1. bump will swap for a black p-based guitar etc, show me what youve got
2. aaaaah i see, so the finish is pretty much plastic like? and once it's soft it'll lift off (like you said) and after that, sand anything thats left? like de-icing a really icy car
3. DSC_0113 by Chris Watts Photography, on Flickr DSC_0117 by Chris Watts Photography, on Flickr DSC_0111 by Chris Watts Photography, on Flickr
4. was yours finished similar to how mine would be? i've got a dewalt heat gun, and short of a flame thrower it's the hottest thing around heat / sand / heat / sand / heat / sand?
5. lovely looking project, how long did it take you roughly? glad you sent me this way, given me an idea of how much work is involved
6. I've tried searching, but nothing much helpful comes up i'd like to paint / spray my bass (blue one on the left) 2's company by Chris Watts Photography, on Flickr now ideally, however tacky it is, i'd like to spray it matt / satin black, or matt white, but i've got a couple of questions 1. would it be easiest to take the guitar apart? i've not done anything like that before, how hard is it? 2. Sand the body back to wood or sand, prime and re-paint? 3. I'd also like some neon strings, but do they affect the sound? in all honesty the bass cost me £80, so it's no biggy, just gone off the blue, i know black would be easier as it wont show anything underneath Cheers Chris
7. ive not noticed it, it's completely standard, but i've never had neck dive issues, but my style might be completely wrong
8. so my dad gave me the money today as an early birthday present, so here she is, bargain at £350 old next to new
9. luckily, i put a deposit down on the amp, the abm500 combo was only £350 as it's second hand, and it comes with a cover, so i just need to sort out some funds basically the ashdown just sounded right the first time i played the top string, the low end grunt was incredible
10. well i went to andertons today, and a mixed bag of a day really, i didnt like the ampeg pf500 and 1x15 cab, i tried the ashdown abm500 1x15 combo and it's sooo much louder (well to me anyway), another band member came with me, and he was instantly impressed to by the difference, it would add sooo much depth and low end to the music we play at the moment BUT then my application for finance was declined? so a bit gutted, but i know what to go for
11. I think youre right about the misleading power question Ive been looking at the ashdown abm series combos, theyre advertised as 575w, but the technical info says impedance is 8ohms, so until you buy and extension cab, youre only getting 285w, which isnt bad, but annoying if youre thinking you can rock out with 575w straight away A ploy to make more money for sure
12. That ampeg head and cab are rated as follows: Amp: 500w @ 4ohms Cab: 450 @ 8ohms So those would be ok, but to get the full 500w id need 2 cabs at 8ohms each giving 4ohms in total impedence? Sorry for my n00bness
13. well this combination has caught my eye tbh, buy well and buy once, not cheap and buy twice i'm confused, if the amp is 500w @4 ohms and the 2x10 cab is 450w @ 8ohms, the amp wont blow the cab will it? the ohmage and wattage differences confuse me amp: http://www.andertons...epartmentID=685 cab: http://www.andertons...epartmentID=686 they work out at the same price as the ashdown ABM 2x10 combo i've seen (25% off matching cab and head) combo: http://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-combos/pid10645/cid687/ashdown-abmc210t-500-evo-iii-575-watt-2x10-combo.asp
14. i'm going wednesday to andertons, almost certain im after the ashdown ABM500 2x10 combos, offering the power i'm after but playing them will tell
15. i'm going to have to spend a day in andertons then arent i lol the stagebeat near me is very dissapointing to be honest
16. here are another 2 that have caught my eye: tc electronics BH500 Ampeg Portaflex PF-500 what are peoples opinions on the brands and their products? TC stuff seams to have a lot of oomph for the money thanks for the advice so far, in terms of paypal i didnt know you could link it to a credit card, thats interesting hmmmm nothing like owning new stuff though, the smell and excitement etc
17. as in title, for sale / trade is my vintage sunburst epiphone thunderbird that i bought last july, but i dont use it as much as i should, and it doesnt suit my playing style as much now standard thunderbird:

Pickups: 2-HB's
Hardware: Black
Scale: 34"
Nut Width: 1.73"
Neck: Bolt
Neck Mat: Maple
FB/Inlay: RW/Dot
Body Mat: Alder
Finishes: VS
This will come with a padded "Rokstar" gig bag, thunderbird specific fitment (£40 new) as well, and all of the original packaging and literature. There are no marks or modifications on the guitar, just a plectrum holder on the back of the body and a fender strap £200, would post at buyers expense but ideally i'd like a Fender P-Bass style guitar (age not an issue but good condition) or ibanez etc, try me, the worst i can say is no located in camberley, surrey (GU15) pics: Cheers Chris
18. ok so the band i'm in are looking at starting to do open-mic nights, hoping to progress onto small venues so i need to upgrade my amp, the current one i have is a "white horse" 80watt 1x10 amp, its ok for practicing, but i dont want to push it and blow it up, so i'm looking at amps around the 300watts mark more specifically the Ashdown MAG 4x10 300: http://www.andertons...ombo-evo-ii.asp i cant afford to have the cash and buy 2nd hand, so it'll be a credit card purchase (you only live once to be honest ) what other options are there? i know amps are a personal choice, and weight isnt an issue at the moment, as i'm a young fairly fit lad , andertons is the closest BIG music shop to me, although there is a newly opened stagebeat in farnborough so i might go and have a look. another option, if i was to credit card / finance it, is to go all out and buy a cab and head, been looking at the orange terror bass 500 with an ashdown 4x10 cab. I've been using an Ampeg 200w head with a trace 4x10 cab at the rehearsal rooms and it gives a really punchy sound, so i'm after 4x10 ideally. The guy that runs our practice rooms says that ashdown cabs are awesome, and that the amps can be un-reliable, now i know bad news travels fast, but is there anything to sustantiate these rumours? any help / suggestions would be awesome and much appreciated Cheers Chris
19. The band im in has 4 members Drums Bass Guitar Singer who plays keyboard/guitar depending on song 4 would seem ideal to me
20.
The daisy chain cable simply allows one PSU to be connected to multiple pedals. Because it is basically just a piece of wire, whatever you put into one end will come out of the other, AC or DC. What you need to be careful about is whether ALL your pedals are compatible with the SAME power supply unit.
i've checked the big muff and it works with the 9v AC pedal ok thanks for clearing that up
