I've just done a quick phone video of the bass being used if anyone wants to hear it to check out how it sounds. Done in a high quality recording studio through a Neve console and at exactly 3.17am in the morning because everyone knows the air sounds better at that time. Oh and I got Jaco to play it.....or maybe not......Drop me a message and I'll send it over....

At least an hour I'm afraid and the A12 is borked with roadworks on top of that!

I play through one of these at a loose jam I go to regularly, it's like the house amp, and I just can't get a decent sound out of the thing. It's just always muddy and scoopy and disappears in the mix. Is there some kind of knack to it I'm missing? I always try pushing the mids, but they don't sound pleasing at all.
If it's an ABM600 push the shape button in (to turn it off weirdly!), turn the compressor off, don't use the sub octave thingy. Then eq it with your ears and not your eyes. You can seriously whack up some of the frequencies to get the sound going. They're amazingly flexible amps in my opinion - one of the few I would have back in a heartbeat.
If it's an ABM500 throw it in the bin......

These do look great. I wonder how it would work strung E-C for more chordal playing.
It's got a pretty flat fretboard so would probably work well

SOLD
Purchased recently to alleviate my back issues as it's super light at 3.5kg but I've realised I'm a 4 string kind of guy and could do with the cash to put into something else (but at some point I'm definitely going to grab the 4 string version!)
I've added great quality fretboard stickers and side dots and the previous owner added a second strap button to improve the playing position (the paint chipped a little when he did this so it's covered with some black tape so doesn't look bad)
Probably one of the best necks I've ever played - lovely dark roasted birdseye maple fingerboard, a great flat profile and solid as a rock. Truss rod functions perfectly.
Active/passive modes and a sweepable mid along with bass and treble controls.
Takes regular strings and I've just restrung it with 125 -40 Dunlop Superbright Steels.
Comes with the Ibanez gig bag.
Priced at what I bought it for plus what I've put in to it.
Collect from near Stansted Airport (I'm 4 minutes from J7a of the M11) or can meet/deliver by arrangement depending on your location. Sorry, but I don't like posting stuff.

How about a Source Audio Atlas instead and have a squillion different compressors in one box?

A great song from back in the 80's that I thought nobody else had heard. But why have you only done the main riff bit?

Mesa BB750 for sale
One of the best rock amps ever made and increasingly hard to find. I have 2 and would like to release some cash for something else. I rotate it with the other one at each gig so it's used regularly.
If you need some slam in your sound this will do the trick! Sounds incredible with the valve driven front end and a valve also driving the FET power amp.
750 watts at 2 ohms
500 watts at 4 ohms
Perfect working order and includes the footswitch to engage the overdrive channel.
Housed in a 3u rack case.
No shipping option so collection or a meet up somewhere is preferred. I have biscuits and a cab in the house.

I think it looks like a bit like the Bass Direct shop site in Warwick, UK. It's not their normal site but looks very similar so maybe a scammer has cloned the site? Maybe give them a call via their normal contact details?

I've had 5 mins with it so far as work is nuts, but it sounds good to me; I don't get the Bart Mk1 hate...
Nope, they sound fine to me too

I've got the 4 string version. Probably one of the best basses I've ever had and it's an undiscovered gem generally. (It's seen off Spectors, Warwicks and Stingrays in the last few years)

Thanks Dad, I thought as much. Need to find one that uses a cable that goes into the transmitter on the strap as I can`t stand those ones that go into the input with that big dongle like thing.
Off to Thomann!!
You could just get a female/male short cable and plug the transmitter into that

Similar to me.....been playing for donkeys years on 4 strings and currently doing about 40+ gigs a year in a covers band. I use a detuner on a few songs and thought a 5er might work a bit better a few years back. Traded for one on here, tried to get my head around it for about a month, did a gig with it. Lasted about 6 songs and i had to switch back. Sold it....
Fast forward to a couple of months ago and I inadvertently tried a 5er in a music store. It was actually a £1500 fan fret headless 5er. Loved it and actually found it a lot easier to play than my previous attempt a few years back. I don't really know why but i can only think that it was SO different to my previous one that my brain was treating it as a different instrument rather than trying to adjust to something sort of familiar.
So I now have a lower spec used version of the same bass bought from Basschat for a third of the cost of a new one residing in the rack. It's a no pressure situation and I'm treating it as a project over the next few months and having a noodle when i feel like it. I'm not rushing into any gigs with it. If i get on with it confidently I'll introduce it into the band or i can just have some fun at home. Or flip it of course.

Is it a bar in/near Brentwood, Essex by any chance?
I really wouldn't bother - you're building your confidence by the sounds of things and this won't help at all if no one shows up.
I don't think you can even treat it as a paid rehearsal either. Mainly on the basis that if 5 people do actually come through the door and drink £100 of beer they're going to be expecting to see some sort of band performance and not a practice. You'll be expected to treat it as a proper gig by the management or you definitely won't be getting paid at all.
Plainly and simply, if any of you don't think it's worthwhile for any reason just don't do it. It can be because it doesn't pay enough for you, has a dodgy crowd/management, sound limiters, bad load in/out or anything like that. It's supposed to be fun unless it's your primary source of income.

I got mine on Tuesday. Cost £12.95, sold by Amazon. Already used the code printed on the bag for the D'Addario Player's Circle account and it was accepted. Totally legit.
The ones I'm talking about aren't sold by Amazon. They're on the Amazon site but from a 3rd party and not from the Amazon warehouse. Mrs Pup got conned last year buying some perfume from what looked like a legit seller and it turned out to be fake.
-
The £16 heavy gauge NYXL strings on Amazon all seem to be sold from stores full of hair straighteners and various other popular counterfeit items. Check the storefronts before you spend money....I'm suspicious and sure they're going to be fakes

I had the bass combo version of this back in the 80's (think it was a GA140 or something like that). It was great as you said - really clear and punchy

Knowing which word the sweary filter on basschat replaces with 'womble', I'd be a bit worried about that...
Oddly enough I actually meant the small furry rubbish collecting critters. It's a ritual there.
