1.
See my other thread. Check your email or server settings aren't blocking basschat.admin (at) googlemail.com.I
Thanks Kiwi, it's not server settings, haven't figured out what's doing it yet ... I have two accounts subscribed at the moment, both created since the facelift. The EdwardCunliffe one created with a Facebook login doesn't receive any notifications, the new Stratosphere account created directly on BassChat does.
2. Great thread. I'm pretty new to all this, currently working on Cream; Sunshine of your Love, and Pink Floyd: Money. And scales and arpeggieos ...
3. Oh I see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_(Internet) But at least I'm getting notifications on the new account!
4. Eh?
Sock Puppet!!
5. And here's me again with a totally separate account for testing porpoises! Ed
6. Oh right, thanks. I'll try and figure it out and will post back here if I do. As a new boy I've never seen the old basschat ...
7. Hi, if I disassociate my Facebook account I can't seem to log in directly onto basschat though I have an email address and password set. I'm not clear whether disassociating FB removes my BC account completely or if I've found a bug? Point of the exercise is to get my email notifications working ... Thanks, Ed
8. Welcome in, I'm new myself, been learning 2 months, Zoom B2 multi effects thing coming wit te fat guy in the red suit on Sunday, not really sure what it does yet but it seems to do a bit of everything, may be worth looking at. Cheers, Ed (GSR300 - and love it deeply)
9. Many thanks all, all comments very useful indeed and taken on board. I haven't been able to crank the thing up to decent power yet (neighbours) but as soon as they go out ... Also I'm nowhere near slapping yet, still working on scales, arpeggios and a few basic riffs and songs so I'm sure all the various settings I have to play with on the amp and the bass will all make sense in due course. I'm mostly playing with flat settings on the bass and a sort of wave on the equaliser which has given me the warm tone I'm looking for at the moment so it's all good, just needed to understand what the TE sound was supposed to be doing. Cheers, Ed
10. Thanks Sid, I bought the bass brand new only a few months ago but I'll check it's disconnecting anyway. Current battery still working so I'm fairly sure it was a duff battery. cheers, Ed
11. So I'm a 2 month learner and have picked up a good condition Trace Elliott 715 Combo 200w amp from another forum member. Very pleased with it, just what I needed. It starts up with the 7 band equaliser off and the 'Pre Shape' on which is a bit of a pain 'cos it doesn't sound that good to my ear (in my living room with active Ibanez SR300) but once I've fiddled it's great and I'm very happy (Pre shape off, Equaliser on ...). Manual says: (6) PRE SHAPE switch This activates the circuit for the classic Trace Elliot ‘Mid Pre-Shape’ that all users of previous Trace Elliot graphic style amplifiers will recognise immediately. As it is our ‘signature sound’, these amplifiers are designed to default to this setting when initially turned on. When this is activated the yellow LED is lit. So what is the TE signature sound meant to be anyone? I assume it'll sound vastly different in a larger space? Thanks, Ed
12. I love this thread, keep going please! Ed (Learner)
13.
Yes, based on what you see on forums it seems it's surprisingly common for them to be wired up wrong!
Thanks's I'll investigate further. ~Ed
14. Comments on batteries all noted and very valid, thank you. I suppose I should check mine is disconnecting properly whe the lead is unplugged. Ed
15. Thanks all, I'm using pound shop, or internet Duracells. Current one is down to 7volts but still working fine with no perceivable degradation in performance. This one may have been in for 3 months now with maybe an hour to two hours of use a day. The last one ended up at 2 volts (no output) so may not have been a genuine Duracell anyway. I think a backup battery could fit in the cutout where the rest of the electronics are but two batteries a year is fine as long as I have a spare standing by. Two currently in the guitar bag, both checked at 9.6 volts ...
16. And the more expensive models have an EQ bypass switch ...
17. Just found this: http://www.ibanez.com/supportResources/wiring/2008/EQB_3B.pdf which helps a little. I'm a beginner so I'm not really using any of the super duper EQ possibilities, keeping everything flat for now until I know what I'm doing. I may have had a duff battery 'cos the last one went very quickly (I do unplug in between practice sessions) but current one seems to be doing OK. Thanks, Ed
18. Hi all, quick question, I have an Ibanez SR300 active bass, not entirely certain what the battery is actually powering (so I suppose that's question 1) but want to know i I can add a switch to turn it into a passive bass in the event of battery failure? Obviously if the pickups themselves need to be powered then this ain't gonna happen but I'm not sure that's what is being powered? Other possibility would be to add a backup battery and switch for instant changeover? Thanks, Ed
19. Saying that, I switched to IP board, as suggested by the rodent admin, switched back to Basschat theme and it's now working as normal again. Ed
20. Same here on a Dell Laptop, Win Vista 32, IE9. Three presses on the back button gets me back to the page I came from. Ed
