Not sure those switch enclosures will do the job you need any better than just gluing some piezos to a couple of pieces of wood and tapping them with your feet.

For cushioning, a bit from a neoprene mousemat is good.

Also , be careful as the weak point of the piezos are the solder joints. It doesn't take much to either break the wire or rip the solder off the disc.

Wise words here.  Why not buy a few piezo transducers and try experimenting to find out the possibilities.  A bit of wood with a piezo araldited to it, a bit of mouse mat double sided taped over the top and tap away.  Adjust to taste!  Sorry, forgot the lead.  Solder a length of lead or a jack socket to the piezo wires.  Can't solder?  use a connector block.

  2. easy peasy!

You need 2 of these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Piezo-Sounder-Sensor-Trigger-Drum-Disc-Transducer-Elements-Leaded-Range-of-Sizes/261498022342?hash=item3ce27f29c6:m:mbE9oU10UcjIN4_jnsiBEIQ

2, jack sockets and 2 leads and do something like this,

You could use a couple of bass drum pedals and make a couple of piezo ' bass drums ' as triggers.  I'm sure you can think of something.

  3. It certainly was this difficult 15 years ago, in fact, it was worse.  No emails then.  No Facebook, no websites only your phone, land line of course and good old Royal Mail who faithfully delivered promo material and demos that were totally ignored.  The only way to find gigs was to read the gig pages in the music press or possibly word of mouth then it was off the the library to read the Yellow Pages to try to find addresses.

At least now you can easily find venues to be ignored by!

  4. I bought the 1st bass you mention, l/h and deco and only cost about £20.  I still haven't found why it was a deco except that the pickup screws hadn't been screwed down properly.  The bass itself is HEAVY and the neck, for me, is very baseball bat, modern C shape apparently.  I tried it live and it didn't seem to project very well so I've put it back in its case and haven't touched it again since.  I really ought to get it out again and have a fiddle and see if I can't improve things. All that aside and it well be just me, it is incredible value for money, especially if you can get a deco one.  I've also got an l/h HB shorty and a Beat bass that I've converted to left handed. both deco and both incredible value for money!

Here's the page for deco if you're interested.  https://www.thomann.de/gb/decorative_guitars_and_basses.html?pg=2&ls=25  you need to keep checking it though and maybe set up an alert as they sell very quickly.

  5. Supported Budgie many times, a great band and a great bass player.  I don't know about the drummer at the time hitting his bass drum non-stop for an hour because there was allegedly a rattle on his monitor which only disappeared as the doors were opened for the audience and we were then allowed on stage to setup and soundcheck!

  6. You're basically creating an earth loop which is causing the hum.  The old method was to disconnect the earth from one of the amps.  The amp is still earthed through the input cable.  This is however frowned upon in the 21st century.  What you need is something like this, Behringer MICROHD Hum Destroyer HD400.  That will do the job.

  7. There's quite a few guitars on youtube with aluminium bodies.

I remember quite a few years ago that someone made one but had serious problems with tuning stability because of temperature fluctuations on stage and they came up with an ingenious spring arrangement for constant tuning stability.  It was featured in the music mags at the time.

Just had a quick google and there's a few companies making aluminium guitars already.  I don't know about basses though.
