On the assumption you aren't joking, he's their representative, taking his username from the parent co.pany that makes Sansamp.

I thought that was you, thanks for clearing up the confusion

We already went around this mulberry bush. It can't be dialed in flat if you are using the driver in Bass Driver DI. You do know what throwing out the baby with the bathwater means?

What does Tech21NYC know about the SansAmp anyway

That sounds odd. When trying the pedal with a battery was it disconnected from DC and phantom power? If it's new and won't work off a battery you should exchange it for a different one. All our pedals are tested before they leave the factory and the battery test is one of the tests that gets performed.

When running off phantom power did you try a different channel and or XLR cable?

I tried the battery with XLR phantom power disengaged and power supply removed, also tried a couple of different XLR cables and 1/4 cables to rule that out.

I've tried again just now with phantom power, power supply and battery and everything is working just fine using multiple outputs, no idea what the problem was yesterday but I'll send it back for replacement if it happens again.

I'm really happy with it apart from that hiccup, it's miles better than the Ampeg I was using

  4. Well my two day old V2 keeps losing power when I connect the parallel out or 1/4 out to my amp or interface, LED starts to dim and sound slowly cuts out as soon as either of these are plugged in. Seems to work fine when just using the XLR output by itself.

That's when using phantom power from my interface or a seperate power supply, it won't work at all with a battery.

So for your enjoyment you go into a pub to play songs you don't like for people, or is this a job? Because if that was my only option then I would just get together with some mates and play songs I wanted and do free gigs without charging.

What I find increadable is that according to this thread, where several posters live apparently even though we have had 70 years of Pop music charts, which must be many thousands of songs, there aren't 30 songs people can find to play that people would enjoy without playing oasis.

Strangely, my band, and the band before it, and the band we are putting together at the moment (the last two not by my choice) manage to fit into this most rare 'don't play any oasis numbers' niche. And somehow we get invited back month after month.

I am so glad I don't live in your areas where bands are only allowed in if they are playing certain songs.  Luckily in my area, the cover bands can all do different popular songs, so have some kind of individuality. I am sure some of them do oasis (well, they must, there is an oasis tribute band around here) although I can only think of one that I have seen that did. I guess this is a very niche area.

I've only ever played an Oasis song once by request at a wedding (Morning Glory) because they picked the setlist, and I really can't recall ever hearing any other bands covering them despite their popularity.

Most members of the cover bands I've played in are fans of theirs too but their songs never get past the long list for whatever reason, I think they're more suited to solo acoustic gigs and personally think there's much better choices for a band to play.

Literally that makes me happier than you could imagine to miss out. The one thing that would make me want to stop gigging is a group of drunk blokes screaming wonderwall at the top of their voice. We do sex on fire as it is, and I never understood peoples love for that, but no to oasis.

But why though, what is it about that scenario in particular?

What are you plugging it into? For example I get a lot of noise with some preamps if I’m plugged into my PJB Bighead running on battery power, but that goes away if I plug in the USB cable to charge it. I suppose doing so grounds it. You could therefore possibly get the same issue trying to record from a laptop or iPad that isn’t plugged into the wall.

If the noise changes a lot when touching the strings or putting your hand near the pickup, that would also indicate a grounding issue.

I'm plugging the bass into the pedal (battery power) which goes into a DI box which goes into my interface, which goes into my PC via some noise reduction gizmo, I haven't tried it with a power supply yet so that's my next step.

I think ped is right in saying it's probably just a noisy pedal because every other one I've tried is fine on battery power.
Hopefully a power supply sorts it but if not I'll have to buy myself a Sansamp or something, what a shame 😁

    Sounds faulty

I have the SCR-DI which is very quiet and has unity output around 12 0 clock on the volume dial

I run mine using a Truetone 1 spot

Have you checked that the jumper inside isn’t set on -15db for active basses ?

Yeah I've already checked that and it's set for passive, looks like it's knackered then!

I made a short video comparing the noise levels of the Ampeg, a Boss EQ and a Big Muff.

All pedals had fresh batteries before I started recording and use the same cables and interface settings. The Ampeg gets really noisy as soon as you engage it or add mids /treble, while the other two stay relatively noiseless however you set the controls.

I'm leaning towards a dodgy unit, what do you reckon?
