  1. reduced to £300 for collection.
Picked this up from Facebook marketplace 18 months ago down south, from a lady who's names escapes me... believe this used to believe to Biro on here...

I paid 560 for it which was a decent price. Used this for a recording project and have really enjoyed the Bass.

When I moved to Scotland it suffered a bit of a knock and the pots took a bit of a beating,

I've taken it to Guitar Guitar, and JA Guitar Repairs (he's cool) in Edinburgh, both of which have done an okay job of trying to fix it but its not 100% full health...

    The good:

    -The neck is stunning

-The frets are still perfect, can take the action down to an impossible low level and sting frets cleanly

-Fret ends are finished to perfection, I think this has maybe been done since new because they are beautifully rounded and smooth.

    -Nordy big singles

    The bad:

-Truss rod cover missing (prev owner)

    -Pots are scratchy but functional

-Sometimes, but NOT always we have single coil hum that's annoying... wiring is not earthed properly (maybe? I'm not a bass doctor)

I just played it a monument ago, if I turn the blend pot back and forth a few times the hum stops.

-A prev owner I think has changed the 3 way mid selector switch to a two way; which I feel also tells me the wiring has been looked at before.

    The ugly:

    - Guitar Guitar gave it back to me with two missing screws on the rear cavity... and lost them. NICE. sure they can be picked up cheap.

ive already sunk some time and money into sorting this out.  so Im going to sell it a loss too someone on here that can probably fix it with ease, convert it to passive, or have pots to spare. it could just need new pots.. I don't think the actual preamp is damaged and it would make sense that the pots are the reason for the issues as they got hurt during the move.

    collection from Edinburgh

Send us a DM for more info incase I missed anything.

    Cheers!

    Robert.

  2. Reducing down to £1000 for a straight sale.

    Location: Edinburgh

    Hey, been a while since I done a sale/trade.

So this may be long shot but would love to trade my USA Sterling for a MM Stingray. Reason being I much prefer the thicker neck profile of the Stingray (I regret selling my old stingray so would love one back in the collection!)

Sounds similar to the Stingray of course but with a bit more bite in the mids which I think is due to the ceramic pickup - also some extra flexibility with the coil tapping.  I think a trick up the Sterlings' sleeve is engaging the single coil mode; sounding a bit like a bridge pickup jazz with a Musicman tonal vibe. This I love about the Sterling, but I just can't get on with the thinner neck.

bit hard to value this as there are so few around. I am prepared to add cash your way for a trade.

Some minor scuffs, and some buckle rash from the previous owner.

    - Had a set up, jack fix, and some internal wiring looked at last year at http://sglguitars.mysite.com

    - Newish light gauge slinkies fitted still pretty fresh.

    - Brand new official bridge saddles fitted recently curtesy of ahpook (what a guy!!) (the old ones seized)

    - truss rod all good.

Any questions, or more photos or anything give me a shout! may be open to other trades. just in person dealing at the moment. willing to travel bit. can come over and take a look, I have a small PJB amp.

    Cheers

    Robert.

  3. Yeah proper stripped. I think a combination of sweat/oxidation etc and the extreme heat it just crumbled.
I tried to use some pliers but there’s not enough to get a grip on.

thankfully it’s enough of a stump to the point that it’s how I would have my action so I flipped the saddles around the bass is now playable.

I was thinking; I have a Dremel drill and so tiny mettle drill bits - wondering if I could drill through it and masticate the screw.

  4. Hey guys!

so I picked up a MusicMan Sterling (USA) a while ago in a trade. Lovely thing; although I’ve not really touched it for a while, recently I thought to give it a nice set up… until, to my horror I realised the previous owner has glued the bridge saddles with permanent thread locker.

I think it’s permanent Thread locker as there are remnants on a browny red marks around the saddles.

but man, can’t adjust those saddles at all - how sad.

I’ve tried bathing them in acetone over night.
I tried heating them with a heat gun to see if that breaks down the adhesive all in vain .

    anyone got any ideas?

looks like you cannot order replacements  to the UK. And I’m not sure if an aftermarket set of saddles would work.

I feel like Ryan Gosling in the Papyrus SNL sketch. Just wondering to myself why they did this. Hahah.

  5. Selling due to moving to a small flat and looking to go to a headphone amp / DAW only setup for bass playing. Looking to go ultra portable / minimal

Both head a cab in a great condition

The cab used ONCE for a band practice and honestly since then just sat around - never gigged. Still has price tag on it….

The head has had more usage but only for DI in a signal chain for recording in home studio . Very light signs of use (small scratch in paint on top)

The cab is the real star. Being only 19kg and skinny enough to carry around very easily.

The head is similar to the RH units but stripped back interface (physical encoders) no presets etc. has a great dynamic compression and realistic tube distortion.

Head is permitted to run without a cab connected too so it’s awesome for recording. happy to answer serious questions.

Still have the invoice for this cost me nearly a grand. Owned from new. I think it’s a reasonable price - but if I’m way off let me know. Just want this to go to a good home and gain funds to buy a Darkglass Microtubes preamp so I can carry on playing without the rig.

Comes with a brand new speakon cable too.

if I don’t respond right away message me 0741492860349B49157-E99E-4C1D-85CB-5D8C0783439C.thumb.jpeg.10db3c5f2c1258b88e1e65dbacabf5d5.jpeg680D2E52-3B0E-4704-A0F6-07596FC8CD74.thumb.jpeg.8ff89ce3a60da0cb324509561b5bbcbd.jpegEE0671A7-6827-4DEF-81E3-5CA4F203E22D.thumb.jpeg.010e69eca62b93774d26ea2b5e81e624.jpeg9F756EC8-6611-4351-B9B5-1BBBCEAE8216.thumb.jpeg.a13f530eaa9ebd5cc4fe04d10f87aad5.jpegB025856E-239A-4D80-8CE2-0C0D33EC421A.thumb.jpeg.1c8d221eeac7a331e50ded2eae0db0de.jpeg2AA5DF24-567F-4785-94C4-5A4DB053870D.thumb.jpeg.8f9a1edfa83db33d235119bd8fff4c3f.jpeg

  6. Hey guys!

looking for a bit of advice,

I have a musician Sterling that needs some electrical attention - could anyone recommend a guitar tech who could potentially fix (portsmouth/Hampshire)

detail wise; when plugging in the jack I heard a loud buzz/hum (exactly the same noise as when you put your hand on the cable when plugged into the amp)

I took out the jack plate to take a look; the wires looked connected but as I inspected one of the wires detached. Even when touching the wire to broken solder point the same loud buzzing noise continues. Which leads me to believe there could be more issues inside.

im not up for DIYing this as I’ll probably burn the house down.

any recommendations around portsmouth/Hampshire for a guy with the know how would be awesome willing to pay what ever is needed.

    Thanks all!

Nice! Thank you for the response. Yeah that would do nicely for sure. Will try and locate the original one first and if no luck the eBay one will do.
I’ll try contacting Ibanez with the part number.
    ‘thank you for your help!

  8. Heya guys!

truss rod cover replacement for an SR1205 premium,  how can one obtain such a thing.

so I recently picked an Ibanez SR1205 off Facebook; I’ve seen this particular model change hands on Basschat characterised by its missing truss rod cover lol.

man this bass is so good. Definitely a keeper needless to say the missing truss rod cover drives me crazy.

wondering if one can be ordered, or someone has one to sell/ or can anyone point me to someone who could build one.

    thank you!

This bass is very cool. Im literally on the trigger. I wonder if some Nordy fat stacks would fit in this.? What sort of trades are you looking at.?

Hey! I can't confirm exactly - but could try and get some measurements for you if it helps...
pretty open with trades - its the only bass in my collection that I haven't bonded with, it just kinda sits around looking pretty. I willing to put cash towards a trade if need be.

I mean its certainly a cool instrument. and had fun playing with it. I do like to experiment with all sorts of basses. because of all the positive comments I took it out and popped some new Roto's on it. almost had second thoughts haha!

  10. Order #6534

Tobias Toby Pro IV Tobacco Sunburst

    serial: U05090251  Unsung (Korea) I believe 2010's

Open minded to any trades, and will consider an offer.

Few very minor finish scratches from clothing, which could be polished - but no dings or dents. Overall in great condition.

Tone wise, this to my ear sounds like a darker more plummy Jazz, it's not a particularly modern sounding bass, deffo more leaning towards a vintage voice but that my opinion off course. Personally really enjoy the bridge pickup sound for bark'y articulate finger style. Both pickups together work well with a pick for a decant rock tone. 2-band active preamp is quiet with good headroom. My Thumb bass crosses paths tonally so to speak; hence the sale/trade. Only issue IMO is one of the bridge PU screw heads is a bit worn- It does still provide enough traction to unscrew - but I would approach with caution and be gentle, ultimately replace at some point.

I think this bass would love a set of EMG soapbars, other than that its a solid bass with plenty of usable tones.

let me know if you've got any questions I will get back to you. I am in the middle of moving house at the moment but will try and accommodate anyone who wants to demo the bass. I don't have my main bass rig set up at the moment so just a practise combo - you're welcome to come with your amp and try it out.

    Cheers!

  11. Last bump before eBay. gotta eat.

    THE G STRING IS FINE

The bass has the original vintage bridge with grooved saddles. Essentially the string sits where ever you put it. its looking wacky in the photo because i had the neck off prior to taking the photo and didn't put it back properly.

    Will take 750 now. thanks.
