  1. I agree I must say that my description of the 201 as a BBOT is wrong – what I really meant was that the bass is high-end and usually those kinds of basses have more expensive bridges 🤐
  2. I would say that it is just a thicker bit of BBOT – not dissing the Gotoh 201 but it ain't nothing like the sophistication that a lot of bass folks are spending money on these days – I'm sure that a blind test wouldn't reveal any difference I saw an Italian Allegro once, called the Innocenti! ☺️
  3. never mind – we're doing it again 😊
  4. Having done lots of bridge research for my in-progress @Andyjr1515 build I came across this amazing looking bass from Stradi that has a bent bit of tin for a bridge Personally I'm not sure a bridge is something that does much more than hold the string down at the body end of things – obviously others will disagree, but sustain is hardly ever necessary and didn't mean much to Jaco or Jamerson anyway 😊 https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2020/11/30/bass-of-the-week-stradi-reformer/?fbclid=IwAR22HPFJshnDsjuAy1h3Z6t4p0jUElmc4a-awwCw5YXFwN4lKposjD1UaFQ A bit of a nod to the Alpher Mako body shape too I reckon
  5. I have their P, J and MMs in various basses – output is as expected, good and strong, no noticeable difference in output compared with other pickups I use
  6. The simple truth is that I bought the neck earlier this year from someone on the Wal Lovers FB page and the pickup/preamp/scratchplate I bought in the for sale section on this very forum about 10 years ago I had two lovely Mk I Wals that I had to sell a while back when business wasn't so good, so I kept my eye out for any Wal bargains and here we are
  7. Oh yeah, they ate the bridge too 😢
  8. What really happened was mice nibbled away at the body over a period of months while it was in storage, it was so badly damaged that I took the thing apart and left them to finish the body
  9. I could tell you but that would spoil the fun! 😊
  10. I received clarification from ABM on this matter – their aluminium bridge is black chrome, not black paint/powder coat They state that the aluminium is not good for metallic coating
  11. Thanks @TheGreek – the ABM isn't in stock until late January – the bridge is for the Wal Pro 1e rescue that @Andyjr1515 is working on for me – not sure I can wait until then so might go with the Hipshot A Will consult @Bassman666 if the need arises – thanks for the tip 😊
  12. I was thinking of buying an aluminium ABM bridge in black and the company tell me that black aluminium is no longer available as aluminium isn't great for paint adhesion It seems doable as other brands offer this combination Any thoughts on this?
  13. Swifts in flight against the jet-trail – amazing!
  14. Nice lighting in the last pic Andy 📸
  15. 40mm at the nut Will provide details of profile with pics tomorrow
  16. More Jazz width than Stingray - will check when I get back shortly
  17. I might just get another body made for this, as it's so nice Luthier-built 6-bolt fretless neck for sale – maple neck with lined ebony board and MM-style tru-oil finish on the maple – great condition with faint marks from round wound strings that could easily be sanded out I bought this from @Beedster about 10 or so years ago, on ebay IIRC It was built by a North-East luthier by the name of Jim Kearns, although I will have to check my notes to confirm the name Pics to follow this weekend
  18. Paul at Wal did say he could make a new body but the cost was beyond my budget and it could be a long wait
  19. agh! the mantra! a secret no more 😊
  20. Bravo! I lit several candles for you this morning and recited many of the luthiers' guild prayers while chanting the mantra that only the few know
  21. Pics… last one shows small mark underneath headstock
  22. No problem, all cool 😀 I'd better get those pics up now! cheers!
  23. Hey wise guy: "Pics to follow either today or tomorrow" 🙃
  24. It will be a Pro 1e in all but the bridge – unfortunately, Wal won't sell me one of those 😢
