  1. I joined the club yesterday with the acquisition of an R-400. I had high expectations prior to it’s arrival and I’m not disappointed. I’ve only messed around at bedroom volume but the tone is fantastic straight out the box, I’m not really a fanatic knob twiddler however this seems to go from ‘clean & fat’ to ‘fat & dirty’ in a seamless way that is very musical and pleasing IMO.

Cant wait to crank this up, hopefully in the next few months.

Thanks to all those who have contributed in this thread as it really helped me decide to take the punt on this. Additionally, great customer service from Leszek and the packaging was bomb-proof.

  3. Recently acquired this but due to a recent change in circumstances, I offer it for sale.

It’s close to mint condition, some light swirling in the finish if you hold it up to daylight but really not visible under typical lighting conditions.

This bass plays brilliantly with a strong and even tone across the fretboard. The tone knob has a really broad spectrum of useable tones.

Weight is 4.2 kg on my bathroom scales.

No case for this but I can throw in a generic hardcase for an extra £50 if required. It will otherwise be packaged ‘bomb proof’ for transportation, I have a sturdy box and plenty of bubble wrap.

£465 delivered to your UK address or collection from Cardiff (whilst observing the distancing rules ofcourse).0E6D0A5D-CF85-492C-8E43-298CF25580B8.thumb.jpeg.17dd9358fadec47bf2590c2ed42e3a1e.jpeg

  4. This is just an awesome gig bag, as protective as most hard cases I would say.

It’s less than a year old and has been used under 20 times. The outside looks brand new, no rips or tears. The only evidence of use is some discolouration of the interior where metal parts have touched the lining.

    Full specs here:

    https://www.gatorcases.com/products/guitar/instrument-bassguitar/pro-go-ultimate-guitar-gig-bags/pro-go-guitar/bass-guitar-gig-bag-g-pg-bass/

I’m only selling as I’m now using a bag that can carry two basses.

£60 posted in the UK or £50 if collected in Cardiff.

This is the brochure page for the MKV version of this amp which explains all (as you can see the rear controls are exactly the same as this MkIV):

    Thanks for posting this 👍

If you can get this on to a stage with your spine in tact, then it doesn’t get much better (IMO), proper earth shattering stuff.

The folk-lore about Trace watts is true!!

  6. I believe this amp was the top of the range in the early 80’s. I think this one is an ‘84. It has the legendary GP11 pre-amp.

Absolute beast of an amp with bi-amp facility, essentially two AH250’s in one enclosure. The sound is epic, classic Trace.

All sliders and knob covers present. Working brilliantly. This is far too heavy and impractical for me. It weighs a lot!

I can get quotes for delivery but collection would be best due to the weight.

    Trial welcomed in Cardiff.

  8. Nice example of a transitional era Fender Jazz in the transparent blonde finish, this has the older style logo but with the 3 bolt neck plate and micro-tilt.

This might attract any Marcus fans out there as it really nails that bright, snappy, articulate slap tone. Harmonics jump off this bass and it rings out forever! Currently setup with 40-100’s and a low action. Truss rod turning both ways nicely.

It has usual signs of wear and tear consistent with its age, most notable is a slight lacquer chip on the back of the neck. I can’t feel this when playing but it’s worth a mention. Otherwise it’s all original except for replacement bridge saddles (I think) as these appear a bit more shiny, but I’m not sure, perhaps they were preserved when the bridge cover was present. Bridge and pickup cover along with original case are missing.

Weight is 5kg as it’s a heavy ash body. It sits nicely on the strap and with a wide strap, it has been fine for me.

I will include a generic hard-case in the sale.

    TRADED

    Trial welcome in Cardiff.

  9. Here’s my Thumb NT5 from 1992. You don’t see many with the original fitted case like this, I believe most were shipped with a rock bag as standard so this is nice, and very protective! The case weighs a tonne though!

Additionally, I replaced the original brass bridge and tail piece with an official Warwick lighter weight equivalent, this shaved some of the weight off it. It weighs 4.75kg now which is below average (I believe) for one of these. The original hardware will of course be included. I’ve not experienced any neck dive with this Thumb, it balances perfectly.

The only wear to note is a small patch above the p’up where the thumb rests. Otherwise it’s stunning.

It is setup with a super-low action with no fret buzz anywhere.

I’m open to offers. Based in Cardiff, UK.

Not particularly interested in trades but you never know. My tastes are for more traditional passive basses at the moment.
