1.
Hi. Would you consider selling the spare neck separately? Is it an original one? I'm looking for a pre EB neck for my stingray.
Thanks
Hi Philio,
The only way I could sell the original '78 neck is for £400 + shipping. Even then I would have to think about it as, if I can't make a sale to finance my ongoing deal, I really think a new body would make it a keeper.
However still open for alternative offers/deals

3.
Im just trying to make sure I have this right then, The complete bass in the picture is a copy neck and copy body (Or is that a real body?) but with a real bridge fitted wrongly (In what way is it wrong, angle or position?), and EB electronics (Its at least mid 80's could be a lot later but the circuit is the same anyway). Seperately included is the 1978 neck in the pictures that has been on a four bolt body at some point. Is that right? Ta.

I have confused myself even more now :)
Hi Pete,
you have understood exactly. Neck and body in photo are copy. The bridge is at the wrong angle. The bass plays perfectly but the strings verre slightly to the trebble side. The copy neck & body can easily be sorted with a top load bridge. With a Nordstrand p/u & a 2 band eq I think it would be a stunning piece. The birdseye maple neck is a super piece of maple.
See ya

Hi, Is this bass still available ? I tried to correspond with you before on ZIKINF.
What is your asking price in €, assuming it is still for sale.
Also does it have its OHSC ?
Look forward to your reply

5. Hello,
I am interested in this bass, if it is still for sale. Better still I am an expat. bassist living in France, where are you ?
Do you have this bass listed on any French sites ?
Looking forward to your reply, but I am v. busy so it may be 24-48 hours before I reply.
à+, mon pot

6.
Hello there, this was sold 3 years ago.
Oh dear, obviously not only am I retired but now starting with 'senior moments'!
I'll just turn up the volume a bit more,.............. aren't Backman-Turner Overdrive super!!!

7.
Hmm, not loads more than the one I have, but now I'm a bit annoyed mine isn't the most powerful of the line.
If you would like it you can make me an offer. I didn't advertise it because of the delivery charge but I might be able to get it to Bristol for not a lot

8.
Surely the power amp is the trouble more than the pre? I have a Q1000 and it is amongst my heaviest things (not a user of lightweight gear). What are the ratings on the Q1300 anyway? Does it bridge to lower than 8 ohm? I've not seen them before.
Yes, absolutely the Quasar is the problem, but as I use both of the units very infrequently I put them together in a rack for another "option" in my equipment. But I cannot see me using them in the future ( How many "options" do I need?) hence the sale.
The Quasar per side is 630watts @ 4 ohms, 385watts @ 8 ohms & 230watts 16 ohms. Bridging is at 8 ohms giving 1310 watts
but it weighs 21.5 kgs !

9. lHi everybody. This is my first post in the For Sale section, so I hope I get evrything right !
So, yes, AMPEG SVP Pro Blackface 1979. It has been in my rack since new as back-up. I have recently paired it with my trusty MATAMP Q 1300.2 but my elderly shoulders can't take the strain any more. It has the original valve set, but I must reiterate very little use since I bought it. There are a few very minor marks on the top cover where, when checking the interior I put it on top of the fixing screws on my bench DOH! I am retired and living in Brittany but I have a colleague who makes frequent trips to UK so, if any potential buyer is prepared to wait a little, shipping cost should not be too high.
I would like £345 for this fine example.

The Slithy toves did gyre AND gimble ? Unbelievable!

10. Hi. I have a noise problem with my SVP Pro preamp. This is excessive mid range noise when near the amp.
My bass is a Yamaha TRB 5P (first version) which does not exhibit this problem with my other amps.
The noise diminishes markedly when I move away from the amp. I have lifted the ground from the power amp, reinstated it and lifted the ground from the SVP unit, to no avail. The amp & preamp are mounted on "HUMFREES".
I have had the SVP for many years (blackface) but not used it very often, though it was in a rack for many years as a standby, powered up but hardly used.
Question: could the problem be valve related, even though they have not had much hammer? ( I did buy the unit secondhand so it may have been hammered, also I have never opened it up to see what valves are in there.)
From reading other threads about the SVP I think it may be a noisy design to start off with, though the basses proximity seems crucial.
Any help gratefully received.

11.
The basic answer is 12 ohms.

The main disadvantage is that you won't get anywhere near the max power output of your amp (assuming it's rated at 4 ohms).

A better configuration might be two in series (16 ohms) and the other in parallel = 5.33 ohms. (http://www.1728.com/resistrs.htm)

But you won't get an even distribution of power through the speakers. Half the power will be in the single parallel speaker (so 315W) and the other half will be in the two series speakers (so 157.5W each).

You can add a dummy load if you want but that won't really help as you'll just turn some of the amp's power into heat in the dummy load.

Power-wise, I wouldn't worry too much about just using two parallel speakers (giving 500W handling) with a 630W amp, unless you're in the habit of running your amp at 100% full volume - in which case things will probably sound crap before anything breaks.
Hi,
I have a simple question. If I wire two 8ohm speakers in parallel, giving 4 ohms, and then I add a third in series what will the total impedance be and is there any draw back in this configuration?
I have three 8ohm 250 watt speakers which I want to use on an amp giving 630 watts at 4 ohms. I want to draw maximuèm power but realise I cannot make these speakers give a 4 ohm load. Or can I add a dummy impedance in some way?
All replies gratefully received.
This is my first post so I hope I have observed all the correct protocols!
