitar does make it a little more tough to play as you need to adjust to having that big body in the way, it was a big shift from playing my Precision. But you get used to it. But if that doesnt bother you, then its a pretty good bass I say , it looks rather beautiful, has a nice comfortable neck.
5. You should try a Westfield mate. Only £120 hahaha!!!!! But really, i have one with a great maple neck, there's nothing wrong with saving money right . Some of the Yamaha BB series I've played are nice and around £350ish if you're still open to suggestions. Good luck with the search
6. Ahhh that Sunburst thunderbird with the USA pick ups in looks good!! And just when i thought i'd decided on a bass......
7. Yeah i have fancied those for ages, but i hear an awful lot of bad things about epiphone thunderbirds thats puts me off. Neck dive etc :/
8. I played some MIM's too and wasnt really excited by them. I was considering ordering a BB424 online (i played one a few days back and it felt good!), doesn't it concern you buying the bass without playing that particular bass first? Edited: Poor sentence structure haha!
9.
Your best option is to keep searching and take your time then. What are you searching for that you're not finding? It could be that you're searching for a mythical beast here afterall
I have a sound in mind that i'd like, when it comes to appearence i'm not too fussy i dont think. I want something with a real big thud and punch! The p's i played didn't give me that enough, eventhough they sounded good. :/ I've been considering getting a bass made by Spector or Dean or maybe ESP (ltd) , i dont play much heavy metal (more of the harder rock stuff)) but i thought maybe these basses might have a bigger kick.....
10. I have had a Westfield for about 3 years which sounds pretty cool to me. The tuners are a little loose, but it feels fine. (I sometimes use strings which are around 3 years old too!!) And it cost about £100..... Edited: added price
11. Fortunately, my visit to guitarguitar yesterday was far better! I spoke to them about the guys at the other music store and they were more than helpfull, talking to me about what i listen to, trying out the basses themselves and telling me what they think! A really great team of staff I recommend it Only issue, amongst the basses I played, they were all good (I played a lot of Mexican and US P basses, the US models are out of my budget but i wanted to play around on them so i could have something to campare the Mexicans against), i wasnt really hooked on any of them. I'm still yet to find a bass i feel happy parting £350+ on :/
12. Sweet bass dude, hows the build quality?
13. No the shop wasn't PMT. But yeah I guess i could try a different approach, i will try talking to the guys at the store a little more next time around. Tell them my budget and what im after. But in my defence, i did try talking to the guy a little, i found out he's a guitarist and plays an american Fender and also has a schecter haha!
14. Yeah of course, if i'd taken up an awful lot of time i would understand their issues more so. But 30 ,minutes isn't really much at all. I hope so , i will report back with my guitarguitar experience, really hope they have some Jacksons in stock but i doubt it :/
15. Hello guys, Thought i'd share with you all an interesting story, it happened amidst my search for a new bass. So today, i thought i'd get to a guitar store in Birmingham and give some of their basses a try. I was hoping to play through quite a few, as i had alot of free time, and wanted to narrow down my options. Anyway, I had a little play on a MIM Fender P, which was okay. The action was a little high for my taste and it simply didn't feel as though it was worth £500! There was nothing really that great about it. And so i played a CV Squier as there have been some great review about these. I imagine their are some gems out their but this one wasn't cool. After about the 9yh fret on the G string their was an awful lot of buzz. Plus, and its only minor but still, there was a small chip in the fretboard. I then moved onto an Ibanez SR500, which played very nice, although the neck and body were a little slim. I then asked the guy at the store if i could play a Yamaha (from the BB series). To my surprise, he said to me that as i wasn't buying a bass today, that the Yamaha was the last one I was allowed to play!!! I was startled! SOOO ridiculous! Most people seem to agree (on forums etc) that music store clerks are fine with playing around with the equiptment, this store wasn't!! I was in there for a grand total of 20/30 minutes! Has anybody else ever had this? Anyway, the Yamaha was cool, nice and chunky, felt like it fit me fine. Im yet to be really impressed by the four I played today...i hope to go to guitarguitar tomorrow and try some out - if they are ok with that of course. Cheers
16.
I have a B206. On the '+' side, the pickups have a good healthy growl and the build quality is immaculate. On the '-' side, I find the string spacing a little wide and it's far too heavy to play for more than an hour.
Ahhh ok, my current bass is a little heavy as it is! I like that its well built though....always convincing haha
17.
I tried to use it for an acoustic rock project a couple of weeks ago, and it was about as appropriate as singing your kids to sleep through a loudhailer.
Hahaha! Thanks for the info, yeah that concerns me a little, i'd rather something with a little more versatility. Korean made is it?
18. It seems i start too many threads on this forum, my apologies haha!! I had a little serach through the forum, but there wasn't much info on these guitars. Nevertheless, I was curious as to whether anybody has played any basses from the ESP ltd range? I'm still on the hunt for a bass, these go for pretty cheap too ! Here's a link if you want to check them out: http://espguitars.com/basses.html Cheers
19.
Don't get hung up on being US or Jap made. The quality of Korean and other eastern made instruments right now is brilliant...especially around that price range.
Indeed, i've heard great things about Squier's CV and VM range....maybe somebody with experience of one could shed some more insight.....
20.
SX?
Do they sell SX basses in the UK? I had a little search a while back and didnt find a thing!
