1. Here is my SG Reissue bass born in Oct 2005 and has a lovely rich cherry finish and here is my short scale Epiphone ET280 from the mid 70's ( the same as my first proper bass) which I bought a couple of years ago from a fellow bass chatter who imported from the US in pieces. The pickups were shot, so I got them rewound by Armstrong Pickups, and the truss rod was maxed out so I got my local luthier to do the 'add a washer' fix. It is actually 'redder' than this photo suggests just a bright day making it look orange and is in great condition for its age. It came with the bridge cover that is often missing for this guitar but it has lost its thumb rest.
2. Bump with any offers near £300 welcome. Cheers
3. .........or try me with other basses although I do prefer jazz/thunderbird neck profiles Bump
4. Price drop to £310 and will also consider trades for TC Electronic RH450, any valve preamp D class amp or speakers RS210. Cheers
5. As I recently acquired a Fender Jazz US American Traditional I have decided to sell my MIM version. Product dated 2007-2008 the Bass is in lovely condition save for three chips in the back of the body. These were knowingly present when I bought it but they can’t be seen from the front and since purchase I have to covered them with creamish nail varnish which has made them a lot less obvious than the bare wood. They look better than the photos show as I have applied a number of coats of nail varnish since. The neck is brilliant and I was informed when I bought it that it had been upgraded with Radioshop Pickups Handwound Vintage '62 Jazz Bass Pickups. The pickups can be checked out at http://www.radioshop...m/bass-pickups/ – but unfortunately I do not have any documents to confirm their presence. However they look the same as on their website under their covers and they have cloth covered wiring so definitely not the stock pick ups. I think they cost around £140. The bass sounds really smooth and warm whist still maintaining that jazz rasp. I did consider swapping them into the American Traditional but have decided to retain this in stock guise. Bridge cover and thumb rest included and it is a much better looking bass than the American Traditional and I am really unsure which one to sell. Just can’t justify two jazzes. So a great looking and sounding jazz with little wear apart from the three chips which are mitigated by having upgraded pick ups and bridge cover. In view of these upgrades I am looking for £350 and as regards trades maybe a Orange Terror bass amp or with cash your way a Gibson EB Bass. Collection only however as I have no case but I am willing to travel to meet up if not too far I live near Loughborough about 15/20 mins from J23 M1.
6. Thanks for all comments as an an update I decided it was the knobs and not the scrachplate that did not look right and so I have just put on some usual black fender Jazz knobs which has improved its looks greatly.
7. I bought this s/h about two/three years ago as a back up to an AH250 I used to own and this one actually saved my bacon one night at a gig when the AH250 cut out, I think due to overheating. I have since acquired a newer AH300 as my main amp and also a TC Electronic BH250 which is much smaller and lighter to carry than the AH150 as a backup. The AH150 sounds very similar to the AH300 and it looks like it was originally taken out from a combo. It is contained in a large Stagg rack case which does a good job. I also bought separately the pedal (not shown) to remote control the TE mid cut shape and graphic equaliser. It is loud with 150 ‘trace’ watts into 4 ohms and works well but does have the two green button covers missing off the TE mid cut shape and graphic equaliser on the amp but both still function. Looking for £80. Collect only in view of weight I am afraid although we could meet up depending on location. I reside about 15/20 minutes away for Junction 23 of the MI. Now Sold Thanks
8. Hmm..strange that you should say that as I just checked again and my Gibson Thunderbird fits and lids close etc with no issue. I wonder if they have changed the specifications? I also see from the Andertons website that it says it fits the Pro basses and I always understood it did not. I do know that Jazz basses don't fit but I guess if anyone wants this they could bring their bring their T'ird with them to check although I am prepared buy it back if anybody finds it is unsuitable.
9. 'Bit sad' 'Bitsa' now that makes more sense and yes I think it is made up at Fender as a bitsa from spare parts left over in the a corona cupboard
10.
If you're looking for a jazz chrome pot plate I'm sure I've got one somewhere. Looks to me like its a bit sad. So do whatever you like.
Certainly looks strange although I wonder if that is because we are not used to seeing it on a jazz. I am thinking about doing a small reversible mod of putting black Strat knobs on for contrast which may make it happier. I don't think they are that rare but may be in original condition. Certainly plays well and seems to have incredible sustain.
11. So I recently picked this bass up which was a bit of a ‘barn find’ really. Absolutely dirty condition, rusty strings with loose and ineffective pots. The bloke I bought it from said it had not been out of its case for at least ten years, as he played guitar, and he bought it second hand in the mid 90s, which was not quite true on dating it. Anyway after a good clean and polish, pots sprayed, neck oiled and new strings it now looks new and I really cannot find a mark on it – not even any buckle rash or fret wear. In addition it is still all original – but the question is, what is original. Does anyone know more about the components of this bass guitar. (sorry cant get them right way up) There is limited and conflicting information on the web about the story behind this guitar which appears to have been put together with a left over 1983 one piece scratch plate and some sites say US bodies/necks and Mexican hardware and some sites the other way around. I also believe they were export only and were only made for a couple of years and the serial number dates in 1999/2000. Says made in USA and American Traditional in small script on the headstock. The pots, by the way, are the smaller ones but now work and with no scratching and there are two dates on the body neck socket - Jun 08 1999 and Jul 02 1999. Also a number 247843. The neck is great and plays like butter and sounds marginally better than my MIM Jazz, which has upgraded radioshop vintage pick ups, not so muddy and with a lot more sustain. It is also about 0.5lb lighter at 9.4lb. But do I mod it with an upgraded bridge, pickups and pots and perhaps replace the one piece pick guard with the usual jazz two piece offering, which will involve making new holes to fit? Or do I keep it totally original and in its period hardcase? Hmmm…..
12. I bought this hardshell case for my Epiphone Thunderbird new in December 2011 but have since sold, well traded, the Thunderbird when I upgraded to a Gibson Thunderbird as I never played the Epiphone. The person who undertook the trade did not want the hardcase. It is a rugged wood case covered in Tolex, but does have a few inevitable scuff marks, and features padded plush lining and accessory compartment. Specially designed and built for Epiphone or Gibson Thunderbirds, although I believe they will not fit the Thunderbird Pro series. It cost me around £80, if I recall correctly, and therefore seeking £40 and collect only in view of size I am afraid although we could meet up depending on location. I reside about 15/20 minutes away for Junction 23 of the MI.[/color
13. Hi Tina sorry to hear about your dad and it must be painfull selling his gear but you have come to to the right forum to sell his stuff without being ripped off with fees etc. One thing that might be helpful though is an indication of where you are located as I guess firstly you would like buyers to collect and pay cash and secondly they may they may wish to try the guitar or amp before purchase. But the Jazz looks good! Cheers
14. Absolutely! But unless I am missing it whereabouts are you located pls ?
15. I used to have one of the old heavy AH250 GP12 with ultra violet light which had a lovely warm sound but it let it me down one night when it got too hot. Luckily I had an old AH100 as back up. I replaced the AH 250 with a carpet covered AH300 GP 7 which I use straight with no EQ or pre-set on and love the sound and having now some 2 years is proving to be a solid reliable workhorse. However the AH 100 is a heavy amp to cart around purely as backup and therefore I have now have a TC Electronic BH 250 which being a D class is much lighter to carry around. Not as good as good as the TE but will get me out of a pickle if need be and similar tone.
16. I guess it does and certainly makes sense now
17. Lovely looking but what is the round thing just below the bridge - a reflection or a stuck on pick holder? Thanks
18. Thanks - even more so as I have now dropped the price to £100!
19. Thanks Grangur Yes near Loughborough in Leicestershire so I guess if someone was looking to trade I would be looking to travel say about 30 mile radius unless of course they come to me Cheers
20. Squier Standard Jazz Bass 4-String Bass Guitar Pewter Metallic with matching coloured headstock and made in Indonesia. I believe the Standard Series used to be the next ones up to from the cheaper Affinity models and were introduced in 2001 but I believe now discontinued. I am selling as I recently purchased a Fender Jazz MIM and so this one is now surplus to my requirements. Good condition but a few buckle marks on the reverse, plays and sounds well and was my back up bass at gigs. I was asking for £120 but now £100. In my quest to try other basses I would possibly consider trades with cash either way – especially Gibsons and Epiphones - so try me. Collect or meet up locally only in view weight and no case/gig bag. Thanks for looking and please contact me with any questions

22. I bought this wine red Yamaha BB414 early this year on a bit of the usual gas/whim and apart from a needing a very good clean and some new D’addario strings it was, and now is, in very good condition with evidence of very little use. I was informed when I bought it that it was made in 2005 which seems about right. These really are underrated basses and it is comfortable to play with a fast neck and a deep Precision sound. Also the P/J setup is excellent giving more tone options and the bridge pickup is unusually the same volume as the neck pick up. Very similar to the current BB424 but with, I believe, a slimmer neck and no string through option. Average weight about 8.7Ib according to my luggage scales. I did originally prefer it to my MIM P Bass but then I bought a wiring kit from Kiorgen which improved by P Bass that I now prefer the Fender, well at least for the moment. I see no point of keeping two basses that have very similar sounds and as I now have a bit of a gas for a Gibson EB bass or Fender japan/US Jazz I have decided to sell the BB414. Looking for £150, which appears to be the going rate, although can add cash to trade up to a Gibson bass or Fender US or Japan Jazz. I would also consider a Epiphone T’ bird classic, with the Gibson pick ups, or may be something else Collection only from near Loughborough although happy to deliver if nearby.
