Bump for new info and pics!!!
-
Looking good there Higgie :-) I'm looking forward to seeing yours finished and all together. I have an Oly white set neck jazz being made by Jon at the moment. I've not seen any pics for a while but he said the neck is now stuck in place, fretted up and ready for finishing.
His basses are always amazing so I'm sure this one will be as great as the 4 string you already have. I can't wait to see your finished pictures... -
This is killing me...I'd love this bass but quite apart from having another custom Shuker on order, I don't have the funds for this beauty!
Good luck with the sale...Someone is going to get a fantastic bass. -

Thanks for the offer Ian. I'm going to give it a little while and see if a cash buyer comes along...they do both look very nice though, particularly the fender!!
It is indeed Peted...I know I'll miss it :-s

Updated with more pictures and information -
Up for sale only is my awesome handmade Shuker 5 series II bolt-on completed in December 2009. This really is a fantastic bass with huge flexibility sound-wise...if I didn't have another bass on the way, this would stay with me but I really have to operate a one in, one out policy at the moment.
The spec is below, along with pictures and a showreel of recordings I've made with the bass.
The bass has had lots of playing but is in great condition with no major dings or dents - 8.5/10 !! (I have included a picture of a tiny surface scratch on the finger board at the first fret. It's really not that big or deep but I wanted to show it.)
The frets we're levelled at the last service and, as I then received a new SC bass from Jon, this bass hasn't seen many playing hours since so they are also in great shape.
Now fully serviced, fret polish and new strings!!!
This bass new, with the various options, would cost over £2000 and there would be a 9-12 month wait for delivery....
I am based in London and can ship within the UK, Europe all at buyers expense. Trials are also possible for the more local buyer.

Let me know if there's anything I've missed :-) Thanks for looking!! -
Lovely looking 5 string...!!! The neck and headstock colour is fantastic...
There are a few questions I have, can you let me know the string spacing at the bridge and the nut width. Would you also be able to send me a picture of the preamp inside the bass?
Thanks in advance,
T -
That's a shame, I was just about to PM you about buying...!! Oh well I should have done it sooner.
Glad you made the sale anyway
T -
Hi Pat,
What is the string spacing? And where are you based?
Cheers,
Tiernan -
Looking SWEEEET!!! Great colour....I can't wait to see it all assembled.

I've been using a pair of Sound Magic PL30s for in ear monitoring and also silent practice at home...in both cases the sound is superb to my ears. They have a really clear and faithful presentation of what's being put through them and bass is warm but clear, certainly not wooly in any way! Only cost about £30 when I bought them...PL50s are also meant to be amazing!
Worth a look I'd say... -
Hey Pete1967,
Did your bass get finished? I'd love to see some pics.
Cheers
T -
Lovely bass you have there. A couple of questions -
Do you know the string spacing?
What is the weight?
What is the sale price?
Thanks :-)
Also the year if you know it... -
So after a few teething problems I've finally managed to get the preamp into the bass and...well it's absolutely fantastic!! Really versatile and very musical ranges on the boost/cut frequencies.
I opted for the 2.1 with a stacked volume/passive tone; blend; bass; stacked hi & low mids & treble pots. I also got an active passive switch, a single/dual coil switch and a kill switch.
Starting from flat, you have a great sound when switched on and it's easy to dial in a great slap tone, a warm smooth tone for the ballads or get that Motown thump with the help of the passive tone. I also noted that the passive tone on this has a very smooth roll-off and seems to leave a little more life in the sound when wound all the way back...but maybe that's just my ears!
Although I liked the transparent nature of the Shuker preamp, this adds a bit of 'sparkle' to the flat sound which to my ears is great.
I'd certainly recommend this preamp to anyone looking to upgrade an active bass. On top of that, Mike is a top guy and was majorly helpful.
I'd also concur with 'luccabf', this is super easy to install with almost no soldering at all...or none in my case-

Thanks for the tuppence eude...I've spoken to MCRuiz and will hopefully be getting to check one of the 5ers out over the weekend.
The principal of the neck sounds great and it's good to know there isn't much adjustment needed. My only other concern is the sound the bass will make in terms of the clarity of the pickups, but it sounds like they should be pretty transparent and the rest is down to me I guess

Great...thanks for the answers. The asymmetric neck sounds really interesting.
Tiernan -
Hi Alan,
I really like the look of your J type 5 5HP bass 0098 in the available section but I wanted to ask about the radius on the fretboard and what is meant by the term asymmetric neck shape?
Thanks,
Tiernan -

Sale Pending...! I'll update if it doesn't happen.

Mid week bump...any offers for a fantastic cab??
-
Thanks Nik....they really can deliver a fantastic sound.
PM me Mr Lovel if you fancy it :-) -
EBS, I wouldn't know which would work better but I'd putt in your number 1 bass and see if you like it. They do look really easy to install (as Roger said) so you could have it in and out without too much pain. It sounds like once it's in, it'll stay there!
Roger, what pickups are in your Presentation? I have a set of Delano SBCs in my bass but the slap sound doesn't really come through as I'd like it too. I'm kind of hoping the Flexcore will bring it out a bit. Either that or I may swap them out for some Nordy duals or Aeros Duals..! -
I have one that will shortly be going in my Shuker SC..! I'll give you a shout when it's in and maybe arrange for some sound samples.
On the surface, they look great but until it's in, you never know how it'll fit with the bass.
What's the bass you're thinking of putting it in? -
Thanks guys...'This really is a cracking cab' type bump!!
