1. Hey there. I'm on my way to band practice and my Pedaltrain strap has just bailed on me. I need a heavy duty type replacement. Any ideas where I can get one from?
2.
off the top of my head, my settings are: all flick switches up, and all the knobs between 3, 4 and 5 on a clock face, pretty full on.
Still manages to sound like turd
3. I'm wanting to get rid of the aforementioned pedals for reasonable prices as they have been well used. The Jackhammer has been well gigged but still in good shape as I've looked after it well. Asking £30 for it delivered. The ODB3 has been modestly used although it has a fair few scuff marks. Asking for £40 delivered. The ProCo Rat is a Rat 2 I believe, bought off Ant from Castrovalva. It has been modified to accept a 9v power supply. It is missing the back case, shamelessly covered with duct tape. Asking £50 delivered for this bad boy. All 3 come with Velcro and will be lovingly packed. Bank transfer preferred, PayPal accepted. Pictures to follow when I get some decent light going.
4. My band plays in a stupid drop tuning, drop A# or something to that effect. I detest drop tuning so I make good use of my numerous strings and tune my fiver half a step down. Makes songwriting more of a challenge, ergo a more fun when I nail it. Also, I don't think I could physically fit the stuff I play on a 4 string unless I drop tune it. Which really isn't an option for me. I have a 6 which I used for a while, then switched back to the 5 because it sounded nicer and the stuff I wrote on the 6 I could play on the 5, albeit at a stretch.
5. My Spector comes with an EMG preamp, which works but isn't amazing to be honest. It does sound good if you turn the amp volume all the way up, but it's very quiet if you plug it in to a recording unit in comparison to my Yamaha. Because I play through a Bass Terror, I'd like a bit more versatility from it so it seems going for the preamp is a good idea. I've been scouring the internets for a good place to find an OBP 3 preamp - I've decided I'm going to settle on that. I might have to go on bestbassgear, but is anyone aware of anywhere in the UK/Europe that could get it in quicker/slightly cheaper?
6. Hey there. I've been thinking about this for quite a while now, I own a Spector Legend Classic 5 series that looks exactly like this :http://bassclubchicago.bizland.com/store/media/SpectorLegend5AmberburstGloss I've had an issue with the EMG Hz pickups, both passive with an active preamp circuit. They don't seem to be very loud, the signal seems rather weak. I was doing some recording at our guitarist, Tom's house the other week, using a Peavey mixing unit - I forget what it's called. I took two basses, the Spector and my Yamaha RBX375. We plugged in my Spector first and Tom noticed it was oddly quiet and asked me to switch to my Yamaha which sounded pretty good through the unit. We had a look around the circuitry and replaced the battery without success, so we put it down to either a rubbish preamp or rubbish pickups. I have not got much of a clue about circuitry to be honest so I'm flying blind here, but I know I want to replace the pickups and the preamp. I've done some digging around the internet and have decided that I should probably change the preamp first. I was thinking of going for an Aguilar preamp first, but I'm not sure which one to go for, even after lengthy research. I was hoping one of you kind folk would steer me in the right direction. Yours faithfully, A gear noob. (Dan)
7. If I didn't have one of those I would've grabbed it by now, especially at that ridiculous price! Somebody buy it! It's such a fantastic bass, I'm more than amazed it hasn't sold yet :S
8. That's a gorgeous bass... I really really wish I had enough money! I hope you sell it soon, that bass deserves to be gigged.
9. Might I reccomend a Spector Q6 pro? Pretty cheep, but doesn't sound or feel like it. If you set it up right. They come with EMG Hz pickups, which aren't amazing, but if you manage to get some better replacements, they'll take just about anything on.
10.
I am going to have to give this away soon bump!
PM'd
11. Eyup! I'm Dan from Leeds and I too like to make noise and pretend I'm a guitarist! I provide my rumbles to a post-something-or-other(we haven't quite decided yet) band with the assistance of a couple of Spectors, a Legend Classic 5 in amberburst with gold hardware and a Q6 Pro in holoflash which I mainly use for the band. I also have a Cort funk machine that I rarely use for anything but doodles. I put these babies through an Orange Terror Bass when I'm out and about, and my Ashdown Evo II electric blue when I'm at home. I'm hoping you fine folk will help me progress my knowledge of hardware and how to use it, as well as tips on technique, theory and generally useful information. Most of all, I'm here for some friendly banter. I do hope I've turned up at the right place
