1. High all, I have a Squier Pbass and have noticed that when the strings touch the magnets on the pups, there is a loud click. Been told this is the Fender Clack. Would swapping out the OE pups for Seymour Duncan SP1's get rid of the click? Cheers all.
 2. I still have the original battery in my Ibanez SR600 and it's now a year old and still going strong after roughly 45 mins play every few days. So can't complain at all.
 3.
There's these people who seem to do the right colour and a smaller size of flake. http://www.specialis...p?p=flakes-canz
Thanks for that link, they appear to have the paint I need for my Steve Harris replica tribute thingy. Ta very much. John.
 4. First bass: Benson 32" Scale Pbass copy Go to bass: Ibanez SR600-NTF Your bass: Ibanez SR600-NTF
 5. Can someone explain "microphonic pickup" please. John.
 6. Hi all, As the title says, I think its about time I gave my SR600 a good clean. Had it almost a year and the wood is starting to look a bit shiny. The body is plain unvarnished maple and I have no idea what to use to de-grease it, eeewwww lol Have heard that you can soak the strings in meths to clean them. Any ideas anyone. Cheers, John.
 7.
hi, yeh playing lefty has it drawbacks, lack of choice mainly especially in uk, and dealers reluctant to help or do their job researching whats available, hence me schecter being brought in from the usa , even with duty etc it was still a 1/3 of what uk dealer wanted and only took 7 days not 6 months to get(uk delivery forecast). had a go right handed on my sons mates bass, that just felt too weird, and way tooo late in life to train the old grey matter that way i thought ray
I know what you mean about dealers. When I was hunting for my Ibanez, no local dealers were that interested to really help. Most just wanted to push me towards paying more and getting a Fender or suchlike. In the end I managed to audition an Ibanez SR300, loved it and reasoned that if the 300 felt and sounded that good then the 600 must be even better. So went out on a limb and bought one of the last SR600's in the country at the time. Made the right choice. By the way, you're not much older than me, so us "older" dogs can learn new tricks
 8. Welcome, only been here a few weeks myself. I'm a lefty too but play right handed. I never considered a lefty bass. Just learnt same way as everyone else. Had a quick go with my SR600 turned upside down today. Just felt weird. My missus cringes every time I look on fleabay at basses. Even more so when I look at Hillman Hunter's, but that's another story John.
 9.
I was at the Manchester gig also - a great show from the fellas, as always. I don't think I've ever left a Maiden gig feeling short-changed. Sadly, I also couldn't make Airbourne out for the most part as the sound was terrible. All I could hear was the bass drum, a guitarry mush and screaming from the singer. A pity, as some of it reminded me of AC/DC.
I remember seeing Maiden at the GMEX on Bruce's fairwell tour. Sound was bad, atmosphere was bad, Bruce wasn't interested. Took a few years to get over that one Can't watch Maiden anymore, the last time I saw them proper, was the last time I saw my best mate alive. A few weeks later he drank himself to death. To much pain to go see them anymore. John.
 10.
PM me, mate. I might be able to sort you out ... :-)
It sucks that you are having to part with such a cool looking bass. Goog luck with your sale, hope you get sorted out very soon. John.

I played JetPac on my VIC20 for hours and hours, ahh nostalgia, love it! John.
 12.
Welcome aboard Lots of info etc on here. Join in and enjoy!
Yeah, I had noticed that This seems quite a well organised forum. Spent about an hour last night trolling through the posts. There's some pretty deep stuff in here. Thanks, John.
 13. Hi to all of you, this is my first post on here. I am a refugee from the now defunct bassmasta.com and had no idea there was a British bass forum. Wish I'd known sooner. Been playing for almost three years, learning very slowly. I play an Ibanez SR600 and a Squier P-Bass, Peavey TKO115 amp and a Zoom 708-BFX pedal. Main influences are Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, Roger Waters etc. I like most kinds of rock and metal, can't stand the x-factor type stuff and not toon keen on the trend of "roaring" in the newer metal bands, with the notable exception of Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy. Hope to get to know you all in time and be of any help I can to other bassists. All the best, John.
