1. Thanks Richard - the Valenti J looks really good and I'm surpised it's not sold as yet....

If it does then the Marleaux-Carvin MIGHT still be available, but I need to update this thread: there are currently two BC'ers who have expressed great interest in the bass (via PM) and I think it might well go during the coming week, depending upon circumstances (and sales/funds).

Apologies if the listing has become a little confusing: I did think of starting a new one when the bass came back from Ped.. but perhaps that might have created even greater confusion.

I'll update the thread when anything further is confirmed (one way or another)

2. Here's the other pickups I bought 'potentially' for the GMR - they're also on ebay (link below). They're actually a 'better' pickup than the 1/4-lb.'ers I fitted, but didn't suit the bass so well. They're probably not so good a 'deal' as the MEC's I've listed/ebayed but are completely new and have the box(es), instructions etc etc.
Just thought it best to add them here in case somebody might be looking for a new set and could save some ££.

STK-J2 Hot for jazz bass® by Seymour Duncan
Higher output single-coil-sized Stack®. Similar to the Classic (Vintage-voiced) Stack - STK-J1 Classic for jazz bass® , but with increased output and a thicker-sounding mid-range response. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable and logo cover. Perfect for country, pop, blues, and classic rock.
One of the most popular Basslines pickups. It captures the same great tone, presence and response of the SJB-1 Vintage single coil, but without the annoying hum. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable (optional 4-wire or 2-wire connection, depending upon what you need) and logo cover. Neck pickup is slightly shorter, as per original Fender pickups and routings.
These were bought for a project but never used. So they're brand-new and with original boxes, instructions etc. rrp on these is about £75 each, though I think you can get them for about £60 each online (plus postage).

3. Warwick MEC active bass pickups -jazz configuration: m 60201 s (Short/Neck) and m 60201 L (long/Bridge). They were taken out of a European Custom bass (GMR 'Pi' - on the basses section) and replaced with a passive pickup/active-EQ system. The pickups are effectively new, showing little sign of use and the MEC (gold) logos are not worn. Top sound/specs and also have a full length of wire(s) attached, including the battery connection.

£42 delivered.

(I have these listed on ebay currently: seems to be quite some interest, so will be leaving them there if the bidding commences)
4. I'd be inclined agree with 'Foxen' and WOT, depending upon how far you've progressed: whilst I was based in Tianjin, I bought a 'Precision' bass from one of the better music shops there. It didn't have a Fender logo (...that's easy to add of course) .. but the build quality and playability was excellent; the thing is, it was the only one (of about eight) that was playable (although the shop owner kept telling me that they were 'all the same' .. well, to look at, from a distance they were!...). BQ is the major problem there - as I think it was initally in Japan, and later Korea. So, if it's a good example then it'll play fine. But - and I have no idea how they can do it, other than the generally LOW cost of living there - these were very cheap.. and I'm taking about <£50 !!

5. decided to give this a try on ebay :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=006

.. if any BC'er can offer £975 prior to 07:09 GMT on 2nd Dec (a Sunday), then I'll be delighted to remove it from ebay 12 hours before the auction end (.. as they've now prevented sellers from stating that items are for sale elsewhere).

That's £975 inclusive of 24h. delivery (but not PayPal).
