  1. My only experience with Phil Jones was years ago I contacted him about my 6Pack bass combo had stopped working, Phil responded himself & was great about sorting the issue, we diagnosed a faulty preamp & even though my amp was out of warranty he sent me a brand new one (from the US I think) & talked me through installation which was quite straightforward & he didn’t charge me a penny !

I hope he gets through this & continues with his passion for bass & audio .. we need more people like him !

  2. Thomastik flats (check reviews)

    https://www.thomann.co.uk/thomastik_jf344.htm

but super long scale 36”) they fit my 34” jazz fine though E string does wind around post but no issue ..

but I’m really a roundwound steels player & thought I’d try em as they are more metallic sounding than regular flats & have normal kinda tension .. less than an hours play & strung inline 4 (jazz bass) .. £30 posted

  3. I certainly recommend Bareknuckle jazz pickups .. not sure they’ll give you a ‘fat’ sound but they are in my top 3 jazz pups & I’ve tried a fair few (Dimarzio/Fender/Seymour Duncan/Wizard which I really liked but not sure newer ones are the same) .. other top 2 are Nordstrand Big Singles & current ones that replaced my Bareknuckles which are Areo .. if you can get a good deal on them then do it .. or I might part with my spare set as I’m breaking current bass they are in ..

  4. Sold - Bassics Squeezer bass compressor pedal by the legendary Malcolm Toft

Been on a compressor trial for a while so trying a few different ones out ..

Would trade with cash for a Keeley Bassist or Origin Effects Bass v2 or ..?IMG_4187.thumb.jpeg.5a5c0ca3f1f9630dbb210716d1057e5e.jpeg

So after a lot of thinking over Xmas, I decided I didn't like the pedalboard that I downloaded from elsewhere and wanted to design my own so that's its smaller in height, quicker to print, looks a lot better and has exactly the same surface areas as before. I might even sell them if I get any interest :)

Here's the design, its about 20mm lower than before, prints around twice as quick as before, is just as strong as before. Each piece can take 100Kg of weight, so between them, that's over 600Kg so it'll support the corner of a small car, it uses less filament (50%) than before and has the same surface area as the old design. It still uses the same 20x40mm aluminium extrusion but now it looks a lot neater as the extrusion fits into the sides rather than sits on top of the sides. I also raised the back by 25mm so there is no need for risers under a pedal.  This is now designed properly so I can easily adapt it to make it wider or taller or longer.

The Cioks power supply will still go underneath it and be bolted to the bottom of the extrusions.

I'm printing this up now and will post pictures when it's done.

Looks great Rob :) .. I might have to commission one !

  6. Neck & tuners sold … body ‘on hold’ !

Nice copy of a Geddy Lee jazz bass .. price drop £250

    - 2 piece poplar body by Durham Guitars (70’s pup spacing) new

    - decent Chinese jazz neck (blocks / binding painted) new

    - Schaller tuners

    - Hipshot A brass bridge

    - Bareknuckle 60 PE

    https://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/pickup/ba/j-bass-60-pe

Bass is a little heavy due mainly to hardware. E string had bit of a buzz but tiny bit of rubber wedged between saddle .. sorted. A few minor scratches (by G tuner bushing)

Satin finish but you can still feel the grain. May break for spares if there’s not any interest, bareknuckle pickups are some of the best jazz pups & I’ve tried a fair few over the years !IMG_4045.thumb.jpeg.61622b3daf6aa9bfac53f143c042da4a.jpeg

  7. Cheers Luke, I’ve spent quite a bit of time going through the neuroapp on pc & it’s incredible what this pedal can do ! Even used separate input to run my synth through foldback distortions and mixed back with bass guitar in other input (stereo to mono) both with separate compressor as well ..

But I think I’m just an analogue kid at heart & really just need one basic sound for what I want to do ..
