  1. Always like the look of those basses and it's a stunner in that colour combination!

Ibanez don't seem to have a decent following, but this really is a Stingray on a budget.[/quote]

I think they really do have a more than decent following and a reputation for well made basses that really
punch above their weight in terms of value.

Stingray comparisons aside, I know these are always compared to them but I think they've got such a
great look and sound. That you can pickup a bass like that for less than £300 is crazy!

  2. Ahhh man, I saw the thread title, obviously it's been coming but f*^! what a punch in the gut that is

Maybe the loudest band I ever saw and he absolutely owned that stage. Noone who saw him
will ever forget Lemmy, a proper legend :(

    RIP

I got an encore p bass in a job lot of stuff I bought a while ago and was surprised by it. it was very playable and had a decent tone For a cheap bass. I sold it on for £50 cos i didn't need it but it was a perfectly good for a stater and I was tempted to keep it as a back up.

I dug mine out recently, E83 precision copy and my first bass. Despite having sat in a cupboard for 15 odd years it required surprisingly little effort to get it playing well. Have to say other than its obscene weight it feels and sounds really good. I'm so glad I dug it out, used it at a couple of rehearsals for the fun of it and it really is a decent bit of kit.

  4. Glad your situation is looking up, having a recording to backup your points helps so much in these situations. Hopefully he'll realise
that what you're trying to do will make him sound better as well as the band.

It seems a lot of people just listen to their own contribution not the band as a whole or their fellow band members. I'd stressed to my lot
that our singer is flat and there are a couple of songs where he pushes his voice and it just sounds awful. Someone invited a mate
along to record a rehearsal a few weeks back and they sacked the singer the next day. I wanted to work with him to improve like
you are with your guitarist

  5. Same, I'd polish off my Christmas dinner and happily head to rehearsal!

Happy Christmas BC'ers, I've learned so much ab out gear and playing on this site, so much gear I'd never heard
of that I've had the chance to try. A lot of great people who generously share their time and experience thank you
and have a great Christmas! :D

  6. Guys leave it out, I've been in touch with Duff and he said it was his bass, as can be seen this excerpt from our
    conversation.

"Bass was mine and I forgot to tell you but you are wicked sexy!"
"See you later, luv from Duffles!"
    Buy with confidence!

  7. Of course, I've heard great players make poor instruments sing, bad players sound like bad players regardless of their instrument's quality.

I love GAS though, I don't have unrealistic expectations about high end instruments improving me I just love getting to try all the gear I can.
I know it won't make me play like Bobby Vega but waiting for a new bass to turn up makes me feel like a kid at Christmas and I'm
happy to spend a few quid (or more) for that :)

  8. Neck looks legit, as do the upgraded Pups. Can't see enough of the body to comment but the lack of cutaway
for truss rod access would have me questioning the origin of the body.

The buzzy E string issue should be solved with a good setup or nut adjustment.

You drop a torpedo like "aimless noodling" on Jaco and didn't expect it to tick some of us off?

To be fair, you're the only one who seems to have taken it personally.

Maybe he was trolling, maybe he didn't understand the high regard in which JP is held and
wanted to educate himself. Either way telling him to give up bass is a bit much.
