might have to go to this one, i had tickets to see them in manchester last year but was brutally ill with violent vomit and poo escapades!
    i was well gutted. :0

    Gutted indeed...!

The RAH is a good venue and sounds good too - only downside is the beer prices

  2. In my experience, it's all in the wrist action - get that nice and loose and the rest will fall into place.

There are many ways to hold a pick and many pick shapes and thicknesses - find what you feel most comfortable with.

I'm not a fan of very heavy picks (many bass players use very thick/stiff picks 1mm or more thick). I use Tortex yellow (0.73mm) or green (0.88mm).

Practice with a drum loop or metronome downstrokes and up/downstrokes and remember that palm muting with your picking hand can be fantastically effective:

Sounds like you need to update your Flash player: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Take the tick out of the Google toolbar option first...

I think there's quite a good sennheiser one too which is a bit cheaper, but I can't remember what it's called.....

    ...Sennheiser E865 ?

I would give the AT a try and see how it fares - it could be excellent if you don't play too loud.

Condensors generally give a little more openess and detail which, depending on your singer, can make all the difference.

The CE2 is very good - I've got the Amdek version from the early 80s (same circuit, different box) and it sounds very good...I like it a lot more now than I did back then!

I agree the CE2 is a lovely chorus.

I agree it's great (and I have one for sale in the Effects for Sale section ;) ) but I don't think the flanger is great TBH, which is why I'm selling it because I mostly need flanger. if you are mostly after a chorus, it's great to have that little added versatility there with that flanger, but if flanger is your main thing you're not gonna be satisfied with what this one offers.

...sounds like you need a 1970s Electric Mistress ;)

    I would shy away from a 15" cab and go for a 2x10 or a 4x10.
you don't lose any bottom end
I would say this would be the best plan too - get a 4X10 extension cab for a monster 6X10 stack.

A 12 and a horn is probably the optimum configuration for vocal cabs. For pubs you should be able to get away with 250 watts of amplifier power, although more is always better.
I agree with this - what are you intending to put through the PA...?

If it's just for vocals, I would also suggest going with 12" + horn cabs...the 15" cabs I've tried are always hit and miss with vocals (same for wedge monitors).

I think that, on the whole, if you've paid a lot of money for something it's human nature to convince yourself that it's made an improvement way above it's actual measurable effects. You find this especially with high-end home audio equipment - and exotic woods in electric guitars.

It might make a difference, but there's always a point (usually quite low) at which price has no further effect on quality and only has an effect on marketing and bullshit.

Ah - the law of diminishing returns...

I use Roto RB40 nickel and find they work well for me - nice feel and good tone with decent life...and only £12 a set.

I'm tempted by this thread to try some DR Lo-Riders and also Picato sounds interesting...

  9. Here's a decent temporary stopgap:

  10. I've had an H4 for a few years now and find it extremely useful and good quality.

An added advantage is the XLR ins which allows the use of serious studio condenser mics rather than the built-in ones - it even supplies Phantom power but best used on a mains adapter if you are using the Phantom option.
