  1. Not on the way to the gig but still :)

First time I met my new bandmates at a pub miles from my home we discussed me joining and a potential date to rehearse together. I then retired to let them talk about me...only to find I'd locked my keys in my car.

Had to come back in and interrupt the conversation. Fortunately my son arrived before closing time with another set, but only after they'd all tried and failed to break into my scruffy old Cavalier.

  2. Nice one Mike - bassists stick together! :)

Whe I saw Cream at the Albert Hall I wondered why people were snapping me on their phone. Sitting behind me were Macca and H Mills, Ringo and his missus and...Tom Hanks! Didn't know whether to look at the stage or them.

They whizzed off during the encore too!

  3. Courtesy of Beedster and an exploration of the suburbs of Walsall (wife unamused!) I am now the proud owner of a Thunderbird of the Epiphone variety. It survived a journey home on the back seat (strapped in, I hasten to add!) but this is clearly not a long term option. It has already acquired a headsccok scrape before I got it due to poking out of previous owner's gig bag. :)

What's the best/most cost effective gigbag or case, Thunderbird users?

    Ta.

  4. +1

Good idea - and I appreciate your tip, Chris, even if the wife didn't! Many thanks.

Thanks to someone else's tip I picked up a Sub a few months ago which I sold on to Mark of this parish at the same price I paid, so if nothing else it's broadening my horizons at little cost to me.

  5. Cheers Rayman. Being a Bass(World)Chatter has given me the chance to play on more basses than I ever thought posisble - in last 2 yrs a Precision 51, Warwick, MM Sub and now this. Even if I don't keep it, it will be a bit of fun.

I aim to keep my 73 Precision forever. It was born the year I left school, so we have something in common.

What did you like about the Thunderbird and why did you let it go?

  6. The cover of my Trace 1215 combo got incinerated when someone left it on one of our light arrays. :)

(Mind you, it was funny seeing them in the toilets try to scrape the black plastic off the bulbs!)

Where can I get a recommended replacement? And yes, the band fund is paying!

If you're talking about Amy $hitehouse, I hope you thriow the key away!

The case is enough to put me off! :)

Erm ... does that mean you take them off every so often and give them a wipe along with the fret board, or give them a dust while still tuned or that you've never cleaned them or the fret board ever?[/quote]

I give em a post-gig wipe occasionally but never take them off.

    :)
