2. Update: Right! I'm going to be abroad from Tuesday for 6 weeks, would be nice to get it sold before I go so one final drop to £260. It's it's not sold by Sunday then I'll hold until I get back and it'll be back at £300 sitting on Basschat for the long wait For sale: Fender MIM Hybrid bass - 2014 MIM Precision body with 2015 replacement Fender jazz neck. £260. Selling a bass I bought from Meddle on Basschat for £300 just a few months ago! http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 You can see the full bass history there, and basically I'm selling it exactly the same with a change of strings. No issues with it apart from the little cosmetic touch-up on the body where it meets the neck as in the link above (and visible in the last pic below). It plays and sounds great. I'd always had in mind a precision with a jazz neck so I was interested when I saw Meddle selling a jazz neck and precision body, so he kindly put them together for me. I ummed and erred a little while because I really wanted a maple fretboard (w/black block inlays if possible), but figured I could get such a neck for over £400 from AllParts or wait forever and a day for someone to be selling one - so I went for this instead. Then a week later a guy is selling a precision with maple jazz neck (black block inlays) for £400 locally! I'm picking that one up tomorrow and so this one is back up for sale. So anyway, there's my life story, happy to ship it within the UK or deliver within 50 miles of Glasgow. Any questions please just ask

6. For sale: a TC Electronic 12V 1000mA (or 1A!) PSU. Bought to power a Markbass Compressore, selling because I've bought a Fuel Tank Chameleon and a current doubler - less wires at a much higher cost! This reliably powered the Compressore with no issues. It's in perfect condition and comes with the US/EU adapters too in case you ever want to take it abroad.
7. So I've got a noisy Squier VM Jazz - it's actually okay live but for recording at home it's a nightmare. My recording space is also an office space so I'm sure that doesn't help, but my telecaster guitar with single coils is fine noise-wise so the bass certainly takes a lion's share of the blame. I'm considering replacing the stock pups with SD Apollo humbuckers at some point but first I'd like to see what I can do in terms of shielding. So anyway I've read a few good articles and videos on shielding and have a plan in place that I'd like feedback on before I begin and two major questions! I'm planning on using conductive paint on all cavities, running wires between each and using strips of copper shielding to connect them, including to the bridge. I'll also put copper shielding on the back of the pickup covers (do I connect these bits to the conductive paint with wire?) and I've seen advice to run all ground wires to a ground nut (?) screwed into the body in the control cavity. So my two main questions are: Where am I actually grounding to? Is the ground nut just providing a convenient place to connect all these wires rather than the back of the pots, with grounding ultimately going via the jack? In which case I just put it wherever I like? Where are the spots where I'm going to have to be careful to avoid ground and hot meeting? As far as I understand it as long as the pickup itself doesn't touch ground apart from through the ground wire and as long as the relevant parts of the pots don't connect to ground I should be fine? As you can probably tell, I don't have great understanding of the electrical aspects of a bass! But I'm comfortable soldering at least! Thanks in advance
8. [s]For sale: a Fender Precision Bass guitar (MIM) with upgraded pickups and a hard case. [/s]SOLD It's in great and fully working condition with no issues. I bought it on here for £300 in April. A few months ago it was given a full clean and setup by GuitarGuitar in Glasgow (£60) and the standard Fender pickups were replaced with Seymour Duncan SPB3 Quarter Pound pickups (£65). The only other modifications were to install strap-locks and to replace the original pickguard with the one in the photo. It has been gigged lightly but always well looked after. The finish around the headstock has bobbled a little and so has the finish on the pickguard, but neither of these affect its playability or sound. I've included the original Fender pickups in the SPB3 box just in case you prefer the originals! Selling because I'm looking to change over to a Fender Jazz bass for my new band. I'll consider trades for a Fender (not Squier) Jazz, but apart from that just looking to sell. Can be delivered anywhere within 30 miles of Glasgow, posted at cost to the buyer or collected. Any questions just ask, thanks Andy

11. Thanks, both those ideas make sense and kudos for allowing the words "pop-punk" to go unridiculed
12. I've always avoided using a pick and I'm now looking to develop that side of things - starting with that straight forward chugging away on the root sound used in nearly every pop-punk song. My question is how precise is the picking technique used here? Specifically if I'm playing on the A string and putting a fair bit of force into it should I be still avoiding the E string carefully, and the others? Or do I just let it hit other string too and use my fretting hand to mute? With my thumb hooked round to mute the E string? Basic question I know, just never known or got round to asking anyone!
