1. No problems buying from G4M. Quick delivery and fair prices.
 2. I enjoyed that. A bit of something different (for me anyway).
 3. If you come down again Gareth, PM me. Live music is just about the only thing I bother to go out for (apart from work that is). It would be good to meet other BC'rs as well. Regards, Mark.
 4. If it wasn't so close to the annual bank account draining season known as Christmas, I would have had this like a shot. On top of that, I bet you live less than 2 miles from me (Doh!) Please have a bump from a fellow Huckwellian. Mark.
 5.
Couldn't work out how to do it, so I've pasted a copy onto a page of my website! http://www.ajrguitar...uk/#Rear%20View
Love that colour!
Couldn't work out how to do it, so I've pasted a copy onto a page of my website! Andy, it's more reply options bottom right, then browse and attach files, then add to post. That looks real nice, although the grain on the strat is a bit more uniform than the kit Mark has. Andy Edit. Just had another look at the kit and I'm not 100% sure it's not a 4 piece body.
Spot on Andy...4 piece it is. Certainly gives the grain an 'abstract' dimension. All the best, Mark.
 6. That is a seriously good looking bass. ATB Mark.
 7.
I've seen these kits on eBay and to be honest while I've not had the inclination to try one, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Good luck with it. P
Thanks. I will post the finished bass and hopefully any snags/mistakes as I go along. After I finish it, I am hoping to get a more experienced player to have a go on it (a Bass Chatter perhaps?) to give it a bit of a 'review'. Novice assembler + home assembly kit = ? All the best, Mark.
 8.
Where's the kit from?
The kit is from DIY Guitar Shop. They only do this model of bass. The other kits they have are Strats, Teles, LP's etc. Ordered it on Tuesday and it arrived at my local post office on Thursday ( couldn't get to pick it up until yesterday ).
If it's your first project, then wait and see what other advice you get on here before deciding. IMHO Andy
Good advice Andy. I am in no rush to have this bass featured in the 'Ugliest Bass' thread.
Pictures here: http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1336777
If I get it looking as nice as that I will be more than happy! Thanks to everyone for replying. Darned good forum is this. All the best, Chairleg.
 9. http://i751.photobuc.../Bass/jb2-1.jpg I am an absolute novice at this but I really want to make the best job of it that I can. After seeing the high standards of other forum members efforts in building/assembling and finishing their projects, I thought it might be prudent to gain as much advice as possible before I merrily screw up my own. After trawling the internet for some enlightenment I have learned the following: Ash is very porous so I need to grain fill the body after sanding and then sand/grain fill/sand untill it's flat and smooth enough to move on to the next step. I don't really want to paint it. My first question (possibly of many) is: Has anyone used Tru Oil ( I understand it's very popular on gun stocks) as a finish on a guitar? I want to get a satin finish if possible or is there a more tried and trusted method/product? Thanks for looking. All the best Chairleg.
 10. Lindo launch 'Les Claypool Signature' Bass.
 11. Thanks for the greetings. I am still finding my way around BC at the moment. Apart from finding loads of useful information, I have also had some proper laugh out loud moments. The very minor downside of the forum is viewing images of basses and rigs owned by other members; my GASometer now has a bent needle. ATB Mark.
 12. My first post other than introducing myself so sorry if I mess it up or it's been done before: Awolnation - 'Sail' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyyAZOEwP8Q
 13. ....saying hello. I bought my first bass at the age of 15. It was a Status (not the same as now) Jazz, aquired from the Carlsboro' shop on Chesterfield Road in Mansfield Notts. I also purchased a Laney 100W head and a rather large cab (Leech reflex with something resembling a lidless wok as a speaker..... or am I not remembering correctly?). Living in a council semi, this made me extremely popular with the neighbours who still refuse to speak to me 37 years later. I am now rapidly approaching the age of 52 and, six months ago decided that now the offspring have grown up, it was time to do something constructive. Time to do something new. Try something I had never done before. Live life on the edge. I bought another bass (as Harley Davidsons' are prohibitively expensive). Age has instilled a certain ammount of caution. I had enough money saved to consider a bass with a headstock emblazend with the name 'Rickenbacker', 'Status' (the same as now), 'Fender', 'Wal' or even Squier (??). But, what if the cat gets sick? What if the washing machine breaks down? What if the wife gets us invited to yet another sodding wedding? I bought an Ibanez GSR200 and an Ashdown After eight 15W practice combo. Not exactly a gigging set up. But then again....I ain't gigging. I am enjoying playing along with my favourite bassists....Donald Dunn, Bruce Foxton, Nate Mendel and Les Claypool (who I don't actually play along with because my fingers no longer work that way). I hope I can contribute to the forum in the future. I have already gained a huge ammount of knowledge from the members. Thanks, Mark (from just north of Nottingham).
