Had an absolute flippin' stormer!
Pub venue that is very local to me that has taken ages to get booked with (new management = interest in new bookings). It's always busy in there and it was no different last night. I think we went down very well (covers band with a good few unexpected ones in the mix) with the very mixed age, packed audience.
I used my usual Ashdown set up and pedal board with my SansAmp and my bitsa P bass. The on stage sound was hard work with half the stage area surrounded with sound deadening curtains and deadening foam on the low ceiling above. My sound was a bit too thick for my liking and my top end aggressive edge was hard to pin down. The drummer's sub was squeezed in behind my amp and him and I think that may have unbalanced things for me. Anyway, soldiered through as you do We;re back there again in April, which is nice.
My usual squeeze - from a previous gig. Please ignore the settings!

Yes, it's great catching up on some of these. Many of which I haven't seen since the day they aired and apart from the well known bands and songs, it's those odd ones that you have no recall of that I love (and question how it ever got in the charts!).

Ok, so we're boasting about our 6 music achievements now are we? Good, here I go ! 🙂
Couple of comment read out: one Lamaqc (or Lammo as we 6'ers call him 😉) , one Tom Robinson.
Won the Marc Riley "Who's on My T-shirt" a few years ago, including an on air chat with Marc. See picture of the shirt ... can you guess who it is? My favourite band is the Fall so it was big moment for me, but a bit embarassing when he asks who my favourite band is.
Got selected for a feature on Tom Ravenscroft where you pick two songs from a particular year, plus a significant object from that year in your life. On air interview included - pre-recorded though. Both the songs I chose where ones I first heard on John Peel, so was dreading making some clumsy comment/reference about his dad.
(Songs were: "Mind you Own Business by Delta 5, and Heidi's Head by Kleenex)
You win!!

Remember that he was involved with the early punk scene, so he does have some music credentials outside funk and soul.
His Trunk of Punk feature is great!
(Trunk of Punk - listener or sometimes a guest chooses 3 punk tracks, daily feature)
Still haven't called my Trunk of Punk selection in yet. Regularly get my comments about what selection has just been played read out though

These have to be all shades of dodgy.. don't they?
And these too?
How can you tell at first glance? Do they use a pic of some genuine strings and then ship wonky ones?

Good luck to everyone out there tonight and be ready for the drunken goof who wants to spill booze all over your pedal board while trying to join you on stage..

Yes, at our regular pub venue in Poole. We were booked for somewhere else but they had to close due to redevelopment so we were at a loose end. Our regular venue asked if we were interested as they now had availability (for a crappy fee mind) so it was either thumb twiddling or gigging, so we decided to take it.
As our regular gig, it nearly always goes down well, so we are expecting NYE to be a complete giggle. All the tickets were sold old a week or so ago

As a big fan of The Tubes, I was saddened to learn that Rick Anderson passed away on December 16th.
He was a great player - solid, supportive and flashy only when he needed to be.

Yeah, he nailed some excellent bass lines. One less White Punk On Dope

Can excessive heft result in unfortunate exhibition of cleft?

The Germans gave it to their troops, but they still lost.
Pervitin as they called it. The Allies were certainly not shy of handing out bop pills to the various services either.

When I first heard Peaches by The Stranglers as a young teen, I was at odds to know what the "kootaris" was that she was trying to get out off.. 😆
I love changing words as I sing, generally to something quite childish and unnecessary but it makes me chuckle.

Tell us how it went!!!

1. Doesn't speed up.
2. Doesn't slow down.
3. Is able to react accordingly if either of the above have been brought to their attention.

And of course after Billy Sheehan left, the excellent Paul Gray (ex Eddie & The Hot Rods and The Damned) strapped on a T'bird and powered them on some more

Damn, too short. Needs to be around 47" by th looks of it. Sorry, I'll back out.

Hi
What fits in it? It looks short scale. Would it fit a P bass?

As I recall, it's an 80's Fullerton Precision body (from @Beedster) with a Ki0g0n loom. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder SPB-3 pups and the neck I think was from Harrier and is a lefty Jazz style, very thin. The truss rod is a mare to do anything with though. It needs some attention and tweaking but I love it Oh and of course Basschat strap retaining buttons
