Just heard this album in Tidal recently -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxOIY-2OTWE
Well worth a listen - I'd describe it as well written poppy prog - if that appeals
Lee Pomeroy on bass and Trevor Horn produced so that may give you an insight into what it sounds like - elements of Buggles, Police, Tears for Fears, Trevor Rabin era Yes Id say. -
I've had a few over the years and all have been excellent. My current - see avatar - has the body of a PB62FL and the neck of a PB70USFL (sometimes PB70US-84FL - linked to price in Japan) - It's a colour/neck combo I've always wanted.
If you prefer Jazz basses then there is of course the JB62FL.
Best place to try apart from this forum would of course be e-bay, preferably from a seller in Japan - usually great to deal with - read, honest about condition and will pack and ship well.
I got my basses new from Ishibashi - just before they got stopped by Fender from selling new basses. You can get used basses from their "U-box" http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/
Nothing fretless there at present but you could fire an e-mail to them - they might have a "contact" that can get one from
I always enjoy the hunt - wouldn't mind bagging a PB70US-TL (Phil Lynott) P-Bass - from somewhere tbh - might fire them an e-mail myself.....
Good luck ! -
Sad to hear of Ricos passing - his playing brought delight to many over the years.
He played with Linton Kwesi Johnson amongst many others - I just adore this album and can recommend it to anyone - some great bass playing too !

A true bass hero of mine and a true original - my mind was truly blown when I first heard him in 1980 and it still gets blown when I listen to him now - such invention and imagination in his playing. Long may it continue !
Many thanks for supplying the interview btw.

I must admit...as being a lapsed Rick user I find these new 4003S bases are very tempting. Just hope they've managed to get the QC sorted out. Imagine one of these - mapleglo of course - with a toaster and a horseshoe........
I'm sure I've read of someone converting one of these into a 4000 replica already. Loved the picks of the picks of the 4000 a few posts ago btw.
Some more soundings from people who've bought or tried one out would be great and very much appreciated........... -
I sold a Fender Modern Player 5 to Vic and found him to be a credit to this forum. Funds arrived quickly and he kept regular comms throughout the transaction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to everyone !
Cheers Vic !

....don't forget his playing on a few Brand X albums too in the late 70's - try out the "Product" and "Do they hurt" albums and perhaps "Is there anything about".
These albums also feature the genius that is Percy Jones ! -
Still up for grabs !

Up for sale is my immaculate Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass V. Satin black with maple neck and fingerboard. Nut width 47.6mm, width at 12th fret is 67mm - weighs 4.5 kilos on my scales.
Bought new a year ago and is in as new condition - even has plastic covers still on pickups and pick guard.
Plays wonderfully - as good as any of the Laklands I have owned in the past - 55-01 and 55-02.
Reviewed well on YT - go have a look ! Gives you a feel for the tonal variety the bass has with is pretty vast.
No trades unfortunately as need funds for other domestic projects.
Firm on the price (£295.00 plus shipping) as is an absolute bargain - costs over £400 new.
Will be supplied in the box it came in with some added padding.

Looks the bees knees !
Looking forward to your review -
Stick a J pickup in one of these ?
http://www.theguitar...-FJ-PB62-FL.htm
I bought one of these from Ishibashi in about 2006 for oh about half the price above and stuck a neck from another Japanese P Bass - (PB70US ?) with an unlined maple fingerboard - see below.
Could look out on e-bay or "nearly new" from Japan I guess.
I prefer my fretless P Basses to have the "TV" decal on them - don't know if that would be a biggie with you ? -

Just sold my Warwick Thumb 6 to Chris - very easy/swift transaction with great comms - wouldn't hesitate in doing business with him again.

Hello there just curious about something, is the serial a-000009 94?
...nope ! -
....could possibly trade for some kind of Status 5/6-string headless bass - fretted or fretless - i.e., Streamline, S1, S2, S5000, Stealth etc.
Please get in touch if interested !
Remembering John Glascock (once more)
in General Discussion
Posted
In light of the recent re-release of the Songs from the Wood album - 40 years ! - I'd like to put some love out there for the work of John Glascock - melodic, adventurous and a sheer bloody joy to listen to. Some good footage of them live in the accompanying dvd. He plays a lovely natural Stingray with white pickup cover.........
Songs from the Wood and Heavy Horses were the albums that drew me into Tulls music - a lot of that due to JG !
