1.
Interesting bass! Never seen a Grant-branded one before but identical ones appear with the Columbus & Maya brands. Maya was a Japanese export brand (Columbus & Grant were UK importer names) used by Rokkomann, who allegedly had their own factory in Kobe.
These Grant instruments were imported and sold by James Grant Music, a guitar store at the end of Byres Road in Glasgow (just across from the Botanic Gardens) who went out of business sometime in the mid to late eighties and as you suggest they were just custom branded low end Japanese copies ala Columbus, CSL, Satellite etc. From memory the vast majority were Strat and P-bass knock offs with the odd few Les Paul or 335 copies appearing now and again. I doubt there's many of these Grant LP basses around now.
 2.
Again, as I said in my post, this neck is the posters spec and as such should be comparably to the stock showcase necks at around 250 bucks so your $ 340 figure is wrong.

Even if I did get one built to my specs and it's $340.00 USD, that still equates to £211.213 GBP.
It was your figure not mine and I was just pointing out that you hadn't accounted for shipping and duty costs which rightly or wrongly tend to be factored in to the second hand sales of stuff like this.
 3.
Even if I did get one built to my specs and it's $340.00 USD, that still equates to £211.213 GBP. Warmoth stuff doesn't hold it's value very well, but you are selling a product second hand for £11 less than a new
$340 + shipping to the UK at around $60-$70 and then add VAT at 20%, so the total cost new would be in the region of £300-£320 landed. While full build Warmoth instruments don't hold their value the bodies and necks do (at least on ebay uk), presumably because they have an excellent reputation, are reasonably rare in Europe (particularly bass parts) and unlike Fender there isn't a huge problem with fakes. I've been looking on ebay for a bargain on a good quality strat neck every day for the last few months and have watched several low end, second hand Warmoth strat and tele necks go for £200+. While £200 for the OP's neck isn't the bargain of the century, I don't think it's overpriced.
 4. A special amp needs a special guitar. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Les-Paul-original-Am...utorefresh=true
 5.
The website says "complexly hand crafted" (yes complexly) and "Introducing our "Bolt-Thru Neck System".
My Frankenstrat has a Bolt-Thru Neck System. I'll get my coat...
 6.
40th anniversary logo on headstock and neck plate.
Most US Strats from '94 had this, the only ones that didn't were some of the special editions like the '54 reissue of which 1954 were made (these have special serial numbers from 0001 to 1954). There's a couple of '94 standards on ebay for around £500-£600 and a Plus (has Lace Sensor pups) for around £700.
 7. Just back from px'ing my MiJ Strat for Ian's Robin Ranger. It was a pleasant stress-free experience and I would definitely deal with Ian again. Jamie
 8.
PM'd sounds interesting i've sent you my email for more pix
Got your PM but I've just noticed that it's currently silly 'o' clock in the morning and I need to be up in a few hours so I'll PM you with more info this evening (Monday night).
 9. I might be interested in a px for an E series Fender MiJ Strat. The E series were produced during 1984-87 and are well regarded by Fender aficionados. It's current market value is around £400-£500 and I could throw in a Fender Frontman amp and some cash (but not a huge amount as like most folk at the moment, I'm a bit skint).
