I can recommend a good chiropractor
looks heavy but impressive. -
I have one of these great for G**tar but rubbish for bass.
EBS Multicomp seem very popular if you have the budget. -
Nice one!
Happy Birthday -
The fender specs are a good place to start
http://www.fender.com/support/basses.php
especially if you have a Fender.
None of this stuff is hard if you have the right tools, basic diy skills and really take your time.
It's very satisfying to learn these skills.
Regarding the the truss rod make sure you use the correct size allen key/ hex nut adjuster, depending on what make of bass you have. Slacken the strings first IF it needs adjusting. By the way you normally stick a capo on the 1st fret hold down the string at the top fret and measure the clearance at the 7th or 8th fret not the 12th as someone else advised. Check the factory specs for your bass
If it's really tight or you have any doubts about your confidence to do this don't. Get someone who knows what they're doing to help. I would but I'm a bit to far away! -
I have a linn axis bought in the 80s and it's still spot on.
Someone buy this it's a bargain. -
Nitromors will also attack any glue holding the body sections together.
if it's a fairly thin finish a cabinet scraper is quite useful but you need to be able to sharpen and file one first!
Wire wool and sander sound best bet to me. Besides what's the rush?
Take your time it'll be at thing to love and cherish for ever or until the next one anyway -
Great tone and playing there Jase.
All kind of influences going on in there that i really like.
thanks for sharing this with us. -
Hello,
Sorry if I'm ranting like an old man. I'm just curious if all Bass-tards (bassists) get slagged off by their smaller, weaker and more feminine cousins: the G-tards (g**tarists).
People say to me "Oh bass is so easy, only 4 strings...bla bla...you have no sense of melody...". What do most bassists come back with? I generally insult their lack of rhythm, or if i'm really annoyed I insult their lack of manliness. Sometimes, I say to them "two words for ya: slap and pop...you try doing that...." and they immediately shut up.
Short answer: John Paul Jones. -
It's not worth replying to them, cos they only ever listen to themselves anyway
... and they'll never turn down and stop noodling so they can hear you anyway. -
there's no justice like angry mob justice.
Shows what can happen when a bunch of angry basstards start gathering together and sharpening the pitchforks.
I'm really moved by the level of response help and support by so many fine people on this forum and amused as ever by the good humour too.
Shockwave you're a star. Definitely several beers due to you at the next bass bash
"Evil prospers when good men do nothing"? This show what happens when people help each other.
Now let's move on to fix the economy NHS, middle east, afghanistan.
No sod it lets look at some more gear porn and swap jokes whilst arguing about jazz. -
Cool band and fantastic bass tone but he mauls the bassline of I Wish IMO.
Couldn't agree more. -
Bit of a long way from Saffron Walden so I can't come.
but hope that it goes well for you. Break a leg (string?)!
Post a link to BBc iplayer or wherever we can listen again. -
Sounds like a perfect Saturday to me. No credit crunch up north then?!
Nice bass bet it sounds as good as it looks.
I'm currently saving up to buy some strings -
I borrowed one of these from a mate a while ago and couldn't put it down. Until I had to give it back of course.
They're really nice.
Mind you I did turn up to a rehearsal with it and the singer asked if it was a comedy bass.
This name has now stuck between myself and the owner as in "Can I borrow the comedy bass"?
I recall them being really good value too; under £300 from those gits at the bass cellar a few years ago.
Try it you'll buy one. -
Someone buy this.
They're over £600 rrp new
I would if I had the cash -
I'd like to personally thank the OP for making this slight error and causing the funniest thread I've read for weeks

Me too! -

I would if I could. -
And also sampled by All Saints some years back!
Wicked CD, with Will Lee on bass, and Mike McDonald!
Thanks Mike
It's a great lineup isn't it. I didn't know Will Lee played on there. I love the Phoebe Snow version of Shaky Ground.
Will lee is one of those names I know of,( mainly from Harke and Fender ads) of but will have to investigate further.
If Donald Fagen and friends did this again i think I'd sell my car book a flight and go.
Mike -
Try and get hold of Donald Fagen & The New York Rock and Soul Review
live at the Beacon in NYC. Fantastic stuff -
Here is a custom maker that a very kind chap Steve that I met at a bass bash sent me back in April:
Jim now has the template for the 2x10 combo as he has now done the first one for me.
You can contact him at -

I read an interview with Flea in Bass Guitar mag saying something along the lines that he liked old fender Jazzes because they'd had a lot of time forgetting that they were once trees and are now guitars.
Personally I think that they make 'em better now anyway. -
Thanks Bilbo
I really enjoyed that what a player he is. Great Band;Tight as a gnats chuff.
