As the Basschat community has always been fantastically supportive in checking out new music, we released our first brand new music in over a year. “Gloss” is out today via Ray Records and streaming on all the usual platforms. As always, we collaborated with Haunting the Atom to make this fun video.

For anyone wanting a bit more background, it’s influenced by the post punk bands of our youth. I wanted a Stooges / Velvet Underground simplicity to the music (one note solo and bass line) but with an intelligent lyric. It isn’t typical of next year’s forthcoming third album and is probably the rockiest track we’ve written. Filmed in my house (which stunk of incense for several days afterwards), we had a blast doing this.

Loved it, will buy the album when it comes out, really liked the writing on the mirror thing, cool video and a great song :)

Decent rehearsal on Sunday, and Shout is in the set list for our gig in Wakefield which is good. Still enjoying the practice studio in general but at one point there was an awful eggy smell that put us off for a few minutes, so next time I'll be booking a room away from the toilets (nobody in the band claimed responsibility, which they would have if it was one of them!). Looking forward to the next gig because it's been a few months since the last one.

The one that smelt it dealt it !! ;) 😛 😂

Busy day yesterday. We had the first gig from 2-3 at an outdoor 'festival' like thing in dorset, that we had done 3 years in a row. They had this thing where there were electric bands on the truck in the garden and acoustic bands in the teepee thing next to it between, so 1 hour for each - but it was exactly 1 hour for each, so you got on the stage, set up, plugged in, they did a line check and then you waited for your time to go and there was no gap, so obviously sound wasn't good on stage, and not so great outside as there was no time to setup. But it went down ok - it was raining a little when we were setting up, but by the time we played it was very sunny and well attended. All in all there was a nice atmosphere there and it was a good afternoon. I would have stayed longer but in the evening we had to be back nearer home for a wedding.

The wedding we got to at 6 but they were doing speeches so we had to wait outside and not make noise. We waited for a while, they had finished the speeches but the staff wanted to move all the tables, we waited another half an hour, so finally it was closer to 7 by the time we set up to be ready by 8, for some reason it took a while to get ready as everyone was in each others way. Did the first hour, there was noone in the building, they were all outside in the sun, which sort of makes sense, way of weddings. Then it was time for food so everyone came back in and I put music on on the ipad, we went back on at half 9 to play to 11:15, the guitarist was very grumpy to go past 11. But the second half was dancing all the way through and we went down a storm so that was good. We couldn't play the last encore as it was 11:16 so the guitarist wouldn't play, and he had to be home in 5 minutes after that, so he went, but the singer stayed to help me with the PA

Very profitable day all in all and got all the gigs for the weekend over and done with in a day

Oh dear does your guitarist turn into a pumpkin if he's not home by midnight !! ;) 😛 😂

TTFC's second gig last night at The Garden, Chorlton.

Venue used to be Font Bar but has just changed hands, so all the signs still say Font.  They're just getting live music up and running, so there isn't a ready made audience there yet.  Fortunately it's a local gig for two of us so we brought quite a few people, to the extent where I knew almost everybody in the place!  It's got a lot of potential once it gets a reputation and people know there's music on.  Bar staff were super chilled and helpful, always a bonus and never taken for granted.

We played well, although I made more little mess ups than I should have. The drummer is fettling the recordings, so I'll be able to agonise over them at my leisure soon despite being the only one who noticed on the night.  Two 1hr+ sets and 30+ songs (most of them new to me) that haven't all embedded into the muscle memory yet.

Gear was Fender Japan Kazuki Arai Jazz 5 -> HX Stomp -> GR One 350 -> PA.  Footwear was Vans classic lace ups.

A couple of phone clips from friends. If anyone can figure out how to let me resize them please shout up!

Your singer has a beautiful voice, enjoyed the clips, you all sounded great :)

Well... Changed the battery under the Scratch Plate, inspected all the crazy EMG wiring under the Control Plate, and put on a fresh set of Elixir 40-95's and it sings. Never had a Bass with those active EMG's before and I have to say, it's a very balanced and punchy sound. Didn't even need to play with the action - it's already on the deck and relief looks perfect. I'd say it's a winner.

That's terrific, glad you are happy with it :)
