  1. Hi all,

Are there any (sound) issues stacking a cab on an empty flightcase ? I want to bring the cab closer to ear level but have heard there might be issues putting bass cabs on empty (hollow) boxes ?

I don’t have the case but also don’t want to have one made if stacking on top actually detracts from the sound lol

Any advice/experience welcome .. guru Bill probably a knows 😀

  2. I have a Koch ATR 4502 which puts out 90w bridged.

Freq responds 40-20k Hz .. intention was to use for gigging ( 4 string standard tuning & sfx sound Thumpinator preamp) but never got the chance .. use it at home for guitar & bass with respective speakers .. it’s loud & very well made, think with enough efficient speakers it would be fine …

  3. I did the same for a project & it sounded really good, I got a spare nut for my Vigier which can be interchanged as it’s just for holding strings in place (has zero fret). I didn’t want to go back to 5 string, though I did find it cheaper getting (Warwick) 5 string set rather than dedicated 4 string set 130-060 as there aren’t many available.

So like you said just keep playing & get used to it.

I’d do it again if I was in a heavy rock or metal band :)

  4. Great clean preamp with two balanced / unbalanced outputs

one XLR and one trs or ts / ground lift / phase reverse / newer version of Thumpinator with on/off switch / parallel input (which I used for tuner)

9v 200mA centre negative with 9v parallel out.

The D3 does boost the voltage. Internally, it operates to around 35V (rail-to-rail).

3 impedance selector switch & mute switch.

Top sticker came off so re-glued but not a great finish.

    Size 108 x 44 x 168 mm

  5. Withdrawn - KOCH ATR-4502 2x45w / 90w bridged @ 8 Ohm .. great quality amps these made by valve amp specialist Koch in Holland.

    It’s loud !

    Weighs 5.5kg in a 1U rack format.

ATR stands for Authentic Tube Response, each channel has a preamp tube.
Frequency response is from 40Hz to 20k I believe, I know this is a guitar amp but I used it for bass, no problem.

Jack out speaker connectors that also doesn’t need to change for bridged mode.

    2 speed thermo controlled fans.

Koch told me they are discontinuing these.

Only selling as I’m kinda retired from gigging … more pics to follow

  6. Withdrawn - Here’s a decent  34” headless 4 string I made from a J & D 75 jazz as a donor neck & body, got frets levelled before modding. One little dent on neck & plenty of rough parts on body etc but was always meant as a ‘distressed’ type lol

Not a lightweight but definitely no neck dive !

Schaller strap lock buttons. Cut down hex key for truss rod.

ABM (German) bell brass string retainers. They do move a little if you over tighten but I’ve not had any issues with them.

ETS (German) bridge / tail piece.

    Bareknuckle 60 PE jazz pickups.

Hardware & pups would probably cost round 400 lol

  7. I was disappointed with the GED2112 .. too fuzzy for my liking, guess I was expecting a Darkglass X7 esque gritty sound but alas it didn’t deliver for me. Yes two separate outputs for either two poweramps or left / right single poweramp with maybe hi / lo cabs. I think there’s an internal dip switch to run them in parallel though.

Pity I couldn’t get it to work for me coz I already own two great poweramps .. the Ashdown looks interesting …

  8. Cheers Rick .. time to face the music lol .. you never know tho but stuff I wanna play is not what most people want. I’ll stick to a bit of home recording for now. Probably gonna list my fab Warmoth jazz too :( .. too nice just to hang on my wall !

I'd like to put money on them being Bass Direct pics.  :)

Correct .. I had it up fs on commission at Bass Direct a couple of years ago but decided to keep it, alas I think my gigging days are now over
