1. ......looked on US Amazon and it can be had for $39 or so;

Similar price over here in £'s ?

    We'll see........

  2. Looks like all his albums made with Epic are being re-mastered and available in a box set

Not seen on Amazon yet - the chappie on no treble says no new tracks - whilst strictly true - some missing tracks from the vinyl version of "I wanna play for you", namely "Off the planet" - a piccolo bass tour de force (!) is on there - worth the price of entry alone methinks - plus the tracks on that particular album are now in the same order as the vinyl as I remember it - showing my age here !

One thing I'd like to ask - on the later album "Future Shock", the track "Heaven Sent" on the CD is quite a different mix from that of the vinyl version - and vastly inferior to my ears. Anyone know if you can get a CD that mirrors exactly the vinyl version ?? Maybe a Japanese version perhaps ?

  3. The PB62FL had a basswood body and Japanese pickups - wouldn't let that put you off - sounds great with the unlined maple neck.

The PB70US-84FL had an ash body and US pickups - the "84" part of the model number related to the price in Japan - 84,000 yen.

  4. As I remember - back in 2005 or so there were a couple of choices - a sunburst with unlined rosewood - PB62FL - I've seen a few of these on e-bay and should be reasonably easy to find

Also - an ash body with unlined maple fingerboard - PB70US-84FL - these are a good bit more rare.

I know about these as I bought both and swapped necks !

They both make for fantastic fretless P-basses - whether you swap necks or not........

Only way of obtaining one would be e-bay, ishibashi in japan - used only I'm afraid - or perhaps far east guitars - http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/

Perhaps others may suggest some decent sources

Good luck with your hunt !

  5. Any girls out der wit any oirish in em........

.....my oh my........why do things like this turn up when funds are in retreat !

Been hankering after one of these for years........

  6. ......well, looking forward to the album. However, I have a gut feeling six months down the line after the "Classic Rock" release and the initial label release - you'll get the "extended version" with a DVD of the making of the album or the "bluray 5.1 mix" will come out - i.e., the record label milking it.

    Call me cynical........

How about Steve Wilson produces the next album though ?

  7. Interesting ! - I knew the 4- and 5-strings have been in the pipeline for a while but have taken an age for Warwick to get them right. The 6-er is quite unusual - usually the preserve of people like Shuker or Kinal.

Would definitely try first before buying - have always fancied a fretless 4- or 5-string Alien with flatwounds mind.........

  8. Finished.............now on its way over the pond.

Not looking forward to tax and import duties. Should be with me late this week early next week.

Great guy to deal with - I was having real time conversations with him via e-mail/iPhone photos about pickup placement - brilliant !

  10. Good old iPlayer !

  11. Swapped my unlined maple fingerboard equipped fretless Lakland 55-02 for Kevins Wal fretless mk I with significant funds going his way (ouch!).

Kevin was a breeze to deal with and a credit to the forum. No hesitation in recommending him as a top bloke to have bass dealings with.

  12. Very pleased to have done business with our roon.

Excellent comms and extra quick payment.

Absolutely no hesitation in recommending him as good bod to have bass dealings with.

Enjoy all those strings dude !
