good evening one and all
yet again I throw myself at the combined expertise known as basschat,
the dilemma that I have is at present I use a gallien kruger backline 2x10 combo
with a matching 2x10 cab,
I want to go down the 1x12 or 1x10 cab route with a amp,oh that would be two cabs,
it is a case of given that I play a five string ect and what I use now handles that,
but I am unsure about only having two by one ten cabs which is just down to my own inexperience with them
so my question is what are your recomendations given that I play blues, covers ect, pubs and the like
budgets well
about 700 to 800 plus trading my gallien kruger kit
thanks in advance for the advice,
cheers

Just out of curiousity, which Yamaha fiver was it? I just bought a TRBX505 and had a couple of quality issues with it.

brilliant service from gak,
having bought a yamaha fiver and it being delivered as and when I was told,
there was a small issue to which the guys could not do enough to resolve,
giving me options all of which were great,
suffice to say they solved what in fact was a small issue brilliantly,
so well done to them,
good job guys

can someone please advise me as to what strings to use,
I recently bought a four string acoustic bass for a idea that I have,
for all my other basses I use extra light gauge strings on both 4/5 strings basses,
the question I have is can I use the same strings that I normally use or are there specific
strings for a acoustic,
thanks in advance for the advice
cheers

it has crossed my mind to do another one as well,
watch this space -
so after a few misses and after a bit of faffing about,
I have finally joined a band,doing originals,
and after so many years of being away from bands I forgot how good it feels,
but isnt it funny how in the same week I got another two offers, one doing blues
and the other doing rock covers, both quite tasty bands,
but the chance of putting my mark on the music was the thing that clinched for me
also the drummer and I got on a hoot as well as played well together in such a short time
so onwards and upwards
so cheers for now
stef -
great band,
and as you say back on form for sure -
do you have any trades in mind
-
ha ha just went old school and played along to rush 2112
managed to get through the whole thing without too many errors
given that its about 15 years since I last done it,
so will go again later, then perhaps a fretless with john martyn -
to join another band and make sure that I am playing this time next year

I stopped for 10 plus years, started playing again got a real bad case off gas
changed all the gear bar the 69
but now a couple of years in feel better in myself
and find it a little more difficult to do things that I took for granted before
but loving it just as much and having fun
gear at the show,
