Just a heads up for those, like me, that enjoy Flea waxing lyrical about all things music and creativity.
Begins in March..

Yes Elixirs are a good call, I get about 8 months to a year from a set. They don’t have that real fresh new string sound out of the pack, more like 2 week old sound but they retain it for so long that the slightly higher initial cost actually works out cheaper in the long run.
My earlier post re Warwick’s was more on a nickel like for like basis but thinking about it a set of steel Elixirs would probably match up quite nicely with EB Slinkys.
I've never tried Elixirs... what is the tension of them like? Can you compare them to any other strings tension-wise?

The bass now has a name, too: Angelbane.
I have a habit of naming my instruments. I don’t force it, though, it has to come naturally, some of them don’t have names because they don’t have the right personality. How pretentious does that sound?!
She joins the ranks along side Ravensfriend, Gloomborn and Mourneblade.
Glad you didn't go for "Betsy" 😄
Good idea for a thread... named basses with pics.

I'd leave the pickguard as is with black, but whatever works for you is best.
I'm a sucker for black Ps 👍

Kind of counter intuitive, but I sometimes shift the pitch up high on ASD as it makes some difficult to distinguish basslines pop out really well.
It all goes very Pinky and Perky but a useful hack occasionally!

I use Amazing Slow Downer - I just find the tune I want on YouTube then copy the url of it and Google for a YouTube to mp3 converter.
Easy fix to the problem.

Talkbass - I wonder if the reason people over there generally get offended so easily and yet are happily confident enough to attack others disproportionately is because everyone has guns in real life? (or so we're led to believe) 🤔
It's a different mindset on there for sure.

Yep, I have one in ultraviolet. Beautiful bass, lush roasted maple neck and classic Spector tones from the EMGs etc.
To my mind they're the best all round 'value for money' Spectors you can currently buy...
Thanks. I think... I don't need one but I keep going back to look! 😄
The necks do look fabulous. A pleasant handful no doubt.

Anyone here own or played a NS Pulse 2? They look like they're a lot of bass for the money...

Yes.

@devinebass I'd like to see you chat with Paz Lenchantin, now with PIXIES. She's played with many different people, plays piano, violin, has written string arrangements for a few too. Classically trained yet can rock out with the best of them. She's creativity personified, and a lovely person too.

I also, interestingly like a few others here, grew up in a house where music wasn't played.
I heard The Police on the top 40 which I would listen to in my bedroom and fell in love with them. Still listen to them now!

I'm sat in my kitchen right now listening to Brother's In Arms, the great album from Dire Straits & this got me thinking.
I was only a kid when Mark & co were tearing up MTV but this particular album is so ingrained in my subconscious that I can't help smiling & tapping a foot whenever I hear it.
My love is born out of sheer exposure as a kid. I was fortunate enough in that my parents had a great & varied taste in music & our house always had something great coming from the speakers.
So just for fun, what were you listening to as a kid that has stayed with you into maturity? (I use the term maturity very loosely 😁)
Strangely enough I played Brothers In Arms to my two young sons only yesterday while we were doing a spot of gardening. I hadn't listened to it for over 20 years but woke up with Money For Nothing giving me the earworm treatment so I just rolled with it!
They loved it!
