  2. *** OFFERING THE COMPLETE RIG FOR £1050 - RIG CONSISTS OF THE BULLEAD .5K AMP AND THE TRICKFISH 210V CAB - This will need to be picked up from south wales or surrounding area - could meet potentially somewhere if coming from further a field **** link to the ad for the cab is here - Trickfish Bullhead .5K amplifier for sale. This is a very stylish and seriously nice sounding bass amplifier. Featuring a Michael Pope designed preamp and EQ section mated with a great sounding Class D power section, this amp is very light and portable whilst still very loud and punchy at 500watts. The EQ is very musical and set flat the amp has a natural warmth, with a thick low end and smooth high end tone. The DI is very high quality and is also very smooth and not harsh at all. I spoke to the late Richard Ruse about this and he told me they use the highest possible components possible throughout the amp. Other features include a mute switch, hi/lo input switch, aux in, headphone socket and FX loop. Amp is in good condition and has been racked in a flightcase for most of the period I have owned it. There's a slight scratch/dent on the top edge. This isn't viewable once racked due to the nature of the amp sitting back in rack with the rack ears attached. There's two spots where the case has rubbed against something in the flightcase and a bit of paint has slightly worn away. Doesn't effect the amp at all and is in full working order. Includes manual, rack ear kit and original box, so can courier it within UK. Reason for sale is my small studio room in my house is starting to look a bit like a bass store and it's stressing me out!! I am also selling the Trickfish 210v cab which obviously matches well with this amp! £600 plus courier costs within UK or collection from Cardiff or surrounding area. £600 delivered fully insured by courier. Or local collection and will negotiate on price. Thanks Thanks for viewing.
  3. I do a lot of fucntion gigs and I have gone down this road of buying pedals to recreate sounds, help fill out the sound when a client doesn't book a full lineup. I eventually played one gig with no effects, just a tuner. Did not miss the effects at all, in fact it was much more fun solely concentrating on playing bass and enhancing the songs musicially. Haven't looked back since doing it. For me , effects are more usefull in a creative situation where I am writing/performing original material... or if you REALLY need to have that sound. Also, I found the temptation to go full on Tim Lefebvre in Uptown Funk or great... and rightly got some looks! haha
  4. Recently sold Tony an amp on basschat. A very understanding and helpful guy as the amp arrived not working as it should. He was very nice about it where many maybe wouldn't have been and checked the amp inside for any damage and also gave it 24 hours to check it hadn't just gone into protection mode. He returned the amp promptly when we agreed the issue wasn't fixable and I refunded him, and did a very good packing job too... Took a while to open it again. Despite the obvious problem with the amp, he did not doubt me that the amp was working when it left me and we resolved the issue together and would happily sell to him again. The amp is now with a tech hopefully getting fixed!
  5. Will split £600 for the amp head (not inclduing flightcase) can courier this as have original box carton at buyers expense £600 for the cab - local collection or would be willing to meet half way if not too far
  6. Hi I dont have the time to record sound samples im afraid but this video with garth fielding is very good at giving an impression of what the bass sounds like and can do!
  7. Would be happy to courier within UK.
  8. Hey @Marcoelwray I really haven't played any jazz basses that aren't fenders apart from the FGN. None that were memorable anyway. Compared to my US Fender 75 Reissue the FGN has as similar sort of vintage tone but more solid and modern in terms of having a lot more low end and high end, increased sustain and just more responsive to your playing. It's probably a more comfortable instrument to play and sounds like a bigger fatter, vintage Jazz bass. I've read people comparing them to sadowsky but I can't comment having never played one. The fit, quality of build, components and finish is amazing. There is a video on YouTube of session bassist Garth Fielding playing and raving about the basses. My brother in law has a 2000s jazz us standard and it blows that away. For a huge rock tone, they sounded incredible through my old orange 8x10 and ad200b compared to my jazz, my neo classic fgn jazz or lakland p bass. We used to play a lot of 500-1000+ venues in Europe and it just sounded thunderous. Huge punch and attack, and I think the frequency range of the bass was just bigger if that can be a thing, that's what it felt like anyway.
  9. Thank you @TheGreek It's an incredible sounding and playing bass. Just not getting used anymore, too many basses!
  10. Yep the one of the photo is a bright dog and my girlfriends dog, I have a black pointer cross who is a complete idiot, a bit like me! Back to the bass I have added photos of the hardcase and picture of the fretguard on the bass and also the weight of the bass.
  11. @marcoelwray hi, sorry no trades
  12. a @haimesyjust checked the weight and it's between 4.7 and 5.0kg. hope that helps. @shakaflea
  13. Haha, I didn't even notice her until I uploaded them!
  14. Putting this stunning and slightly unusual bass up for sale. This is an FGN Mighty Jazz Private Reserve Bass. Sort of a super Jazz bass so to speak, built by the Japanese Guitar Fujigen company in Japan, responsible for a lot of Fender Japan guitars and I think also Ibanez. It's a beautiful bass and top of the range for this line, Private Reserve is sort of like their custom shop as far as I know. The bass features: A two piece ash body in tobacco burst 24 fret Maple neck with maple fingerboard Black pearl inlay markers Passive Jazz bass electronics with V V T controls Black scratch plate and black hardware, hi mass bridge and gotoh vintage style tuners. Bridge is strung through body or top loading. Always had it strung through the body. I used the bass for touring for about two/three years and is an incredibly well made and sounding instrument. Through a valve head and 8x10 it sounded monstrous! Feels lovely to play, has a really nice action and the fretwork is amazing. The body finish is a high gloss but the neck has a really nice satin finish which is very smooth and feels natural. There are a couple of dings on the bass I've tried to show on the photos, nothing serious or hugely noticeable and considering the amount of shows and travelling the bass did is testament to it's quality as an instrument. The black finish on the bridge has worn away a bit, I'm not exactly sure how they treated the hardware but it looks quite cool in a well played but loved instrument way. The expert range of this bass tend to sell for about £1550/1600 new. I don't know if they actually sell the private reserve models. This bass was gifted to me through an endorsement deal with FGN back in 2012. My contact with the company has since left and I no longer hold a deal with the company. I'll be sad to see it go, but I just don't use it anymore really and I already have too many basses kept under the bed for nostalgia!! Any questions please send me a message.... The Chug is not included in the sale!! Haha Includes hard case. Weight is about 4.7 - 5kg on the bathroom scales.

  16. For sale is one of my Warwick Hellborg Mono 500 Poweramps. This came to me in a trade along with the Hellborg preamp last year. I recently bought a second one which became part of my main rig, with this one which is for sale becoming a backup. However, I've found myself forever shifting it around my studio room and it's bit overkill keeping two of them so it's time for it to go. The power amp is in good working order, tho it has been toured and racked a number of times so there is wear to the mountain holes, a couple of small scratches and rack rash in the lid tho once it's racked these aren't visible or very noticeable. There is a slight harmonic distortion behind the notes when you play through the power amp. It's not an unpleasant sound at all, but I should highlight it is not a pristine, clean sound. However I've found somewhat the same thing with my new mono 500 and after a discussion with fellow basschatter @three, who has experienced the same thing with a couple of these amps we have come to conclusion it must be part of the sound. Some people can't even hear it, so it might just be us with the superior hearing haha! All the lights work on the front panel and I have used this power amp myself on a few gigs and I haven't had any issues with it. Local pickup in South Wales or could courier at buyers expense. More than welcome to come and try out the power amp.
  17. Still available. This complete rig would cost over £1900 new. Would take £1300 for the complete rig and flightcase
  18. Korg Monologue in Gold for sale. In excellent condition, includes the power supply that isn't usually included with the synth. Great little synth, very easy to use and create some great bass synth sounds. You can also use the synth as a filter for other instruments. I've never tried this tho, but sure it could create some interesting effects. Comes boxed including manuals etc. £175 plus £15 P&P or local pickup in Cardiff/surrounding area pics to follow
  19. Putting this awesome compressor up for sale. Simply the nicest pedal compressor I have used ever. Has an amazing clarity and warmth, I actually used it more for it's tonal qualities than it's compression, using it to just control my dynamics a little. Sounds great with the low B on a 5 strings and it really does punch when the compressor kicks in. A couple of very small scratches, dents to the faceplate.. probably inevetable to happen. Pedal works perfectly! This pedal has a lot of fans including Janek Gwizdala, Ric Fiberacci etc - plenty of videos on youtube of peple demonstrating the pedal. The only reason for selling is when that I don't seem to need to use it with my new hellborg rig, and also just trying to keep set up as simple as possible. Though I'm hoping somebody buys this before I hook it up and play through it can completely change my mind!! £230 posted within UK
  20. Hey wimbish. I can only comment on the club cab and lo cab. The sound is incredibly clear and articulate with the club cab. It's full range I think and yes, many people describe it more like a studio monitor than a typical bass cab. However it is also still very warm and punchy and find that I shape my sound using the Hellborg pre much in the same way as if you were using a console in a studio. I tend to boost the bass, cut a fair bit of 800hz boost a bit of 3 or 5k and then slightly roll off the treble which takes the very high end off needed or I might leave it flat. I wouldn't compare it to a traditional speaker and tweeter combination cab, the tone sounds together as one thing not two things working separately... If that makes sense?! I haven't got an overdrive at the moment, but I think you'd need to shape the tone with the Hellborg EQ to make it sound pleasant or have some sort of EQ on the drive pedal to shape the drive before hitting the amp.
