1. Hi, would you be willing to send it all the way down to southampton?
2. Not an expert on these things, but would a Warwick or Sandberg come out cheaper? Given theat they are made in Germany, and that we are all part of the EU? Good luck bass hunting!!
3.
One of the Squiers? Which one, what did you think?
Nope not one of the squiers. Fender have just brought out a new CIJ jaguar that's around £770. http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/searc...rtno=0259505500 I played one and I loved it, however I have never played one of the old jap jags so I can't compare.
4. Had a go on the jazz with precision pickups today and thought it was pretty nice! The colour was this horrid glitter white thing, and the build quality was slightly worse than the mexican standard. However it sounded beastly!! Soloing the front pickup gave a solid p-bass tone, and using them together gave something sounding between a jazz and a p-bass. Really liked the tone, even sounded nice with my dismal attempts at slapping! Overall I would say the design is good, just not sure about the build quality. Then again it retails at about £520 so it's one of the cheapest things you can get with a fender badge on it. On a different note I also tried one of the new jags, and that has got me really GASing!
5. That tru oil really gives a great looking finish, I may well do the same thing. Did you find that the gotoh bridge meant you couldn't have a really low action? I know this a problem some people have with some jazz basses and these bridges. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jazz-Style-Bass-2-pi...141584357843458 I was thinking of using this body as the holes for the bridge are already drilled and the routing is done in such a way that I can leave the pickguard off. Combined with a MM maple neck, it should be dead simple to screw together this bass. Also ash or alder body? I think ash is lighter maybe? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I have never done anything like this before and just want to make sure I don't make any stupid mistakes.
6. Whoa! Nice basses dude! The oil finish on the jazz is awesome! I was thinking of making an MM jazz, as the prices for the parts seem resonable, and everyone seems to love them! My concern with doing it is that I have absolutley no experiance doing this sort of thing, so how difficult is it to make?
7.
Hmmm. The two Epis will equal 4 ohms, so as the amp is 500 watts at 4 ohms you`ll have the max power available. With the GK cab at 8 ohms, you`ll get 350 watts. From what I`ve read on similar posts on here, that isn`t really going to make that much of a difference. However, the sensitivity of the cabs will play a major part here. If the GK has a higher db sensitivity rating, coupled with larger surface area, this could well be the louder option. Epis are 99db. GKs, depending on which model are either 100db or 101db. Am sure the really technical guys will be able to offer better advice, based on the figures above. At this point, my brain gives out.
Cheers for the reply! Yeah, to be honest it sounds like it's gonna be a pretty close run thing... hmmm some more pondering is in order me thinks!
8.
Volume is limited by the displacement of the drivers. The average twelve has more displacement than the average ten, so a 2x12 will usually have more output capability than two 1x10s. I say usually, as a particular ten may have more displacement than a particular twelve. Unfortunately manufacturers won't tell you what the displacement is of the drivers they use.
Thanks for the info, but will the fact that there is more power running to the the 2 110's make any difference?
9. In need of some advice! I have a GK mb-500 and a Epifani UL2 110 speaker, and it sounds great! But i need some more volume, and was wondering what would be louder, 2 Epi 110's or 1 GK 2x12? The 110's are both rated at 8ohms and so is the 2x12. The reason i ask is beacuse i will have one output from the amp to the cab for the 2x12 as oppose to two outputs for the 2 110's. Also any comments on difference in sound are welcomed. Thanks :-)
10.
I'm in Kettering, and your more than welcome to come try it out.
Ok, whens good for you? I am busy until sunday.
11. Hi i live in northants too, was wondering if i might be able to try out the cab? Should sound nice with my GK mb500, whereabouts do you live?
12.
i have one and use it for late night practice once the kids are in bed. The sound is crisp and clear with no issues for me with the E string. No 9v in though - battery only i'm afraid
Cheers, i think i will get one. I will post a review of it once i get it and a decent DI/preamp box :-)
13.
At the risk of being cheeky, I've got one up for sale at the moment in the For Sale section. It'd save you a few bob on the new price if you're interested in actually buying one
I just listened to some sound clips and i am kind of set on the M80 now :-/ I just really like the distortion, mainly due to the dry/distorted blend knob. Sorry and good luck with your sale!
14. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has tried an EHX headphone amp? Will it produce a nice clear sound, and be able to handle the low frequencys of the E string?
15.
http://www.ehx.com/products/headphone-amp Don't have it myself, looks cool though!
Haven't seen one of those before! They look awesome, combined with a MXR M80 would do everything i need and be £100 cheaper than the EBS. Thank you very much!! XD
16.
I use my Para Driver in this way. It drives headphones fine but is not the loudest. I don't think it's necessarily true that any preamp / line out will drive headphones.... I think a designated headphone out is designed to drive a lower impedance. The EBS Microbass II does have a dedicated headphone out and I think does everything else you want (and much more).
Yeah, the EBS looks awesome but it's very pricey. Maybe i could use my Boss limiter enhancer just as a volume boost if it's not that loud... but then it would probably just hiss a lot :-/ cheers for the reply
17.
DI, distortion and headphones - can't think of one box that does it all, but plenty that do 2 out of 3. Maybe focus on the distortion (as thats the most personal taste?) and get a simple headphone amp to plug into? Otherwise your into full blown multi effect boxes.....
I see... Is there some kind of small box, that could turn the output of a MXR M80 into one i can plug headphones into? Or what DI boxes are available that have headphones output? The reason i ask is that the headphone output of my GK MB500 is very hissy, and i want i decent DI box anyway. Oh, and thank you for the reply :-)
18. Hello good people of basschat! My dilema is fairly simple, will any of the outputs of a DI box like an Aggie tonehammer, or a MXR M80, be suitable for headphone use? Basicaly I am looking for a pedal which has a DI, 3 or more band EQ, some sort of overdive or distortion, and a way of plugging headphones into it. Does such a thing exist? I was guessing that as these DI boxes have preamps in them, that the output would be suitable for headphones? I am may be talking complete rubbish as I am a bit of a bass noob, but i could really do with some guidence :-)
19. Hi, I'm very interested in this cab. Just wondering what ohm is the cab? And would it be possible to have it delivered/couried to northamptonshire? And just to double check the blown speaker is all fixed now?
20. Price drop to £180, grab yourself a bargain!
21.
Hi I might be interested just have think about the weight though. Is it easy to manage on your own? Where abouts in Northamptonshire are you? Cheers
I live in greens norton, a village near towcester (postcode nn12 8db if u wanna google maps it) i believe it weighs 33kg, may be slightly more or less. It isn't that easy to move on your own, however i manage to lift it and carry it about 100 yards on my own without any problems, probably need two people to handle stairs. Bear in mind i never go to the gym and i am from a long line of men with athletic ineptitude :-P If you got any more questions just ask :-)
22. Just dropped the price to £370 due to lack of interest, really can't go lower than this.
