1. Interesting, l've quickly thumbed thru this thread & l don't think there's one mention of ' your tone ' or as l still like to call it, ' bass sound '. l play an old valve amp with a 2x15 cab, whenever l'm D I'd, to my ear's (admittedly awash with tinnitus) l sound like most other bassist's (sorry) The thought of being DI'd all the time would probably make me knock it on the head, l suppose it maybe depend's on what style of music you play or how far ' up the ladder ' you are with regards to a regular engineer & freedom of the desk . . . not for me tho.
2. ' Welcome to paradise ' by Greenday, should'nt think i'll ever play with those sort of players again tho, need to have the right personnel to do Greenday any justice . . I M O
3. Many thanks to the guy's that P. M.'d but l'd agreed that 'binky' could have first refusal if l ever sold it on, glad you got it back mate.
4. I bought this off 'Binky Bass' almost a year ago (just had a quick look, Mar 9 he posted l think) I've used it for rehearsal & as a back up at gigs. Its in pretty much the same condition as when l bought it, a few small marks but nothing major, plays well, nice action, still as it was when l got it, black body (single pick up) with a maple fretboard, I've just bought another stingray off here so don't need this now, be a shame for it not to be used. I've 'priced it to sell' (at least l think i have) it comes with an lbanez gig bag. l can email pics to anyone who's interested, but at the mo l can't post any, I'm located in Nth Lincs, l get about a bit with work so may be possible to help out with any delivery . . Thanks for looking . .
5. Amazed it took so long for Dave Grohl to get a mention ! ? . . anyway, whilst i'm here, Dave Grohl, Tre Cool, & Bobby Elliott, never gets a mention round here, he was around at the same time as Keith Moon (who got all the attention) in my opinion he could've knocked Moon into a cocked hat . . IMO
6. . . Most of The Rezilos, especially 'Top of the pops' . .
7. Echo and the bunnymen The Stranglers The Jam . . . nuff said for me, l play covers and function stuff now but their influence sticks with me
8. Well....better late than never!
9. Sorry . . also should've added, I'm based in Nth Linc's,
10. At the mo I can't post any pic's, maybe later in the week with any luck, but I guess if you're in the market for a bass cab you'll know what one looks like . . . or just google it . . Anyway it's 6yrs old, works fine, there's no rips to the fabric or damage to the mesh, it's got the Bugera speaker's & the switchable horn feature (tho I don't have the footswitch for this) fitted castor's, & you can use either speakon or jacklead's, it's rated 1200watt at 4ohms. It's been gigged regular & never been a problem. Cheer's, Bruce.
11. The bassist on the record is called Guybo Smith, i don't know if that's him in the film clip,he played bass guitar on most of Eddie's stuff, that style of playing is almost what you would call 'punk or new wave; year's ahead of it's time, it gave the song's at that time a differant type of energy and power, he was part of Eddie's tuoring band too, The Kelly Four.
12. Les Patterson from the Bunnymen, he does'nt get mentioned much on here. One song in particular, Crocodile's from the 'Shine so hard E.P.' relentless Bassline.
13. Spent all day at castlehill plasic surgery unit (nr Hull)on the slab having a plate & 7 pins removed from my right index finger, had an argument with a 5inch angle grinder back in january, bit pis#ed as they've not done all they'd said they were gonna do' but . . i'm still doing a dep job sat'day night complete with plecky gaffertaped to thumb, gripping it with the 'next finger along' Done it once before after initial accident, only pub stuff to be fair, may have to swerve 'my generation' tho. Not a good day.
14.
Point of interest, whats that other Musicman in the case picture, - for sale also?
It's a 79 blond ray, had it 32 yrs, probably end up being a 'will' job . . . thanks for the interest anyway, P.M.d you b.t.w. cheer's
15.
pm sent.
P.M.'d you
16. I Thought i'd P.M.'d LukeFRC, but if not my apologies go out to him, anyway, i'm in Nth Linc's, the damage behind the tape is the same as shown on the other pic's, the coating as been chipped off, down to the wood, noting any the more sinister. (i did say it's fairly well battered !) I'm an aggresive plectrum player so the tape is there to stop it irritating my inner forearm. Cheer's
17. Guessing by the silence over the past few day's that'll be bump's x 3 . .
18. BASS NOW SOLD A fairly well battered example, but plays & sounds as it should do... Quite a few chips & dents to the body both front & back. There is one small chip/dent on the back of the neck but you don't feel it when you are playing, the neck itself is 'spot on' and the frets are in good condition. As far as I know it is all orignal apart from the nut which I had replaced 2 yrs ago. I have taken off the dampers but I have still got them & they will be included. It weighs approx 9lbs. Can supply more pics if needed. The price is £1250.00 for the guitar, the original case is available if needed for an extra £40.00 The buyer is responsible for collection & any costs it may inccur.
