http://www.crownaudio.com/amp_htm/xti.htm#specs

    it will do 2 x 1600w at 2ohm , or 3200w bridged at 4ohm

    interesting?
Nice idea, but I'm not keen on separates, 'cos then it start to get big and heavy, then there's the whole thorny question of which preamp... why is life so complicated?!? Thanks Andy, but not for me.

All I was told when I bought it was that it was fashioned and/or assembled by the aforementioned Gus... I've never had occasion to try and trace him, but I can certainly make some inquiries...
I know someone who knows someone who knew him...

Aaahh... takes me back. I remember seeing Henry 'Magic Thumb' Thomas playing one of these on Rockschool back in the day... *sigh*

  5.
Wow - only just spotted this, how come Fender are suddenly putting a lot of the custom builders to shame with all these 'exotic' necks!
It's a real beaut - especially when you look at some of the NOS custom shop basses and how 'ordinary' they look in comparison. All good stuff, but this one is undoubtedly a little extra special.

  6. For sale, a bit of an oddity... a custom made 5-string in the style of a '51 Precision. 35" scale, twin Bartolini soapbars, and a Aguilar 18v 2-band preamp. Being a fan of the early P/Tele bass look, a thing of rare beauty, IMHO. When I play it, it makes me feel like I'm Tony Reeves. All I know about its origins is it was made by a chap called Gus who lives somewhere down in Kent, has made many basses over the years in his workshop as something of a hobby I understand, and did a damn fine job with this. I bought it several years ago, and it originally sported one single coil pickup, but when that expired unexpectedly, I got Martin Petersen of Sei fame to fit the two Barts and preamp.

It weighs in at a shade over 10lbs, but balances well and consequently feels light on the shoulder. Excellent condition throughout, except for a chip in the finish on the back of the headstock, shown in the photos. Final price drop to an insane £500 (was £650) (was £750), and I'll throw in a heavy duty Ritter gig bag with it.

Only on here 'til the weekend, then it's off to eBay... :)

Video now uploaded of me noodling aimlessly, but you can hear what it sounds like! Recorded straight into an Apogee Duet, flat eq. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvRLYih5G7Y

NOW WITHDRAWN FROM SALE - SOLD ELSEWHERE

  7. For sale is a beautiful bass that I imported new from the States myself 3 weeks ago, and despite it being a truly glorious instrument, it's not for me... sadly I think I may have spent too many years playing snarling 5-string graphite things with preamps...

Custom Shop 1960 (stack pot) light relic Jazz in Olympic white, matching headstock, gold hardware, mint green pickguard, rosewood board, the most beautiful birdseye/flame maple neck, brown tolex case and all the case candy - strap, lead, manual, certificate etc., as brand spanking new as a relic'ed bass can be! Light, at only a little over 9 lbs. Never gigged, been out of the house once to a rehearsal, fear took hold and I put it back in the case.

    £1800 (was £1995) (was £2250)

    SOLD SOLD SOLD....

  8.
How has Jools Holland managed to get away with it for so long? He always looks so ill at ease. The guy manages to make each appearance on telly look like his first. He is incoherent and got the interviewing skills of Katie Price. As a consequence I don't watch as much as, perhaps, I should.
    Like the format though.
He was exactly the same back in the days of The Tube, although the smarm quotient has increased somewhat. What the programme needs is a co-host like Paula Yates who didn't give a f*ck, even when they came back to air unexpectedly after an ad break and the mic picked her up talking about some guy with a 12" d*ck... anyone remember that?? Quality viewing! :)
