1. Welcome and greetings from Reading in Berkshire. Those stingrays sound good, you'll have to stick some pictures in the bass porn section. cheers Al
2. I'm very interested in this thread also. Has anyone tried/owned one of these; http://www.andertons.co.uk/acatalog/info%5fN15S%2ehtml cheers guys Al.
3.
Herby Elf says, "Welcome Friend! Wont you try my pastry treats?"
It's good to see Louis Walsh has got a new day job !! Anyway welcome Emmanuel !
4. Mmmmmm looks very "Burns"-esque to me. I rather suspect it is more obscure than that. probably as already been suggested eastern bloc origins. cheers Al.
5. Merry Xmas Bob and all on Basschat !!!!! cheers Al.
6.
Easy answer. It has to be this one. It's a Stray 5.
+1 (power of 10). That is simply beautiful and i want one.
7. Hi all i was thinking of buying one of those new Fender Jazz 24 fret basses. It's the one with no pickguard and some kind of mid scoop circuitry. Obviously i will try it out for myself but if anyone has one or has tried one i'd be very interested to know what you think. It's easy to like a bass in the shop but with a full band, your own amp and at a gig it's often a different kettle of fish. cheers Al.
8. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! look forward to meeting some of you local boys. cheers Al.
9. Cheers Neil for that. what i have been playing isn't a million miles away but it's good to know the original line. Al.
10. Hi all, just wondered if anyone could tell me where i can get an accurate transcription of the solo fills in this song. I have been playing an approximation but i'd like to know what it should be originally. Any help appreciated. cheers Al.
11. Only place i found them is here. http://www.thomann.de/gb/ampeg_ba300_115.htm Haven,t seen or heard them though. I too have tired of waiting for them in the uk. cheers Al
12. Thanks guys i guess what i was getting at was that lighter doesnt mean inferior and less robust. It's a long time since i bought some new cabs and it's good to do your homework before you do. Not all inventions live up to their name so it's nice to hear what others think. i guess i'm naturally cynical. cheers Al.
13. MIne does have a wenge neck, but i'll still hang on to it. thanks for the heads up though. cheers Al.
14. Hi , this is probably a dumb question but i am assuming that the reason that all these cabs are so light is because they are made from some sort of of moulded subtance (plastic) and not heavy marine ply as in days of old. I assume that the components i.e speakers/magnets/coils are still top quality and the sound reflects this. cheers Al

Must haves

Thanks guys i think i'll go down the multi fx route to start with. It seems like a sensible way to go. cheers Al.

Ampeg BA115HP

Further to the above post so far i've seen then for lowest £424 and highest £763 ?? thats a huge difference for the same model. I have no idea why that is. I also see a 300 watt lightweight version is due out very soon so maybe i'll wait and try that out. cheers Al.

Must haves

Maybe i should elaborate then. i play mostly Rock/pop covers with the odd delve into funk/slap. I have looked at envelope filters and bass synth pedals to get some tonal variety, also quite fancy wah wah. I don't really know what overdrive does for a bass to be honest. I would like a nice polished tone at times would i need reverb and compression for this. Sorry to be the token idiot here but i don't want to waste money. cheers Al.

Must haves

Hi all, i've never been one for effects and pedals etc, but that said i'd like to put together a board. Quite simply i don't want to end up with a load of novelties and pets so i was wondering what is regarded as "must haves" for Bass. any opinions appreciated. cheers Al.
19. Hi all, i am considering buying an Ampeg BA115HP as i only really play modest sized venues. Basically is it any good and can i get enough top end with the horn without putting a 2x10 cab on it. Also i have noticed a great disparity in the price from uk retailers ??? any info greatly appreciated. thanks AL.
20. Thanks for the info guys. Like i said i was toying with the idea but i don't think i'll part with it for that kind of money. Looks like i'll have to buy another Bass as well
21. Just joined myself. welcome also. cheers AL.
22. Hi all, i have been toying with the idea of selling my Warwick streamer LX 4 string. Problem is i don't really know what to realistically expect it to fetch?? I bought it in 1999/2000 it is flamed maple, bolt on neck with gold hardware. It's a genuine German build , even the tuning heads say WEST Germany on them. I paid £1200 new could anyone inform me how much it's likely to be worth now. many thanks. Al.
23. Hi just joined also. look forward to seeing your posts. cheers Al.

25. Hello all, just registered and it seems the polite thing to say hello before posting. My name is Al and i'm from Reading. I'm just in the middle of putting together a new band playing covers as i am officially an old fart at 39 years old. I've only got one Bass at the Moment a Warwick streamer LX 4 string and i'm just downsizing my Trace elliot bass rig for something more transportable and easier on the back. Look forward to chatting with you all. cheers AL.
