On the same page for a couple of quid more, I actually like the look of this.

well what a gig,
really superb,he was on top form playing was sublime,
the band was superb, bass player and drummer just nailed it,
then halfway through the set the bass player pull out a five string fretless wal
for the ice melts into water, that chap can play
all in all a fantastic night, great banter with the audience,
good sound fantastic show
,close your eyes and you were transported back to the day -
so it is going to be a evening of it bites music
with his full band
in his word even dusted of the white squier
it all happens at the bush hall sunday
I cannot wait
if last nights gig in woverhapton is anything to go by
well it is going to be a special treat -

If you've a spare room with enough space to sleep in you don't have enough gear
tee hee will try and tell her that,
given that now I have done something to the television in the lounge and it has stopped working,
I have just informed her and she has hit the roof,
I suggestedthat she can watch tv in the den has made a bad situation worse, must go now and hide
for a while,at least till the kids come round -
just cooked dinner,washed up
admitted my indiscretion and was forgiven
and all was well,
that is till I mentioned could do with a new stand and case from gak on monday
spare room beckons methinks
lol -
well its happened again,
was walking past a music shop a while ago
saw a lovely japanese jazz,a couple of mods, nice bass
had a bit of a noodle and bought it,
have not told my wife yet but just managed to sneak it into the house
plays even better through my gear
happy new year to me -
like that
active or passive
trades? -
will possibly be a belated one today
another jazz,
lucky me -
as a song writer, musician producer in my humble opinion
he was one of the best,
such a shame his personal life over shadowed his talent in later years
seemed as if the self destruct button was pressed
but I was looking forward to the new album ect next year

firstly thank you very much for all the advice given
it has given me lots to think about,
so the bass I am using is a squire vm jazz
it has upgraded p/ups,the action is very low as well
but other wise is standard, the stings I currently use are
extra light gauge strings,not because I bend a lot,but small hands,short fingers,
thanks again

Strings will feel smoother...think you mean Danny not Alan (who played football)!
aha now I did mean alan thomson who played on the piece by piece tour,
danny played double bass -
so here I am throwing myself at the great fountain of
knowledge that is bass chat,
as long as I can remember I have used ernie balls on all my basses
the only change is that as I have got older I use lighter gauge strings
so now I want to try some flats on my fretless jazz,
and would like to know roughly how different it will sound as to having roundwounds on,
cost is not a issue, more of a how will it feel on my fingers
I am looking for that alan thomson type sound he that playied with john martyn
ect ect
thankyou in advance
sfef -
thanks
a few people here have heard and they have all said the same thing
I absolutely love playing and would play at the opening of a letter
but what is right is right
funnily enough some one said does that mean you refuse to play for charity then
no I reply but when was a tight money grabbing landlord charity
oh and I also found out they were turned down by a couple of bands
and to add insult to injury
they were offered more than us
just makes you wonder what goes on in peoples heads
cheers

I think you did the right thing.
thank you sir
still not heard a thing, not really that fussed
its their loss -
here in east sussex £250 is average,
and we are a five piece
so this is what happened to us,
a pub asked us to play for a lower fee, given as we had never played in this pub before
we all agreed on the proviso that there would be full paying gigs to follow,
that's is not a problem she says
we played the gig,pub was busy, people drinking and dancing and a good time was
had by all
guvner left at the end saying good job yadda yadda yadda
nothing not a peep,for a few weeks
always not there or busy ect ect,
then right out off the blue last week
I get a message
would we like to play on boxing day,
nice I thought,200 I am told
only to find out later that day its 200 for the band
so I automaticly say no way the drummer is the same
the other guys say why not
really I said are you that desperate,I for one wont be there,
absolute insult
then this big thing kicks off,
about no budget ect ect,and they would not see that it is a piss take,
the pub had a band cancel ect ect
big band meeting me I am the bad guy,ut no I aint doing it they can if they want to,
I have said get a dep in,
they then said don't I know how much that will cost
rest my case
enjoy the gig guys
funnily enough not heard anything since
hey ho -
very sad
rip victor -
don't suppose you would take a trade

ah memories,
back in the day I gigged with a hh bass machine, only stopped using it when I got my
ampeg svt 4x10 combo which was equally as heavy
then got a 2x10 combo with a extention cab,
just got rid of that
now use 2 1x12 cabs and a mark bass head and my back is very gratefull
I thank you -
guitarist in the band I was in said enough is enough, when I questioned why he replied that I like a laugh too much and now I quote,my questionable morals makes me someone he would much less know than play with,so I thanked him for the glowing reference wished the silly old fool all the best, given that I am happily married in my late fifties who does not drink, smoke or do drugs did make me chuckle
