  1. Use a wireless straight into my Mesa Mpulse and Mesa 212 cab. Tuner is from the amp tuner out socket and has no effect on sound. I have noticed that bass sounds fuller with a cable rather than wireless but I like the freedom of wireless especially in 70's Glam covers band wearing platform boots.🤣
  2. Sound of absolute silence on a hill at Loch Ness on hols reading Gap Years by our very own Mr Holwill @Dave Vader
  3. Not usually a big fan of Reggae but some songs just jump out at me and this one does. See what you mean about bass timing. Think this is why i struggle to play Reggae. Its all about feel. I'd have to listen to a lot more Reggae to get a better feel for the style. Have to say you've posted quite a few songs i've liked and enjoyed @Reggaebass Its great for relaxing and background music. It kinda just flows. Dave
  4. Me too. Once listened to several times i'll start playing along with it to get a feel for the song then i'll write it all out starting with root notes and then filling in the gaps as i go. Dave
  5. Stay of the curried beans.
  6. HMWYRS i just started slow with the music sheet / tab and worked up to correct speed. There was a little bit in the verse where his timing is off beat that kept catching me out but i kept at it and i can do it but not good enough to play in a band but it was just for my own satisfaction really. I keep working at it tho. Every now and again i have a wee go at it. Had a lot over the years where little bits of a song evaded me and then all of a sudden it just worked and i got it. This one i just struggled with the rhythmic feel of the bass line. Its not a technically difficult bass line and its not overly fast. I just had a mental block with it. I don't use a pick but that's never stopped me with any other songs but at a rehearsal one day it just clicked and ever since it just comes naturally. The band was 2012 so was a while back but its always stuck in my mind. LIAR by Glenn Hughes.
  7. 2 very nice basses for the money. The passive VS4 is one i quite fancy trying altho i do tend to use my VM4 in active mode. Dave
  8. If i didn't have a holiday to pay for this week i would have been having one of those 2 basses you have up for sale. Both at fantastic prices and always great condition gear. Passive Sandy is so nice. GLWTS Karl Dave
  9. That's where i bought mine and Mark was brilliant. I would def buy from him again and probably will. Superb bass. Has a super glossy finish too. At the end of the day why do you need skirting boards anyway. Enjoy and have fun. Dave
  10. Ooohhh i really lie that. Dave
  11. New song to learn for next rehearsal Another classic.
  12. That would be good for my 70's Glam covers band @Cuzzie. Dave
  13. Had the SVT 4Pro and that was a beast. Lifted one of those SVT II 's in the studio couple yrs back and it was a bit of a beast. Very nice tone tho. Dave
  14. Quite enjoyed this. Found on one of my Youtube trips
  15. Sounds amazing. Out of curiosity what is the amp you're using and are you over-driving it. Very nice indeed. Dave
  16. I would say my story is same as yours. Wasn't until i left school and took bass lessons that i learned music. I was asked to join the choir based on what the music teacher heard from the class singing but i was too shy and didn't fancy it. Oddly enough i've never sand since my first band late 70's where i sang Hold Your Head Up by Argent and 2-4-6-8 Motorway by Tom Robinson. Both easy bass lines and allowed me to sing. We eventually got a proper singer and i've never sang since That's my recollection of those early years. Dave
  17. Sell or trade for a 4 stringer Sandberg. Shouldn't be much in it price wise. Dave
  18. Just proves you're human like the rest of us
  19. It works really well and as others have commented some great tuition vids there. Dave
  20. Finally getting to see some of those amazing basses including the Staccato bass. Really enjoying it. Dave
  21. Straight to Detroit Rock City and now on Styx. Brilliant stuff Gary Dave
  22. Not sure if i've picked you up right but do you mean you don't know what notes are on lines or spaces. I know i take that for granted but appreciate someone that's never taken lessons won't know that. Does this help Dave
  23. Once you start it soon speeds up as you do it more and more. I've came along a fair bit myself and i used to read a fair bit back in my early days with lessons and few yrs after that. Then TAB came along and now i use both if needed. I started off writing the notes on the page next to the notes and on some of the fast pieces i still do that but most songs that i actually play in the band i can read at my own pace and use it as a back up guide to what i hear on original song. I'm no sight reader and it takes me a bit of time to go thru some of them but it passed the time during Covid Lockdown. Dave
  24. First saw them support Rush maybe Farewell to Kings tour and bought the album on tape. (bad idea) Did eventually copy it onto CD. Had a look at buying some of his albums but they start at £17 up to £60+ depending on the album. Found a Best of Max Webster on CD at £8 so i ordered it and Battlescar is on there too. Mahogany Rush were a brilliant band too. Also bought an April Wine album back in the day but never heard much more of them. Pat Tarvers i have a couple of his albums and again brilliant. Canada has produced some amazing bands but even more so outstanding guitarists. Dave
