Hey is this still for sale? Can you PM if so please? Cheers! Tom
Yes - still for sale. PM sent 😊 -
This is a lovely ‘97-‘98 MIJ jazz that I’ve modelled on a ‘64 relic type vibe. I chose it as a relic project based on the beautifully dark rosewood board similar to those that the originals had. It sounds and plays great.
It’s been
modded as follows:
- Medium relic Surf green nitro finish with matching headstock and period correct decal (difficult to capture the colour but it looks more like the pictures that are more towards the green side, rather than the blueish hue most of the pics seem to have)
- Fender pure vintage ‘64 pickups (same as those found in the Flea jazz bass)
- Gotoh Res-O-lite vintage style reverse tuners
- KiOgon wiring / pots
- Schaller strap locks
- period correct bridge with threaded saddles
- period correct off-white pickguard
- All the hardware has been reliced a little
Weight - 4.2kg on my scales.
I have a soft fender tweed case and plenty of boxing / bubble wrap for postage. I’d prefer collection from Cardiff if possible.
EDIT - Happy to consider trades for basses
of similar or lower value + cash. I’d consider a P bass, especially a Nate Mendel or could also be interested in a 5 string.

I think this used to be my one Marc… if so, it’s a wonderful P bass. I’m half tempted to buy it back - except I’m trying to sell a couple at the mo 🤨

Don’t see many of these around… this one’s a factory original lined fretless in fairly good condition. There is a small section of missing paint on the rear.
It’s strung with a set of labella black tape wounds that sound fantastic.
Lovely quilted maple body and ebony fingerboard. Neck is maple / mahogany. 46mm at the nut. 19mm string spacing. 33 7/8” scale. 2 single coil p’ups with bridge piezo.
I don’t have a case for this but It can be packaged securely for transit. The price includes UK delivery. Any trial / collection also welcomed.- 8

This is the first edition of the classic vibe jazz bass from 2008.
This one is extremely clean. No dings, scratches or blemishes on the body or neck. Just some mild oxidation of the metal work which is common for this model.
All tuners, electronics and truss rod functioning properly. This bass has been used very little and setup with light Ernie Ball nickel rounds and a low action. No fret buzz or dead notes.
Overall a great bass that IMO easily matches the American made equivalents in terms of finish and overall quality.Maruszczyk gig bag included.
Trial welcome in Cardiff.
Price includes uk delivery. Will discount further for collection.

I have one! The solid body fretless. Great fun for noodling around on the sofa. It does a surprisingly good upright impression. I think the 23” scale is very sensible and playable. Only complaint would be that I don’t find the tone knob very useful, anything other than completely rolled off sounds pretty poor I find.

Lots of nice trade offers but really after something traditional and with 4 strings (Fender P or J , Musicman).
-
Will consider all trades now - ideally with additional funds in my direction. 👍

Thanks @LukeFRC for the extra info 👍. FWIW - it does the active-jazz sound pretty damn well to my ears. Lots of clarity and beef where you want it 😉.

I presume truss rod is under scratchplate?
Yep 👍

Q1. Correct - both are 1/1+2/2
Q2. As far as I’m aware they are all true single coils. Not sure about the hum-cancelling? Never noticed any hum in any position. Each pickup is a Bartolini 9W5 - there may be more info about these online.

I picked this up on this forum around Xmas time. It’s a modified, well used but not abused early example. Absolutely fantastic and versatile bass.
I will add that it’s missing a small retaining black screw that secures one of the mini switches - it came to me like this unfortunately and I’m not sure where I can source a replacement.
I’m open to any trade for a 4 string bass - ideally in the UK. Let me know what you’ve got.
Price includes UK delivery. Please see my feedback on this forum.
Description and pictures from previous sale:
Here is a quite unique old Sadowsky J5. This beautiful light blue thing bas been played and modified but it remains to have that Sadowsky DNA all over the bass.
Admitted, to some the adding of 2 ‘period correct’ Bartolini pickups may be an acquired taste but with a three way toggle switch per pickup it ads very musical tonal variations.
The great early ‘94 maple neck, these necks are special really (Anderson?). The finish seems original to me, at some points it is becoming a bit greenish: same discoloring that happens with old blue Fenders.
The neck seems to be refinished in a yellowish clear coating at some point. It’s done professionally. The pickguard seems custom made, don’t know by who.
The bass has signs of playingwear all over but no abuse: generally speaking it looks pretty good.
Most important is that it sounds and plays awesome, it is light (unchambered!) and well balanced. Other than mentioned modifications the bass seems 100% original.
In the early nineties these Bartolini’s, Gotoh tuners and bridges were the ones that were used by Roger and they still work perfectly fine. The Gotoh bridge allows for afjusting the string spacing which I find to be a nice feature since I like the spacing to be just a little less than 19mm. The truss rod and the electronics work flawless as well and the frets have enough life in them for many years to come. The bass comes with an original Sadowsky soft case...
